@doubar & Teti:
Uahahahahahaha Yes! Our points are exactly the same!
I'm not going to quote you point per point because I really have to get a shower and it would take me hours to write the post, but I'm gonna give you my review of the episode+fangirling+squeeling+shipping points of view.
First of all, as I already wrote in my first review on the blog - I don't quite get this show writing/producing.
It has ALL the qualities to be AWESOME, but still they RUSH stuff.
And that's what this episode it's all about: Rush.
Gosh it went so fast and my mind was speeding around theories and subplots so fast I was really disappointed when it came to an end, just like the first 'main plot' (Akbari, his son and so on) there was SO MUCH in that episode they could have easily shot an hour and a half episode!
But let's start from the beginning (I haven't read Felicia's spoilers, so I'm Tiger-spoiler free
)
They come on the Island and there's no harbor master, Gunnar decides to part ways with the other because of monies...but he does that in a way that's SUSPICIOUS at the least.
Like: "I've been following you, keeping you safe, risking my life for 10 episodes, and now, out of nowhere you can happily go to hell (literally - land of the dead) I have silk to deliver?"
Ehm, no. I don't believe that! So I was suspicious.
The "No wonder they like witches" line CRACKED ME up XD Lol I was crying from laughter!
Than few minutes Tiger almost chops Anwar head's off because he said he didn't believe that such maps could exist...OHHHH cool off girl! He's a scientist - but that was actually cool, because for being one raised by tigers she's not that wild I'd expected her to be.
Later we discover that she's not actually wild wild, but she was raised in Malta, by Angelico (also this was a bit rushed in my opinion: ep 10: there's a map - ep 11: my best friends actually has a map" o.O) so she was a monk pupils but she's a bounty hunter? Did she learned to fight that way in a Malta monastery? mmmhhhh something's missing here. Maybe it's in those spoilers?
And here comes Philippe! Wow! what.a.character. I loved his compulsive way to clean up and his totally messed up mind!
"Come in, come in!!" *Sinbad sits* "what are you doing! this tavern is not for strangers! get out!"
o.O what the heck! lol
And there's the girl Lana if I remember right, she and her boy are the only character well-introduced in this episode.
In 4 minutes more or less, we know she's a widow, and that the monk?priest?pope? whatever the dressed in red man was kinda looking after her and the boy.
Now, let me spend few more words on the red bloke.
He's introduced to us as a good character, kinda you know a fatherly figure for both the girl and the child, and after that she suddenly becomes the bad guy?
AND he becomes the bad guy NOT because he's seen Lana hand on Gunnar's face *insert fangirl squeeeeeel here* but because of the wolf pendant?
Ehy I get it! I'm not stupid, but if my sister for example had watched the episode with me, by the end of the episode she would have asked "why all the fuss for the pendant?"
Plus there's no hint of him being the father of Philippe whatsoever, they aren't even on the same scene ONCE!
That's what I call rush!
That and of course Lana and Gunnar relationship:
"Ehy I just met you, and this is crazyyyy but here's my house, be my hubby maybe?"
Not that I can blame the woman, oh gosh no... he's absolutely AWWWWWSSSSS but still.
Actually when he reached her house I thought they already knew each other, that he kept as a secret for the crew of a some kind of love story he had in Malta years ago (enough to be the kid's dad, maybe?) but no.
It's like Giselle in Enchanted says: "They met, they talked, they wed" o.O
And from this the whole Gunnar protecting her innocence was absolutely sweet, their part was absolutely the most coolest and beautiful part of the epi, but while I was watching the trial I had the feeling EVERYONE in the episode knew what was going on BUT ME. o.O
The scene with Gunnar chained in prison and the mice and Lana was *melts because of too much awwws* awwwssss.
And yes I noticed the mistake, but technically he was wrist-chained so he wasn't able to move his hand forward to grab the cup but maybe it was possible to get closer to the bars if he held his arms behind him?
Dunno, just brainstorming here
Now I wanna talk about the beast a bit.
When Rina and Anwar were looking for Sinbad and Tiger to warn them, Philippe came out of the tavern to make them come inside because the beast was coming.
Few minutes later, Sinbad and Tiger show up IN the tavern, from the underground and we discover that the beast is Philippe.
Hilarious was the scene were Rina kept talking and Sinbad and Tiger were both "shhhh!" "shhhh!"
Poor Rina! (oh awesome kick ass pants she had by the way!)
Now ok, the wolfsbane and the beast being manipulated, but WHY...oh my...WHY on earth, if I AM the beast, and by the end of the episode I explain about how my father used me, I don't want to hurt anyone and so on...
I WOULD HAVE TOLD THE GUYS TO COME INSIDE BECAUSE THE BEAST WAS COMING???
Really?? Really??? REALLY?
*face palm*
Is this an improvisation based show? because in THAT case, I would understand that.
Otherwise, dear writers, you're messing things up badly!
And yes, the "special days" - "I want to hug you" part was hilarious XD
And now we've come to the shippings!!!
These are mines:
Sinbad/Tiger - absolutely, totally shipping them! From the moment Sinbad told Cook "I was in love" looking all sugary at her <3 he likes her, he's liked her since the beginning, because she's fiery, she's brave, and she has the same malice he has, they are just meant to be!
And the way he hold her and she had her head on his legs, while he stroked her hair was just *Oh my KISS HER ALREADY!*
Rina/Anwar - They are soooo cuteeeee <3 "You sure you can 'unlock it'" (awesome word choice doc!) "why you never trust me?" lol, meant to be, like I said from the beginning <3
He was totally lovely when he defended her with his own parents!
Lana/Gunnar - Of course! I know it was rushed and I tell you this, if it hadn't been for the actors being that awesome, it would have been ridiculous. But they put such talent in the way they touched, and they talked to each other it almost hurt me, and those two are the only reason why even if my first reaction was "What the flock did I just watched?" this is my absolutely favorite episode.
Really those two were so pure and true my heart melt!
The way he came closer to her from behind the bars, and his hand so low... it was almost too much!
And him trying to win the 'daddy of the year' award with the boy was the cutest thing ever <3
What else? Oh about the Tiger/Taryn stuff. I think she possesed her body, for one simple reason: Angelico said "it's not for you to go"
So she must have thought: "ok, I'll go with another body!"
And that's about all.
I think she might have all the knowledge Tiger has, and that would be the most simple way to rush things out in the season finale, but if I was writing it, I'd place an awsome spirit fight in Tiger's body, with Tiger trying to regain control and Taryn having to let her because it's only her spirit that knows the map.
But of course that's just what I would do to make the show cool ù.ù
