I don't really know where to post that but... have you seen this guys They're producing a new Sinbad's serie! It's an English production and it's currently being filmed in Malta. Here's the article I found: www.sfx.co.uk/2011/06/17/first-pics-of-sky1%E2%80%99s-sinbad/And they even have a facebook called "Sinbad2012" if you want to check... Tell me what you think about this guys?

It's as weird for me who has watched Young Hercules with Ryan Gosling on family channels, to try to compare it with the Hercules serie with Keven Sorbo. Not the same storyline (though characters that are common, which is okay since we can't change the mythology, can we ?), not the same audience either. I bet this Sinbad will be on the same level as Tudors or Borgias. Definitely adult-oriented. So I'm not judging this new show either, since it's really not a plain copy of AoS, but another interpretation of the character of Sinbad. I might even watch it, but as a whole different show (though I admit, I might end up making all sorts of parallels between the two series ) By the way, I think it's so much weirder to have AoS with NONE of the characters actually arabian-looking

Interesting...I just posted a short interview piece I had saved in an OLD email from Ed Naha...he so WISHED a new version of Sinbad would come about.
Especially, since the British company that took control tossed it aside later...its kind of ironic that its another British company that is putting forth this new 2012 Sinbad.

Honestly, no offense to Ed Naha, but since what happened to S2, I prefer the show stopped. It was going nowhere.
I would have loved a season with Jacqueline Collen back, but that wasn't going to happen, she told herself.
So ... let's see what this company will do with this Sinbad. But it's not the same guy, just another sailor who happens to have the same name ;D (total denying mode)

Ah and let's not forget the show aired 16 years ago. Already ! So that makes it okay I guess. We're the ones, fools, to still dream about AoS so long after it was cancelled ;D

Yeah, its been long enough.
After all, there are a LOT of King Arthurs and a LOT of different Robin Hoods.
Usually new versions are made every 10-20 years for a new generation.

Yes and IMO there's only one Robin Hood, and he and his men wear tights ;D

Yes and IMO there's only one Robin Hood, and he and his men wear tights ;D Agreed! Because unlike some OTHER Robin hoods, HE Speaks with an English Accent. XP I'm still waiting to cringe if and when they attempt to redo Firefly... There was, is, and always will be only ONE Mal.

Makes sense. New generation, new series. My heart will always belong to AoS, but this actually sounds quite interesting. It appears to be a different take (hopefully!). Sounds like it's got quite a bigger budget that AoS, but then again its only got 13 episodes. I'm still waiting to cringe if and when they attempt to redo Firefly... There was, is, and always will be only ONE Mal. Agreed. No one will ever be able to Nathan Fillion justice.

Yeah, I have already read something about this show in one magzine. Well, of course my heart belongs to "Adventures of Sinbad" from my childhood. But his legend is very popular and adventure/fantasy shows/movies are very trendy recently , that's why I'm not really surprised that something like that is going to show up. As for the actors and plot, it's just another interpretation of the story. I think it can be interesting but there is no point in compering both shows, I think.

Actually, sometime I really want the show to be re-make. A lot of things weren't solved in the show, and they need to be solved. I know there are some fan's products also solve the problems, but I really want all those things to become a real show. If there is any company tend to produce the new Sinbad's series, I really hope they will re-make the AOS with the same plot, the same characters but fix all things which shouldn't be happened in the original show. I know maybe you don't like that, and I won't feel easy to accept it (because of the new stars) but yes, I really hope that all things we're trying to do will become a real show one day in the season 3 of the new version of AOS. As about the new series of Sinbad, I was totally disappointed when I found out that it's just the other show. I don't like anything which have the relation with Sinbad if it's not the re-made version of AOS. Btw, over here fans already chose the actor and actress to play Sinbad and Maeve already (in case if Vietnam remade that show). Look who they chose to play our "golden man - pearly woman" (I translated exactly what they call Sinbad and Maeve) ;D Fans are very cute. They said that maybe when our children as old as us when we watched AOS the first time, there would have a company which re-made that show, and it would be played on HTV70. (HTV7 is the channel which broadcasted the AOS over here the first time). Who know if they are right just keep waiting. ;D ;D ;D

Especially, since the British company that took control tossed it aside later...its kind of ironic that its another British company that is putting forth this new 2012 Sinbad. Well, and who knows? Maybe someone of the old company now works at the new one. There seem to be quite some ideas in that new show that seem too different from the old Sinbad stories yet somehow similar to our fandom (at least telling from what little info that is available right now) that I wouldn't rule that one out. And it'd be a nice touch anyway as this way Naha's dream would come true. I bet this Sinbad will be on the same level as Tudors or Borgias. Definitely adult-oriented. Though it'd really pain me to see a Borgia-like version of Sinbad. I hope I'm not offending anyone with saying this, but both series seemed so very explicit for me. It'd be more than odd to see the same with a show that's about a Muslim sailor. I do agree though: I'm sure it'll be adult-oriented. We're the ones, fools, to still dream about AoS so long after it was cancelled ;D Ooooh, but didn't we learn in AoS to never stop dreaming? ;D As for the actors and plot, it's just another interpretation of the story. I think it can be interesting but there is no point in compering both shows, I think. Ooh, but I think that's just what makes the whole thing interesting. To see how they interpreted the myth and which elements they used. Like I said, I wouldn't rule it out that maybe AoS was a source of inspiration, too. So comparing might be quite interesting and might in turn give us new ideas for our own fandom. Or it might not help at all in case the shows are too different. But we'll get to know maybe. @ban: Oh, I don't know. Some of the old Sinbad movies are quite entertaining to watch. ;D But yeah, in general I agree with you: for me AoS is the best Sinbad interpretation out there. Made with so much love and simply great. Aha, but your Sinbad and Maeve are great. Different to be sure but still... well chosen. I think, at least telling from the picture, the two share a similiarity that somehow resembles the one Jacky and Zen share (when as a kid I talked with my mum about the two, she said she thinks that there's something similar in their faces and I think she's right).

P.S.: I just read that Evanna Lynch (Luna Lovegood from HP) will be in the series as well.

I'm a HUGE fan of Borgias. Papacy, murders, poisonings, what a match ;D As you said, I was only comparing it because of the adult orientation, but not really about the ''sex'' part (but really, Borgias has nothing to do with Tudors, which I tought was a serie that only kept the historical background so it would not only be an erotic serie Borgias is darker, it is twisted, it's about power, vengence and betrayal, while Tudors was mainly about ... I don't know, getting from one wife to another ? But trying to settle it in a chronology ?). I mean that maybe the violence will be more present. Maybe the characters will have some issues to solve, that are way more complicated than what we saw in AoS. Maybe the language won't be as clean, etc. I guess many things can make a serie more teen or more adult oriented. I think it's almost better if the audience is different, because then we would see how different it is from AoS and maybe it would be easier for us to adjust to it @ban: The two actors look very handsome However, I'm not a big fan of remakes. Most of the time it is a complete disaster. I would really be hurt to see someone actually re-doing AoS, with a different cast and all. That's why I agree both with Kriss and Doubar ; no point in comparing the two shows ... yet I will end up doing it, because if I feel it's too much a copy of AoS, it will bother me. On the other hand, any original storyline they bring with the new show, I might find interesting and wonder how it could have worked with AoS. Who knows ? Maybe more AoS fans will come back here or on other AoS websites, once they see the new serie ; they might remember how they loved AoS when they were young. So, it might not be that bad after all
