Good Heh, I totally thought of Malfoy, too when reading that book ;D Which leads us back to stereotypes ;D Or rather: archetypes. I think this is not the article I originally had, but anyways, it heads pretty much into the same direction. The original one I had was more detailed I think. www.geocities.com/raina_sedai/fantasy1.htm

Oooh, how could I forget to mention this one here so far: Another book trilogy, by a German author again but this one is rather well known because of the movie that was made recently (and which was rather nice and in tune with the first book IMO ) The Inkworld Trilogy by Cornelia Funke It´s a story about a girl, Meggi, and her dad, Mo, who have a unique gift. When they read a book aloud, they can read things and persons “out of the pages” into our world. Mo is raising his daughter alone because years back, when Meggi was still little, he read something to her mother, Resa who disappeared into the book he read to her then, a book called “Inkheart” In her stead, the books villains (and their leader, a guy called Capricorn) and a fire spitter called Dustfinger (eeee, I LOVE Dustfinger and his little horned ferret! ;D) ended up in our world and have been causing problems ever since. Mo, since this incident, has never read aloud again and only by and by his daughter discovers that she owns the same gift. Mo has been looking for a copy of Inkheart for years now, travelling with his daughter, trying to find a way to “read” his wife back, with no success so far. And then all of a sudden, Dustfinger shows up, demanding to be read back into his own world that he has not seen for 10 years. It´s great stuff, unique ideas and all. I´ve read parts 1 and 2 so far, part 3 is waiting to be read once I´ve finished re-reading part 2, because it´s been a while. Here´s the trailer for the movie which gives a really good feel for the atmosphere. I need to get that DVD *sighs* www.youtube.com/watch?v=lHXETxYGqsk&feature=fvw

Often juvenile / teen is rather good. With fantasy especially, the lines to adult fiction is fluent anyways

Tuck Everlasting sounds familiar for some reason, but I haven´t read it. Of The Indian in the Cupboard, I just know the movie. But I like juvenile fantasy books on a general level

Tuck Everlasting, I mentioned it in the Welcome Chat before. Indian in the Cupboard, the movie sucks. The book is so much better. ;D

It´s usually that way, isn´t it? Even great movies usually have even greater books.

Yeah, but the movie really sucked. The acting was bad in my opinion. At least the Harry Potter movies were good.

Well, in Harry Potter, the book is quite long and impossible to put everything in a movie.

True that. And after all they are doing a rather good job with the movies. I was just a little disappointed how much they shortened about the story of my beloved Marauders in Prisoner of Askaban. Nearly the whole background story was left out.

Nearly the whole background story was left out. True. & I think they could do a better GOF, there could be a bit more of Weasly twins. There's only one filming of a book that I wont complain of: The LOTR trilogy. Peter Jackson did it fair & square.
