Oookay, Kriss, I finally finished watching this ep and I have to say... it makes totally no sense! I can very well understand you, Wind, when you say it's like the only S2-ep you just would refuse to watch. Now, let's see if I can compile all what I find odd here:
1)The lame monster and dialogue I already mentioned
2) Sorry there, but the blonde druid lady... she's odd. Usually the baddies and goodies are somewhat fitting... but she just seems out of place there.
3) Something Mody already said once: DimDim's constant intervention is highly illogical. All the time, during S1 we never heard something about him [except for the one time where Maeve made the contact that is], and now - suddenly - he comes stopping by every now and then? I mean, okay, we can state that maybe through the bracelet he can build up a connection to Bryn, but... seriously. It's just odd. And why in the world, if he contacts her so often, does he never tell the crew of Maeve? I know we solved that loophole here, saying it takes him much energy to contact the poeple in the real world and that thus he only does it when it's really needed and that he keeps it short then and only submits the most important info... Still it bothers me.
4) Something I do not know whether it's the problem of our dubbing... when Bryn helps Djenna (or however her name's being spelled) to remember the path, Sinbad says to her (rough translation) "Hum, guess I couldn't keep my secrets with you being around". But what does the one have to do with the other? Bryn just helped the girl remember, she didn't exactly read her mind or did she?
5) Related to number 4: Djenna stated that there were traps along the way up to the castle, and as it seemed Bryn only helped her remember the way ... then how comes that, after the druids took the girl, Sinbad and Bryn do still find their way up to the entrance... and arrive there being unharmed?
6) If the book is this mighty that - although all those mighty souls are being imprisoned there and most likely trying to get out - it still values the good more than the bad... then why did we watch this ep at all? The whole time the ep circles around the book and how they try to make sure the duid doesn't open it. And then we get to see that it doesn't matter at all if he opens it because the book acts good? Oh sheesh! >.<
7) Just a little something I found to be incoherent: Djenna constantly shifts between being brave and willing to sacrifice herself for the book, and between whining and pleading to be set free. Now, it's not like I wouldn't think it to be okay to be scared, but a little more coherence would have been nice I'd say. The one second she's pleading her father not to open the book and in the next she's pleading to be freed (and it did occur to me that she did not direct this at Sinbad but the druids).
8) Why, do I ask you, does the door open after the book destroyed the druids? They didn't lock the door with a spell, but with a bar. Or are we to believe that this was a magical bar? It looked rather normal to me I have to say.
9) My eye-rolling moment of the day... Sinbad is kising the Lady of the week (what news ) and then says to her: "there's a touch of the book's magic with you" and she says "even though I only had it for a few seconds now!?", and then he looks like being slightly absent-minded before replying "Exactly! I will for sure come back every now and then".
Heh? Do I have to understand that? Does this book give her some super special feminine powers to make Sinbad react like that?
Seriously, I do not like listing so many bad things about an ep and really, I love AoS and even made my peace with S2... but this ep has now made it to be my personal "worst ep of the series". >.<
Only good thing: and yeah, some of you might hate me for saying that, but when leaving out the flirting with Sinbad, I find this Djenna to be likable. And her father's a nice guy, too.
