Everything that can remotely be seen as "science" can be discussed here. This includes... *ponders the stuff that has been discussed so far* stuff such as astronomy, nature sciences, social sciences, whatever is too specifically technical or scientific to fit with the other off topic.

About 13 th of August it was. And once again at the place I stayed, it was cloudy and rained all evening. *pouts* I don't know why but somehow I always have the bad luck to have bad weather in my area when the perseids are passing by. alex: Aye, same over here. My boyfriend has once seen them and said it was just beautiful. *envies him for that*

Timing is important. And now, does that make you feel better: www.youtube.com/watch?v=6XTBrYWrey0

*marvels at the vid* That's just beautiful ... even when it's only a vid. Ghosh, it must be so nice to see them in reality. And 2 every 60 seconds is breathtakingly beautiful. Ya, know, I've got a soft spot for this stuff and falling stars have something extremely romantic about them.

I just saw one shooting star... once. When I was on a plane. But it looked extremely pretty (and trashy ) with the background of a rainbow coloured sky

Really? *puts that on his list beside Doubar* ;D Oh, and I don't want to disappoint you, but that 2 every 60 seconds has only a 30 or so minute window. After that it slowly dies down. But the whole shower is supposed to last 6 hours.

@sinbad: Aye, I once saw a shooting star on my way to school. It was a pale blue morning sky, somewhen in spring I think for it's been rather cold. alex: Really. Space simply is a fascinating thing. And, I do know that there's only a small window. That's why radio stations often enough tell you when this is supposed to be (over here it's been around 10 pm this year).

Seriously, who comes up with names like that? If I were an astrologist I would give every thing I discovered a funny name. Such as.... Dimples and Shiny Thingy ... and Stinky (for the gas planets )
