*scratches head* My boyfriend said it was Legolas who saved Frodo in the books... but it's been quite long since he last read them and I had not come that far when I started with the books so many years ago (had to return them before being able to go on).
Heh, yeah, I can imagine that this wasn't the best figure to introduce then. >_>

Glorfindel is the one who saved Frodo. Although, I guess technically speaking it would have been his *horse* that saved Frodo xD Since, if I remember correctly (it has been a while since I've read the books ), Glorfindel did not ride with Frodo, but put Frodo on his horse, which then ran for Imladris and carried him safely across the Bruinen.

I just got reminded of something when whistling the tune for "speed bonny boat" these days. I have to admit I have no idea whether that's the official German version for this Folk song (could imagine there's none to be honest, and the channel just made up one), but I have to admit I like our version, too. I'm not as good as Nili when it comes to this, but I'll try and give you a rough translation of what our Doubar and Maeve sing. originalSpeed bonny boat, like a bird in the wind Onward, the sailors cry Carry the lad that's born to be king Over the sea to Skye Loud the winds howl, loud the waves roar Thunderclaps rend the air, Baffled, our foes stand by the shore, Follow they will not dare, Speed bonny boat, like a bird in the wind Onward, the sailors cry Carry the lad that's born to be king Over the sea to Skye our versionFly, thou my boat, fly, thou my boat, over the waves afar; Bring me to her, bring me to her - that's where all my thoughts are. Louder even than heavy gale and sea-gulls' cries my song traverses the night; Love brought me, oh love brought me all luck you can find in this world. So fly thou my boat like a bird on the wind, all to the shore with me; Hold me on waves of love and of bliss all the way to her.

Yeah. I find it to be funny somehow that in our version the song's a love song while the original is more like a sailor's song I would say.

In French they didn't even dub it. It was the original English version and then they just switched back to the French voices. *shakes head* I wonder how they would have translated it...

Yeah, would've been interesting to know. I have to admit I wouldn't know whether it had bothered me to hear the English original. I guess I would not have cared... but it's somewhat funny to hear our lads sing. ;D The original Doubs has got a slightly better singing voice though I have to admit, but our Doubs did well, too. *wonders whether she should upload our version*
