The attacks in France were terrible. It is impossible to imagine how someone people could feel so angry and disenfranchised that the best way to spend their lives is by killing cartoonists and dying shortly after. They lived in France for heaven's sake! Where yes, there is a wealth gap and there have been riots about that and yes, there is suspicion and racism towards muslims but... Doing terrible in a fit of anger is one (awful) thing, but making a plan to kill and to die is just warped. Over here (NL) there are jihadists as well and a lot of racism (is that the right word?) against muslims.
But should we all now shut up because some random angry dudes could take offence and shoot us? Heeeeell no. There's this quote, I forget by who: I don't agree with what he's saying but I'll defend to the death, his right to say it.

I may not have been a Trekkie, but still it makes me sad to know this legend died. Rest in peace. Leonard Nimoy.

Just dropping in quickly...I have just heard about what is currently happening in France...I am glued to the TV trying to catch up with everything...it is absolutely horrible...
Kahlan, I hope you are alright and that all your loved ones are safe as well.
My heart goes out to France.

It is so horrible what happened and the worst thing from this is the thought how much are people helpless against similar fanatics.
I also hope that Kahlan and her beloved are fine and I try to stay in the picture about events as well.

What happened yesterday is beyond awful and myheart goes out to everyone who lost a beloved person in what was such a cruel and shameful act of terrorism. I also fear however for all the refugees now who are already running from that terror. With the right-wing parties growing stronger every day, I am scared of what they will make of this. Instead of standing strong side by side with everyone who condemns these acts of war they will use this tragedy for their own purposes. As do the governments. The war in Syria will now blaze and we will all be losers in this reckless game of power. Here is grieving for every innocent who lost their life in these wars - may it be the French or the Syrian, Christians, Muslims or those of no faith. Mankind is cruel and has always been. We will never exist without war and terror and it breaks my heart to think of all those of us who just want to live their lives in peace.

THere is not much for me to add to what you guys have already shared and said. I believe we are all shocked and united in that Feeling. I myself have not really worked through it all for myself, but there is one Thing that I know for cetain that is that neither should we retreat in fear nor should we become blind. This is no thought directed at anyone here, it´s just a reflection on what Stef just pretty much said, supporting your words there, dear. I briefly talked to Flo on Facebook yesterday, she and her People are all right by what I could tell. Just thought I´d let you know. On another note, Maeve, it´s so so nice to see you again.

Hi everyone,
I'm so sorry for not stopping by here earlier. As Nili said, I'm fine. I live quite far from Paris so I followed the news on TV and Internet just like you. As for the people I know living in the Capital, they're fine too. I just heard that one of my friend lost a friend of her, who was at the concert. I didn't know that guy, but I can only imagine the pain she must be feeling for loosing someone in such circumstances...
I'd like to thank all of you for reaching me here or on facebook. As a simple French citizen, I really appreciate the support that all people from all over the world are bringing to my country.
I do hope that this craziness will stop one day.
Much love.

Hi everyone, is a fan of Bud Spencer on this page? I always liked him, Terrence Hill and their comedies and I was quite sad all day when I heard about his yesterday's death. His movies were a big part of my childhood similarly as Sinbad, nothing too artistic but they always brought the good mood to me and I still like watching them in the present time. He reminded me Doubar a little in his movies - a big strong man with the golden heart who did not spoil any fun. He lived into a blessed age and he left in peace surrounded by his closest people. His last words were "Thank you." Rest in peace, dear Bud.
