Just read in the news that Jack Klugman died yesterday (what an awful Christmas this must be for his family). I don't know if you guys know the series but for me it was one of the first crime shows I watched. But his son says that he went peacefully so that is somewhat nice. R.I.P. Jack Klugman

The natural disasters are one of the most dangerous things which we can meet in the world from the simple reason. We can not predict them in many situations and even when we can there exist only few means how to defend against them. The different dangerous situations give us the opportunity to do something with them, but human are defenceless against tsunami, floods, earthquakes, eruptions of volcanoes and similar things. We can only hope that there will not the big losses of lives.

I'm following the news. It's the most horrible thing I've seen. I've never thought a storm could cause that much damage. I knew that typhoon was very strong and it would cause the horrible damage but I didn't think and couldn't imagine that it could kill that many people and a lot of them are young kids. I was shock when I read the news. It's very sad seeing what happened to Philippines. I deeply hope the people there will get help soon. They're hungry and tired. I wish that the new storm which is heading the Philippines will not get strong. Philippine people already have enough. What is most beautiful in this storm, do you know? It's the innocent affection between Vietnamese and Philippine. Never before, the two nations are that close. Even Philippines was devastated by the typhoon, the Philippine people still sent to Vietnamese the best wish when the storm was arming to Vietnam. Even Vietnam also had to face the storm we still sent the aids and our wish to Philippine, share with them the loss. We share with each other the pain and the fear we all have to bear. Without caring about about our conflict on the sea, we give each other the best wish from the bottom of our heart. During the time the typhoon threatened us and right now, I believe that no one else in this world worry for Vietnam more than Philippine did and no one can understand Philippine pain more than Vietnamese do.

manche & Ban: You are both right. Nature causes the biggest and most awful disasters because she causes those we cannot protect ourselves from. They teach us that no matter how much we believe ourselves to be the ruling species and how much we believe to own this planet we will never be stronger than what we live from. It only is so awful when such things hit the countries that are already having a lot of troubles and where housings aren't so strong. The pictures that reached us via the news are horrible and I cannot even start to imagine the pain that the Phillipine people are going through these days. So many lost their children, their spouses or parents. It's nothing but awful. But at least there is a tiny light in the dark. The world is once again moving closer as so many countries are sending aid. And I am glad to hear that even the conflict at sea doesn't count anymore in these awful days. That's how it should be, and I hope dearly that both, the Phillipines and Vietnam will get through this. <3

That's how it should be, and I hope dearly that both, the Phillipines and Vietnam will get through this. <3 The good thing is the little storm didn't become a strong one. About the Haiyan typhoon, the one we should worry about is Philippines. Vietnam is ok now. The typhoon had weakened a lot before it hit Vietnam. We're very lucky when at the last moment, the storm changed its course and moved to the north and then hit the northern area when it was a lot weaker than before instead of hitting a central area when it was still very strong. It caused some serious damage but not a disaster like what it did with Philippines. We lost 18 people in the storm, 84 people got injured, and there are some flood at some areas but everything will be ok. The good thing is we don't lose too many people. Now, I really worry about Philippines. I don't know what is happening there. The people still haven't got helped. It shouldn't happen that way. It's 6 days already. I can understand when it's late for 2 or 3 days but 6 days is too long. How can the people there live without food and water in that long time. I really have my question on Philippine government.

I am so relieved to hear that Vietnam didn't get hit as hard. I really was worried about you when I heard the typhoon was on its way up to your country. Still, of course, 18 people is still a high price to pay, not nearly as high however as what the Philippines had to suffer. And it pains me to know that help is still coming only slowly. Telling from what I heard one of the major problems right now is the infrastructure. Helpers have troubles distributing the needed goods as roads got destroyed and all that. I really hope the situation will improve soon, because time is vital under circumstances like these.

Wow, did you hear the news about the great mystery surrounding Jack the Ripper? That riddle has been claimed to be solved now. And apparently it was indeed one of the main suspects - a young man who spent the rest of his life in various asylums and if that's correct the murders stopped when he was admitted to the first of them. www.mirror.co.uk/news/uk-news/jack-ripper-murder-mystery-solved-4177665(Yeah, I know, the Mirror probably isn't the best source when searching for reliable information, but it was the first English page that popped up in my search and the news is all over the TV anyway over here so I thought it would suffice. )

It looks that this mystery was solved after all these years. I do not know many details, but there was mentioned something about a sample of DNA.

Yes, apparently the scarf that one of the victims wore has never been washed and now the blood on it got finally analyzed (it was obviously very difficult to do that, considering the material is so old and dried up). As a next step they compared the results with descendants of both victim and the main suspects. Eventually, this lead to the finding that the young man was apparently the murderer. And it does fit with the known information, too (like that the crimes stopped when he was admitted to an asylum).

I usually don't like talking about politic, war of religions or anything like this.
But I think I must leave a little note here to say that January 11th of 2015 will become a Historical day in France after all the attacks of terrorists that happened in my country in the last few days... 17 deaths....66 millions of french people hurted... And today more than 3 milion people on the street to claim Freedom, Equality, and Fraternity. I shall not forget all those countries who also joined us in this unforgettable day...

Nobody will ever forget what happened in France in these days, it's terrible and it gives hope that all those people and countris joined together for freedom of expression and equality. I have honestly seen (especially on my facebook) a lot of critics against people that were putting the #JeSuisCharlie hashtag for many different resons, especially Italians, and I don't understand it. Yes, I did not know anything about Charlie Hebdo before the attack, yes I do not follow that kind of political satir or politics in more than I need to be informed for my voting, but it doesn't mean that I cannot demonstrate my solidariety to a fellow country, or to fellow people. French people have all my thoughts, I was hurting when you were hurting too.

Thank you for your words Yes, I did not know anything about Charlie Hebdo before the attack, yes I do not follow that kind of political satir or politics in more than I need to be informed for my voting, but it doesn't mean that I cannot demonstrate my solidariety to a fellow country, or to fellow people. Exactly, I, Myself never really liked that journal, but there was no reason to kill people for what they used to do. Everyone has the rights to express themselves the way they want, as long as it doesn't physically hurts people. So I'm, too, defending the liberty of expression by writing #je suis charlie.

I guess that whole world will never forget about these days. It is a Historical day for us all. Many says that it is just the beginning and that will not end in France only. Hope not.
Flo, please know that I follow the news all the time and I am with You with my whole heart.
