@kriss: Oh, honey. That's so sad ... and tricky. I wish I could say some brilliant thing and help you with this - especially since I am the one living the closest to you - but Sinbad pretty much summed up everything I know as well. I so wish I could help you.

@kriss: well, just like Sinbad before me I was just trying to find some site where one can file a missing person's report. Unfortunately I only found one where you can do this for free ... and this one takes missing pets as well as persons. Dunno if it is frequently used or good at all but thought I should post it nonetheless. www.suchmeldung.de/ - unfortunately it's in German. Guess eiter Nili or I would have to post there as only the main site can be found in English as well

@kriss: I just thought of it, but besides chainmail, you can a lot put up flyers around the neighborhood and surrounding cities and put a picture and note in the newspaper.

Aye. The newspaper. A great idea, Firouz!

Yup, I wonder if you could take Kriss' post and see if you can have it posted in the newspaper in Germany. Of course, maybe we should get Kriss' permission first.

Hum, problem I think would be that most newspapers are regional ones - so we should at least have an idea in which federal state to post it. And some general newpaper? *ponders* Well, the most common ones would be "Die Welt", "Welt am Sonntag", "Bild am Sonntag" ( not very recommendable), and some others (-> www.freeabos.de/zeitungen.html ). But I don't know if you can post something like that there and how much it will cost you. Btw: all posts in newpapers require payments. And if you want to have an article with photo posted you have to write one or get some media attention. The simple insertions anyone can do are without any pics, if I am right. Aaalthough, maybe if one explains everything the newspaper would help you ... which in turn would be more likely if we knew for sure that she's here in Germany. P.S.: The stuff I've written after the "Btw" refers to the local newpapers as I know more about them than about the general ones

Just what Doubar said, yes. And no, I´d definitely not recomment anything relating to "Bild" They reported about an incident in my village and behaved like vultures.

@sinbad: Aye. They are no use at all.

Yeah. What I saw and heard about them last year is that if you´re reckless and emotionless enough, you can get quite some money from them in exchange for "interesting" infos on an already gruesome story

Well, you could inform the police and ask them to post the picture on the "missing persons" list. If the newspaper reports news, then they should pick this up. At least, that is what they do here. I´d definitely not recomment anything relating to "Bild" They reported about an incident in my village and behaved like vultures. That's how the media works. ;D

Firouz: True. And easy to say. As long as you don´t see it happen to a family you know.

Do they have "missing persons" lists in your country? Do you have any ideas on how to spread the word other than chain mail. Not everybody has a computer and that might not be the most efficient way to get the public alert.

I´ve been thinking and googling, but all I came up with was something similar to what Doubar just mentioned. And maybe having one of us Germans translate something that Kriss could give to us and post it there would be a good idea. Other than that, I can just underline what Doubar said already. Most papers are regional and I don´t know what the police do in such cases.
