Sometimes I don't remember small or big details about the fictional universe built by Ed-Naha. So I thought to open a topic to discuss about these doubts. ;D 1st question I wonder if Doubar and Sinbad, when they were children and grew up with Dim Dim, lived in Bagdad or in Basra. I suppose that it was Basra because Leah, falll down from a cliff and drowned in the sea. But in the fisrt ep. of season 1 Sinbad said he had an house in Bagdad once, so I'm not sure. Suggestions and speculations are welcome

Hm... good question actually, I never really thought about that. I think I figured they grew up in Baghdad because of the whole "coming home to Baghdad and whoa, look how it changed" thing in the very first episode, but I might be wrong there.

I think they grew first in besra then moved to Beghdad. So i guess they grew up in two places not one, like first in Besta then moved to Beghdad.

*weighs head* Well, I too have never really thought about it, but would as well say they did not only live in one place. I mean, of course did Sinbad have that house in Bagdad - which does not necessarily mean he grew up in it, too. I always understood that like "Huh, see, he bought himself a house there" - after all as the fairly rhich merchant he seems to have been that would make sense somehow. So, they might have been raised in Basra but later on moved back to Bagdad where they had been born... *shrugs*

This "he bought himself a house" sounds funny ;D *has a mental image of a 20 year old Sinbad being kicked out of his home* Gah, I watch too much of this reality TV crap

What's so funny about this? Did I make some mistake with the grammar? I just thought that after he became a merchant he might have had the wish to live in a comfortable house in Bagdad.

Your grammar is fine. I just find the idea of Sinbad buying a hoise kind of amusing. Mostly because I have a weird kind of humour ;D

Well. I think you are right guys. They surely lived both in Bagdad and Basra. And Dim Dim too. He had been Visir of the Caliph, but at the same time his wife still lives in Basra.
Anyway, all of them must have been very well-off people. No wonder Prince Caseeb wanted their money. ;D

If I remember correctly, Ed wanted to add on to the Sinbad Story in the Arabian Nights. I don't know if he grew up in Basra. Probably he did. All I know is after his seven voyages, Sinbad amassed a large amount of wealth, even big enough to challenge that of the Sultan of Bagdad, where he had settled and bought a house. He was a merchant. On one of his trading voyages, he was washed out to sea. Doubar was saved and made it back to Baghdad. The Prince siezed Sinbad's wealth (he was presumed dead) and you all know the rest.
Sorry, talking as Firouz again. Man, I have to get the program Serendib is using.

Bryn, if with program you mean a way to log on as two characters as once, all you need for that is an alternative internet browswe. When for example you have Firefox and Internet Explorer, you can log in on each of them with a different account

I'm going to have a chat with Bryn about Rumina (maybe about Turok too?). So, I was wondering about the first time Turok and Sinbad met. I mean, the caliph said he knew only a man who fought against Turok and won: Sinbad. This happened before the return of Sinbad to Baghdad. Guys, do you think we have to create a sort of basic-backstory about this past happening? Just as a reference. So if one of us want to use or talk about it, it will be the same for everybody.

Hm.. good thing you mentioned it. I guess if you are asking this to make sure Dermott´s conversation with Bryn stays "cannon" with reference to the background... I say we do not need that background. Sinbad must have fought Turok before season I and that means it was probably not mentioned lateron when Dermott and Maeve were part of the crew. therefore, it could be one of the details of his past that are not necessary for us to know. Dermott might mention that being said or having heard it somewhere, but I´d say unless we want to make it some sort of a more important point somewhen later, we wouldn´t need that sort of background knowledge right now.
