Firouz wrote the following about chapter 5: Yeah, it occured to me that romatic gestures aside, it is the person who is there for you when you need it that really makes it into your heart And about the power thing... they really should have a talk about that, but they've been focused on other pursuits It doesn't help that Maeve is only an apprentice herself. Firouz wrote the following about chapter 6: Yay! Love your reaction ;D And Sinbad is such a fool sometimes, it's kinda fun to write him that way. And Doubar is such a good guy. Some of them have to be actual adults, shouldn't they? Thanks for your reviews Princess, they make me as happy as sunshine does

MJ: I just want to ask if Sinbad is really serious when he talks to Doubar that way or he just jokes? If He is serious I think Maeve has no reason to fall in love with that kind of men. And seriously, I think Sinbad too isn't in love with Maeve. It cans be my POV only but I think Sinbad is a caring man. I don't think a man like him cans say like that over what Doubar does to Bryn especially when himself is caring for another woman. With what you show me in the newest chapter, I don't think Sinbad loves Maeve, I even doubt that if he knows what is love. He sounds so much like 'Sở Khanh', the worst man in Vietnamese dictionary. I've never felt disappointed about Sinbad this much before. I know this story isn't about Maeve and Sinbad so yes I don't care about them much but this chapter is too much for me and it breaks all of my thoughts about Sinbad. However, I like the idea you have for Doubar and Bryn in this chapter, MJ. The way Doubar cares for Bryn, he prepares those things for her is so sweet. And Bryn accidentally heard about the talk of Sinbad and Doubar is ...a sweet and also touching scene. Yes, I think touching is the word I want to use here.

Just popping in for a moment here because I wanted to shed some light on Sinbad's behaviour (though I'm aware MJ's the better one to reply), and because I just can't see Ban be heart-broken... Oooh, believe us, those two are in love with each other, and their own story will actually be granted more space as the series progresses. But MJ came up with the reasoning that Sinbad just can be a bit dim-witted at times and especially when it comes to women. And when we're being honest, we never saw him be romantic in the show. Maeve and Sinbad's relationship is much like a dance where the dancers move around each other but hardly ever touch, and Sinbad is someone who admittedly has never had to really make an effort to get a ladie's attention. Maeve might well be the one and only who didn't threw herself at him right away. So if we take this into consideration, and the fact that the brothers have always sailed together and had no real domestic life I think it's not too far off to assume that maybe Sinbad has no real idea what being romantic actually means, and that he could use some lessons in that. So yeah, maybe this helps a bit with the breaking of thoughts you encountered when reading. I think I know why Sinbad's reaction seemed so weird to you, but he's no bad guy, really. :3

Basically it's as TK says (great minds and all ), but here's my take: Sinbad's complicated ;D But yeah, wasn't it stated in an episode that he had been at sea since he was 8 years old? So his examples were basically girl-in-every-port and exxagerated bawdy tales, and he has just very little experience with living with women. To be plain, he doesn't know how relationships with women work because all he's ever seen is one-night-stands. Now some of the men with which he sails probably have a family, but Sinbad would only see them very incidentally. What would be normal for you and me just isn't normal for him. So the boy needs to learn from his big brother ;D Add to that Sinbad's overall fear of giving his heart away because of his particular history... Oh and Sinbad has a habit of concealing his real feelings in jokes, to protect himself I guess, which makes it extra painful when he says those things to Doubar. So he isn't a bad guy per sé, he's just a mixture of clueless and scared. But don't worry, we're educating him as the chapters continue And you're absolutely right that Maeve has a very good chance her heart is going to get broken if she involves herself with him. She's very well aware of it but I can't say more for fear of spoiling the coming chapters

Just popping in for a moment here because I wanted to shed some light on Sinbad's behaviour (though I'm aware MJ's the better one to reply), and because I just can't see Ban be heart-broken... Thank you, Doubar. You can't imagine how angry I was. If I was there, I would killed him right away. Tell you the truth, as far the series goes as I less I believe in Maeve and Sinbad. I now care for Bryn and Doubar only. I already ignore Sinbad and Maeve. They make me angry enough. Yeah, I agree. That's why I told you in my stories there is no romantic scenes. I understand it. But still I'm angry. He doesn't know what the romance means doesn't mean he cans talk about kissing the girls in that irresponsible way. I'm not sure about Sinbad but if you say that so I believe you this time.

Thank you, Doubar. You can't imagine how angry I was. If I was there, I would killed him right away. No reason to thank me, dear. Haha, and you wanna know a secret? Had I been there that moment, I would have so given him a piece of my mind as well! ;D Aw, but now that's a little sad. Though I guess I understand what you mean. Because depending on how you interpret the two and which traits you emphasize in them, Sinbad and Maeve can be awesome but awful as well. They can work out as lovers, or as friends only. Their relationship is so incredibly complicated ... Doubar and Bryn on the contrary are so simple in that regard. They just are beautiful together while Sinbad and Maeve are constantly at risk of losing each other. True, you told me that. Oh, now that's true indeed! And quite frankly I think that was really rather a moment of temporary mental derangement. xP But you know what... MJ will redeem this. I don't recall which tag it was, but at some point your anger will lessen I promise. :3 Good. ;D

@ban: I think we crossposted, if you want to see my response, it is up there ^
Yeah but he also does some highly questionable things. Ack, it is so tempting to just spill the beans!
I've seen thirteen year olds with more mature relationships then Sinbad and Maeve have. They seem to be more at the 'pulling pigtails' stage of romantic development. But sometimes, when they truly connect, you can see the potential there and I guess that's what I like to explore.
I too would have slapped him heartily. Lucky for Sinbad Doubar's more patient than we are.

Yeah but he also does some highly questionable things. Ack, it is so tempting to just spill the beans! Argh, true that. He's not giving up on being a prick (at times) this easily. And it's hard not to spill the beans. ;D Aye, that's pretty much it! Most of the time the two are getting nowhere in their relationship, but there's this huge potential the two of them hold - and that's what the fans love and like to work with. Lol, and lucky for Sinbad Maeve has a soft for him, or else he might already be fried. ;D

MJ: 8 or 12? I don't remember. But according to what you said, yes, I think it's understandable why Sinbad talks like that. Well, I think he is a bit stupid here. If I was Maeve for sure there is no hope for him. @doubar & MJ: Haha. Women we're. ;D ;D ;D And agree with you two, Sinbad was very lucky that Doubar didn't give him his fist or else the captain's jaw-bone would be broken. I think Doubar in your imagination is very gentle or it's just because he loves his innocent brother too much to hit him? You don't mean my poor lady also heard that talk, do you??? I still think Maeve didn't hear what the guys talk about and her action after what Sinbad asked her is just that she didn't care about his stupidness neither himself. Well, sounds like the captain is so annoying here. I wait to see what that man will do in the next chapters. What you said sounds so promising. Now, about Maeve and Sinbad. What make me angry is their childishness. I like the tragic of their love, the pretending of them but I hate a lot their childishness. How old are they? The way they act just like the teenagers. I think they're old enough to take the responsibility for what they do. It's ok if they're scared loosing each other, if they worry that their lives can danger the one they love. It's also fine if they can be a little childish with the one love after they confess their love to each other. But it's not ok if they're trying to avoid each other in the childish way. At their late twenties, they shouldn't act like two kids running around the ship, play mouse and cat. The love of the 18 years old couple is already more mature than theirs. They've gone through a lot of danger in their lives together. They can be childish when the show start but time pass the kids should grow up. Most of the fics about Maeve and Sinbad are about the fear of them when it comes to love so I don't care much about their childish. But the one you two are working on, it makes me recognize one of things keep them apart is their childish pretending. And if you develop the series base on their childishness, I'm not sure that I will like those chapters. That's why I tell you as far the series goes as less I believe in Maeve and Sinbad. I'm only angry with Maeve and Sinbad in this little series. About the show, lucky enough as you two said the show give me more than just childish pretending so I can develop their love in the way which is more mature.

Haha. Women we're. ;D ;D ;D And agree with you two, Sinbad was very lucky that Doubar didn't give him his fist or else the captain's jaw-bone would be broken. I think Doubar in your imagination is very gentle or it's just because he loves his innocent brother too much to hit him? Aye, we are. *high fives* ;D Haha, and true that about Doubar. Really, I wouldn't want to push that man too far. Though, honestly? I really think Doubar to be so gentle. I mean, he's shown us often enough that while he should never be underestimated while in battle, he's also chivalrous and just lovely in his very own way. Just think of the belly dancer in one of the S2 eps. While internally I'm rolling my eyes at his staring her up and down, it was way sweet how he scolded the other watcher for trying to touch her. Also his way with children and his regarding Maeve as a sister, not to mention how gentle he was with Bryn... they all are hints towards his nature. So to cut this short: aye, personally I do think him to be this gentle with the people he loves. And unless Sinbad tries to harm Bryn or anyone else in any shape or form (which the captain wouldn't do anyway unless put under a really mean spell), I see no reason why Doubar should ever raise his hand against him. Oh, and of course he just loves his little brother too much. D'aw. ^^ You would have to ask MJ but I don't think she heard. Aw, now you're right with that. At times their behaviour is rather immature, isn't it? And I, too, like to focus on the pain and insecurity and what grand kind of love there could be between them rather than on how childish they can be. Though then again, I do have to admit that it's not always easy to sort such things out. Not to mention that it has to be considered that Maeve most likely just won't allow herself to commit to anything else than freeing Dermott, while Sinbad might just be at a loss of how to woo a woman when normally they throw themselves at him. And saying that, this is also the reason why I enjoy MJ's tags so much. And I may dare and say now that you surely won't be as disappointed in the captain and the Celt as you now expect yourself to be. There is this almost childish component yes, but in my eyes MJ's been doing a great job adding depth to the behaviour and making it more mature than it would seem at first.

Love ya too Nope she came wandering up later so she didn't hear. Doubar's taken the role of father-figure/teacher to Sinbad here, and patiently explaining why a wrong is wrong is always a better teaching method than violence. Doubs knows Sinbad doesn't mean any harm, if he really thought his little brother was being malicious he would have taken issue.

Huzzah! It's the one where... and then it sets off all the...
Uhm, I love this one, it's so sweet. And knowing what is to come sort of makes it all the better- this is a real turning point for Doubar and Bryn and that makes it sooooo cute!
