Fireland: Amen to that one. Though at least Firouz sorta has his ladyfriend (you'll get to see in S2). Not only you.

If you remember in s1 when they meet Thalia the pirate, she flirts a lot with Sinbad, but her reaction when she sees Doubar is a burst of joy. And they have way more fun talking and laughing about the past at the tavern. I would have liked to see her interact more with him, instead of Sinbad.

Too bad he has a girlfriend in s-2. I thought Firouz had a nice courteous relationship with princess Gaia in S-1. Hope I get to play that character, she had potential, hehe.

Haha, though I guess she really had a former love relationship-thingy going on with Sinbad rather than with Doubar. ;D You're right though, I love how her and Doubar interact. They really seem to be the best of friends and it sure would have been much fun to see the two interact more. And in general I really pitied that she never was present in any other ep again.

Weeelll, I really don't want to spoil anything, but we only see his girlfriend in like one ep. So it's not like she was part of the crew or anything. It was really like the only S2 ep where the main female episode character didn't have a crush on Sinbad. xD Oh, but you're right. He had a nice relationship with Gaia - as had the whole crew I think. And well, if you'd be really interested in playing her, we surely enough will find a way to involve her in the play. After all it's high time the Nomad visits some of the old locations, isn't it?

Actually, when Caipra mentioned how Bryn was originally brought in and ment to have a crush on Doubar...that was written in as a S2 sub-plot geared towards a S2 with Maeve still aboard.
I don't know why I didn't save the website's info...(geocities and all and a South African enewspaper long since deleted and forgotten about) but Bryn was supposed to join the crew with no memory but with a strong instinct ment to help the crew and Maeve specifically. She was supposed to be a friend/sister/competetor in magic. She was ment to help Maeve grow stronger since she is such a strong elementalist; which would catapult Maeve into a whole new learning growth.
Then other things happened and another plot was written up when Jacky wanted to spend more time with her son. She wanted 6 weeks more and her character Maeve was supposed to stay in Basra with Caipra and learn and then have the boys come and pick her up. Her skills having imporved a bit more there.
Not as much as it would have with Bryn pushing her, but more than what she was in the end of S1.
And then 'other things' happened, and we got the S2 we know and like and/or tolorate depending on preferences.
But yes, she was supposed to be crushing on Doubar.
Infact, Firouz, Doubar, and Rongar were supposed to each have love interests in S2 too! It was supposed to be a VERY interesting drama filled season.
*****************
There was that one episode that Dita and Alexis wrote where Maeve was hurt badly by a spell and Sinbad had to go into her mind/soul and find her. In doing so, he got to see and learn of her past.
When Maeve left the show, that plotline was pushed aside to develop Bryn's main female character and Sinbad's possible love interest and was to be used in S3. Meaning, Sinbad would go into Bryn's mind/soul and learn of her past as Turok's daughter and Rumina's sister.

OMG, that was the original outline for S2? It sounds so very awesome! The whole idea with Bryn being a friend and sister of some sort... and M/S and B/D (supposing that Bryn would've been Doubar's love interest... well she better would have! ) - it would have been the AoS season of my dreams!!!!! And though at least Firouz did have his girlfriend in S2, it would have indeed been interesting to see more of the others, too. My so bad it never happened that way! And Bryn really would have entered the series with or without Maeve staying aboard? My, I always thought she was only the gap filler. Really, I now regret that I've never been active in the old fandom. There's obviously so much that I missed on.

@firouz Thank you so much for sharing this. I, just like Doubar, wasn't so active in the old fandom, just a lurker. So I knew of the eventual plot of Maeve staying with Caipra to become stronger (while Jacky was taking her break to stay at home with her son). But this idea of introducing Bryn as a stand alone character (without her being a substitute for Maeve) is totally new for me. Oh it would have been great. . But if they changed the tone of the show to match with a darker concept, I wonder if the sense of wonder of S1 would have stayed as well. So the pairing would have been.... Maeve/ Sinbad Bryn/Doubar Firouz/Velda Scratch/Rumina? Now I wish I knew what plans Ed Naha had for Rongar ;D ;D ;D There are so many fan fiction alternate seasons out there on the web, I wish sooner or later somebody will use this idea.

Well....not Bryn perse but another woman was supposed to come on board. They never really gave her a name or a real background, except for the amnesia, because they weren't to sure about bringing her into the show.
They weren't sure if another woman would be good. They didn't know how the dynamics would fit in.
But yea, it would have been awesome.

@dermott: That's a good point indeed. I was wondering about that one, too. Make that two. ;D ;D Me, too. Though admittedly our dear Rumi's second season is very close to that idea (well, despite of Maeve being Bryn's teacher there). Oh, speaking of fanfics though... I wonder why no one ever took up on those original ideas and paired Doubar up with Bryn. I mean I read about all kinds of pairings: Bryn with Sinbad (of course), Dermott, Firouz, there was one with Rongar, too, and I think to remember one with Tetsu... but never did I read a fic where she and Doubar got close. Lol, either the fandom didn't like the pairing or we're not the only ones who didn't get knowledge of these original plans. xD @firouz: Oh, alright. So the concept "Bryn" was not fleshed out at that point of time, but there was the idea of bringing another sorceress into game and into the crew? Yeah, sure, there's always the dynamics thing. But personally I see no troubles with that one if the two would have been friends and not shared a common love interest. And aslong as the characters matched, too, things would've been alright. I mean, a second Maeve onboard wouldn't have worked at all, but with Bryn being calm and down-to-earth they should've gotten along well. P.S.: And thank you so much for the info! That's most awesome to know.

That would have been awesome ! I wasn't that active in the fandom either, I learn a lot since I'm on this forum, many answers to questions I've had for years ! It wouldn't have bothered me if another woman came on board as long as it wasn't another competitor of Maeve's (either for magic, past or love interests). It's too bad they didn't keep that storyline And that they made Maeve disappear instead of just keeping to the first plot (she stays at Cairpra's), even if that meant we wouldn't see her in s2 at all. It really saddened me how in the interview Ed Naha seemed to be frustrated about the tensions in the team and was so mad he just wanted to get rid of Maeve. I guess we don't know all, how the negociations went between both parties, how the team of actors really interectad off the scenes, but well ... it's like any team of work I guess, sometimes you work with people that become your family, sometimes things just don't work, and even if it doesn't affect the professionalism of the team, it can be a hell to live with on daily basis. I don't know, maybe you've heard about this, but I didn't. I still love to think that everybody went along but from that interview ... don't think so.

Fireland: I, too learned a lot here on DL - many things I never knew or that I missed on. But yes, I totally agree with you: I think as long as it would not have been a competitor to Maeve, I would have been all fine with a new character on board - may it be a female one or not. And right indeed: if she had at least stayed with Caipra... I think it would have spared me the horrific moments when I saw "The Sacrifice" for the very first time. I don't really know just what went on or who did get along fine or what happened in the end; but yes, I always loved to imagine that they're all good friends in real life, too...
