Thea grabbed a hot poker and with it, adjusted a log in the fireplace. She lit a couple of candles and placed them all around the room, making the room aglow though it casted eerie shadows on some objects. It was very dark outside and closing the shutters of one of the windows, she felt a shiver run through her, but something deep down told her it wasn't because of the chill.
Wind kept making one the shutters bang open and shut, over and over again. She tried hooking the latch on but the wind incessantly made it open whenever she managed to get it closed. The wind was strong and made it nearly impossible to get the stupid thing closed. She groaned out of fustration. The shutter opened again and wind whipped her face and whiped out half of the candles in the room.
"Khei?" she called out. "Could I borrow you for a moment?"

Khei had just set her belt, knife, and vest down in the room she had slept in the night before when she heard her name called. She quickly made her way down the stairs and to Thea's aid.
"Wow. The wind is really getting bad out there."

A single golden eye seemed to glow in the moonlight as it watched the open window. The tabby had been wandering around the house since the two had arrived. Occasionally it would give a quiet mew before setting to licking a paw and rubbing the swollen eye.
The wind and cold didn't seem to bother it as it sat there and simply watched.

Thea laughed. "It's causing such a ruckus," Thea said. "Could I have you put the latch on the window once I close it. This job requires more than two hands."

Khei nodded and reached for the latch, ready for Thea to close the shutter once again.
"Ready when you are."

With both hands, Thea pushed as hard as she could. Just before she slammed the shutter shut, she thought she saw through the gap of the shutters a small orb. She blinked but she had already closed the window and didn't have time to delve on it further.
"Hook the latch," she said.

Thea nodded, smiling. "Good," she said. Thea hoped the window would be able to hold.
Thea stretched her tense arm muscles. "Want something to eat?" she asked. "I'm famished."

Khei nodded, her stomach grumbling in agreement.
"Sound good to me!"

Once the shutters had been secured, the cat finally looked away. It had already investigated the house and made it's way around to the side, away from the occupied rooms. It sat in front of the wall and lifted a paw, touching the wall ever so gently but deliberately. The touched area seemed to ripple and dissolve into a thick mist. The cat passed through the mist before it re-solidified as it had been before. A simple Wall.
The tabby wandered through the rooms until it found it's way to the room with the window that Thea and Khei had been working to secure. It glanced to the window before climbing gracefully up a wood support beam, to the rafters, and perch quietly among the rafters, swinging it's tail with typical feline disinterest.

Thea smiled at Khei before she walked to the kitchen and grabbed a rustic pot, then threw it aside for a better one. She looked around for suplies she might be able to use. There was hardly anything to make a decent meal. The last time she went to shop for food was the day she met Khei. Bread and wine seemed to be the only option. Sh threw the pot back into its cupboard.
"Khei, would bread and wine be fine?" she asked out loud.

Khei nodded absently as she finished up relighting the candles that had been blown out before.
"That should be just fine. It's only one night and we can get food in the morning."

Thea grabbed two plates, placed the bread on them and filled two goblets with wine. The room continued to get brighter as the candles were relit by Khei. Placing the goblets and food on the table, she was nearly scared out of her wits when she heard someone was knocking on the door.
She shared a look with Khei and said, "I'll check it out," before she silently made her way out of the kitchen and into the hall. The knocking continued. She approached the door cautiously. Who would knock at this hour?
Placing her hand on the door handle she opened the door. A dark figure in a hooded cloak stormed into the house. The wind from outside brushed though the door and made his cloak swirl around him in a ghostly way. "Khei!" Thea let out a scream but a large hand clamped over her mouth, silencing her.
"Thea, stop screaming!" the man said. "It's me!"
The cloaked man pulled down his hood to reveal, her old friend, the stable master who she had last saw the day she met Khei.
"Coram?" Thea said.

Khei nearly jumped out of her skin when she heard Thea's scream. she ran into the hall and stopped when she saw the man who she remembered from the stable where she had borrowed the blue roan mare from.
She scratched her head, visibly confused.
"Er.. What's going on?"

The cat flicked it's tail as the knocking began. As Thea went to answer, the cat, too made it's way along the rafters into the next room where it could have a good view. The tabby barely flinched at the sudden scene that played out, it's good eye blinking slowly as if it couldn't care less.
