As Thea charged at the men, she almost felt giddy, and she imagined herself mentally jumping on the balls of her feet. She loved the thrill of a fight, her heart beating rapidly and the ability to defeat an oponent. But she always had this doubt about her, her pride often got in the way and made her feel invincible, when she was rather vulnerable.
Thea grabbed the nearest man to her and tackled him to the ground, away from the unconcious man. The brute was surprised by the attack and it seem to take him a moment to register the fact he had been knocked over. Thea rolled off him and watched him trying to stand up. He looked at her with a threatening glare.
"I don't hit women, but since you ain't dressed like one..." He threw a punch but Thea ducked. She grabbed his out stretched arm and kicked the back of his knees, forcing him to kneel. She bought his arm behind his back. She hated being made fun of. Especially about her appearence. Trousers were practical and suitable, she thought proudly. His grunt bought her out of her reverie. She pushed his arm further up his back. Any further, she could dislocate it. Instead, she let him go.
There were mulitple more attackers to deal with and she wondered about Khei. She was about to call out Khei's name when the brute decided to grab her ankle and pull her to the ground. She thrashed against his hold, trying to get her leg free from his grasp. He let her ankle go and was about to throw another punch when Thea, lying on her back, kicked his knees. He jerked back and Thea bought out her knife tucked away in her jacket, his eyes widened in fear. Instead of the blade of the knife, she used the hilt of the knife to whack him on the back of the head. He fell to the ground, unconcious. She let out a triumphant laugh. She turned around to find her next fight.

Khei chuckled to herself as she glimpsed at Thea's method. She was quite skilled with hand to hand combat and Khei thought to herself that she could stand to learn much from Thea.
She turned to face her own opponent, the unarmed man who was already approaching her. She smirked and charged. The man obviously expected this move as he readied himself to slug her in the gut. What he didn't predict was that she had anticipated this and, with cat like agility, ducked, running behind him, jumping onto his back, and wrapping an arm around his neck. She held the man in this choke hold as he struggled and clawed at her arm, her bracer easily protecting her arm.
Before long the man collapsed to the ground at which point Khei jumped off. He'd be out for a while but she couldn't be sure for just how long.
She turned toward the next man and grinned.
"Who's next?"

Thea turned. She watched Khei perform her lithe movements, defeating her opponent. Thea smiled and turned at the souding of footsteps coming from behind her. She spun around and found herself punched in the face. She landed to the ground. She quickly recovered, rubbing her jaw, and stood to face her attacker. She ran at the man and kicked him hard on the side of the head before he could do anything. He spun away into the ground, blood flying from his mouth, and before he could get back up, or before she could think, Thea jumped and landed her full weight, feet-first, onto his back. She tumbled off of him. The man staggered upwards and she flung across at the man's legs and did her best to hang on. She tightened her grip on the man's legs, he lost his balance and fell into the dirt.
Thea also forgot about her knife. Somehow, during the tangle the man had grabbed it. Uh-oh. Then, she remember the sheperd's sling she had tied in her hair before she'd left. She unbound her hair and bent down to pick up a stone. She had the rock and sling ready, she started to swing it around. The stone-bullet fired and landed him directly on the head. He looked around a moment, quite dizzy, then he fell to the floor, rubbing his head. She walked over and stood over him. She snatched the knife out of his hand and pocketed it. Ha Ha.

Khei took aim at her next target and charged. The man must have been more experienced in fighting as he used the pole he had been using to beat the man on the ground with expert grace.
Khei ducked and successfully dodged the first swing, however she was unlucky enough to find the pole hit her square in the back, knocking her a good 9 feet away. She groaned and jumped back to her feet to have another go but took another hit from his pole, laying her flat on the ground again.
Perhaps I'm a bit in over my head with this man..

The young man continued to remain unconcious.

Thea looked around, while binding her hair back up quickly. She saw the young man who had been knocked out. His chest was still rising and falling. He was still breathing. Out of the corner of her eye she saw Khei. A man had whacked Khei with a pole...
Anger shot through her and she ran at the man. She had no inclination to let this man leave the fight unharmed. She jumped his back and his pole seemed more threatening than ever. He then heaved her off his back. She landed on the ground with a nasty thud. The man swung the pole at her. The pole connected with her shoulder. She let out a yelp. The pain was almost unbearable. She tried getting up but the pain was too much. She sat awkwardly on side, thinking about her sudden options.

The man grinned menacingly as he raised his pole to take another swing at Thea. Clearly this man was nothing more than a brute. Taking advantage of a person who's already been knocked to the ground.
Right as he started to swing there was a loud "CRACK". The man's face contorted into one of surprise and pain before he crumpled onto the ground. Behind the man stood the young man, still holding another pole he had hit the man in the head with.
Once the attacker had been dispatched, the young man tossed the pole to the side and turned to find the jewel vendor that started this fight. He stomped angrily to the man and gripped him by his robes, bringing his face close to the terrified vendor. Clearly he wasn't so brave without his thugs.
"May you be so cursed as to never sell so much as a rock to a blind man for the rest of your days."
With that he dropped his grip and turned away from the man.
"As I said. We are now even. I trust, for your sake, that I shall never meet you again."

Thea staggered upwards onto her feet, watching the man and his interaction with, by what she heard, was the instigator of the brawl. She rubbed her shoulder, praying the injury would not be as bad as it felt. She dared not even look at it. She was ashamed to admit that her pride hurt more than the injury. She felt like she should thank the man, but at the moment was not a good opportunity. She made her way over to Khei's side.
"What do you think started this whole thing?" she asked Khei, eyeing the man suspiciously.

Khei slowly got to her feet, groaning at the throbbing pain in her back and shoulders. She too watched the exchange before shaking her head at Thea's question.
"I'm not entirely sure but clearly those men had a serious problem with this guy."
She winced and readjusted her clothes, dusting herself off.
"Perhaps we should ask him?"

Having, seemingly, to have resolved the problem, the young man wiped the blood from his lip and chin. He didn't seem terribly bothered that he was badly battered. His smile returned as he watched the vendor run off toward his stand.
With no further entertainment, the gathered mob began to dissipate as merchants and patrons all returned to what they had been doing before the fight.
The young man walked over to Khei and Thea and gave them a polite bow.
"I must thank you for providing a distraction. I imagine that little spat would likely have lasted for some time had you not involved yourselves. Now if you'll excuse me. I do have more pressing matters to attend to."

Thea was a little taken aback. A distraction? Without them he might have been beaten to a pulp. Sure, he was a great fighter but he was outnumbered...She shook the thoughts away and decided to keep civilised.
"Are you sure you are feeling alright though? You were unconcious after all?" she asked.

The young man stopped and rolled his eyes as he was addressed.
I can feel it.. This one can fight but she's a lawful one.. Ugh I'm going to be sick if I have to..
He stopped his train of thought to rethink how he could turn this to his advantage.
Wait. If I play along.. Act the victim.. Be.. good.. Maybe I can get these fools to help find my stone. Three can find it faster than one.. Hmm..
His smile returned as he spun around. His movements impossibly smooth and fluid.
"Oh that? That was nothing. I've been through worse. I'm perfectly fine. Everything intact."

"That's good," Thea said, suddenly relieved. She shoved her hands into her pockets and asked, "By the way, what's your name?"

The young man gave Thea a polite semi-bow.
"I've been known by many names but you may call me Ashven."
He thought to himself briefly before continuing.
"Or, after the curious habit you huma... Erm.. People.. have of shortening names, You may call me Ash for short if you prefer."

Khei stood quietly behind Thea and simply listened while she looked the man over. Something bothered her about him but she kept it to herself for now.
