Indeed it doesn't sound too tempting at the moment, but I think that nevertheless we'll catch up with the seasons we haven't watched yet. And as soon as we've reached that particular ep, I'll let you know.

After recent watching the rest of Smallville, I must add one next couple: Lois and Clark
I think that their relationship was greatly captured there. It developed gradually over years. It started as two people who are a little annoyed by the second and do not care about the second too much (although the truth was different), they became friends after that; the colleagues at work who work better together than each separately later. They gradually fell in love and they ended like partners and soul mates at the end of the TV series.
I was a big fan of relation between Clark and Chloe during the first seasons as well. I have never understood how Clark could have been so fascinated by Lana, when there was Chloe next to her. I found Chloe much more interesting character than Lana and she was more beautiful. I like the final episodes of the first season where it looked that they could become a real pair and I was very disappointed when it was dismissed out of hand at the beginning the season two. During the progress of years, I started to think that they are better as best friends; because I was reassured that Clark would never love Chloe similarly as she loved him. She understood it as well and she moved on in her life.
Although there was not any romantic relationship between them, I also liked the interaction between Clark and Tess in final seasons. She probably had a crush on him a little, but their friendship was also pleasure to watch. Tess started as a character that was torn between good and evil, but Clark helped her to return back on the good side, she was saved by him. She became a good person thanks to him and his next ally in the fight with evil.
I have never liked Lana very much. I did not understand why she was called as the prettiest girl in the school/the town (everywhere) and why all guys were so fascinated by her. Not only Clark, but also Lex, Jason, Whitney, Adam and many next. She was not ugly, but there appeared a lot more beautiful girls in the whole TV series ((main, recurring or minor) who were not adored by every boy around. I liked her first relationship with Whitney. I know that Whitney was not very popular among fans, but I liked this guy very much. He was a stereotypical jock at the beginning of the first season, but he went through hard times in his life during this year and he became a good man at the end of the season. He died as a true hero for protection of lives of the other people.

I never got into Clark and Lois with Smallville. I also never got past season 6 though. I have always adored Clark and Chloe; their relationship with so intense that it was almost natural for them to fall in love. I mean, in the original Superman, Clark and Lois don't meet until he goes to work for the Daily Planet, so it wasn't out of the realm of possibility that he'd fall for Chloe as a teen and young adult before going to work at the DP. In any case, Chloe is the one, according to Smallville, who got him interested in journalism!
As for my new fictional couple fav....Outlanders' James Alexander Malcolm Mackenzie Fraser and Claire Elizabeth Beachum-Randall-Fraser!

I agree, I was also a big fan of the relationship between Clark and Chloe. I became tired by eternal hovering of Clark around Lana very quickly. I wish there would be developed more the relationship between Clark and Chloe, she could be his first love, you are right, Chloe got him interested in journalism in Smallville. I know that the original is different, but who cares, The Adventures of Sinbad did not stick to the original stories about Sinbad as well, but we still like it, do not we?
I liked Lois with Clark in Smallville, but before they started to be a couple, I assumed long time ago that Clark and Chloe are better as the best friends. Chloe loved Clark, but he still looked that he takes her (in the terms of love only) as a second option if it did not work with Lana. And it seems to me a little insulting.
