@ Sarah: Venus in Furs a novel that Leopold von Sacher-Masoch wrote and its about a submissive man, Severin, who wants to be treated degradingly by a woman. That woman, called Wanda loves the idea, but is at the same time hateful at his degrading criteria. It ends with Wanda yearning for a man to control her, and Severin decides to make women suffer and whatnot until they have equal rights as men.
Eerie novel, I know. The band "The Velvet Underground" wrote a song about it.

One more pairing I like: EduardoXKylie from Extreme Ghostbusters. I just love their love-hate relationship. The chemistry somewhat relates to me acting the way towards an aloof ladyfriend.

I realize I never really posted in this thread, although I got a few favourite couples. Uh well, I feel like catching up on that now. ^^ So, let's see: Movies- Forrest Gump - Forrest Gump & Jenny Curran Gump (most amazing couple ever, mainly because Forrest is just so faithful and loves her so much... watching him stand at Jenny's grave and talk with her still makes me cry, no matter how often I have watched the movie already)
- Pride & Prejudice (2005) - Fitzwilliam Darcy & Elizabeth Bennet (just... aww, and together with Forrest & Jenny my absolute favourite movie couple)
- The Mummy 1 & 2 - Rick O'Connell & Evelyn Carnahan (most likely my second fav movie couple, not counting the Dragon Emperor one though... that lady there wasn't Evie. Period!)
- WALL·E - WALL·E & Eva (they're too cute, really! xD )
- Nightmare Before Christmas - Jack Skellington & Sally
- Pirates of the Caribbean - Will Turner & Elizabeth Swann
TV series- Adventures of Sinbad - Sinbad & Maeve (canon), Doubar & Bryn (fanon )
- Fringe - Peter Bishop & Olivia Dunham (those two are at the very top of my fav pairings - seriously, a fateful love that survives an altered timeline and whatnotelse... can't to anything but adore it and them!)
- Doctor Who - 9th Doctor & Rose (a rather recent addition to the list but already they're in my top three, 'caus they've got an amazing chemistry those two and... seriously, risking to die only so that the other will be safe... how can you not adore them? :3)
- How I Met Your Mother - Barney Stinson & Robin Scherbatsky (just gotta love 'em!)
- Spaced - Tim Bisley & Daisy Steiner
- Remington Steele - Remington Steele & Laura Hold (my first fav couple ever ^^)
- Stargate SG1 - Jack O'Neill & Sam Carter
- Monk - Adrian & Trudy Monk (we hardly ever get to see Trudy but seriously... he loves her so much - you just can not not like them)
Books- Lord of the Rings - Aragorn & Arwen
- Harry Potter - Ron Weasley & Hermione Granger (what can I say? They're cute together. (: )
... Asides from those there's nothing much to add in this catergory as far as I am aware. Haven't read too many books that contain couples I liked. And even LotR doesn't really do... it's all just in the Appendixes after all, so... *shrugs*
(Because I feel they're so terribly underrated although they can be just as - or even more - beautiful than the couple pairings) Movies- Pirates of the Caribbean - Will Turner, Elizabeth Swann & Jack Sparrow (soo dysfuctional but just great!)
- Pirates of the Caribbean - Jack Sparrow & Joshamee Gibbs (Gibbs always reminds me of Doubar, lol)
- Dragonheart - Bowen & Draco (so funny, and just heartwarming in a way)
- The Mummy Returns - Ardeth Bay & Horus (the li'l falcon)
- Kung Fu Panda - Po & Tigress
- WALL·E - WALL·E & Cockroach
TV Series- Red Dwarf - Lister & Rimmer (the most dysfunctional friendship EVER but just awesome)
- Adventures of Sinbad - the whole Nomad Crew ;D
- How I Met Your Mother - Barney Stinson & Robin Scherbatsky (yup, I'll list them here, too, because they're just awesome - even when they're just friends)
- Law & Order Criminal Intent - Robert Goren & Alexandra Eames (they could also be shipped and as far as I remember the series didn't quite make it clear what they were in the end but I will list them as friends)
Books- Lord of the Rings - Gimli & Legolas (by far my fav friendship pairing!)
- Lord of the Rings - Legolas & Aragorn (though the movies might have had a great influence there)
- All Quiet on the Western Front - Paul Bäumer & Stanislaus Katczinsky (I seriously cried when Kat died)
Alright, I think that's it. I should have mentioned the favourite ones. There are or were quite some other minor pairings that I liked in the last couple of years, but I don't think it's worth mentioning them. Also, if I were to only list those I do actively support/ship I would cut it down to the few I wrote in bold letters.

Oooh, good thread, I'd never seen it before! I just have to add the disclaimer that while I'm into some VERY good TV shows, I'm also into some VERY VERY bad ones TV couples: Farscape: Aeryn and Crighton Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's The Lost World: Marguerite and Roxton Pacific Blue: Chris and TC Firefly: Simon and Kaylee Rizzoli and Isles: Rizzoli and Isles Xena: Xena and Gabriëlle Higher Ground: Peter and Sophie Adventures of Sinbad: Maeve and Sinbad Rookie Blue: Sam and Andy Joan of Arcadia: Luke and Grace Fringe: Olivia and Peter Castle: Beckett and Castle Stargate SG-1: Daniel and Vala (used to be Sam/Jack, but got bored) Star Trek Voyager: B'Elanna and Tom Movies: Well I tend not to get too invested in movie-couples- they're just in your life for two hours so they don't really stick... Books: Pride and prejudice: Lizzy and Darcy (and PS, if you like the 2005 movie version, go watch the 1995 mini-series, it's so good!) The Princess Bride: Wesley and Buttercup A Song of Ice and Fire: Lord and Lady Stark (doesn't go so well...) I sail proudly on the Friendship ship as well so: TV friendships: Farscape: Crighton/D'Argo Higher Ground: Daisy/Shelby Pacific Blue: Cory/Chris Xena: Xena/Gabriëlle (I both ship them and friendship them!) Castle: Ryan/Esposito Adventures of Sinbad: The crew, seconded NCIS: The Gibblets Babylon 5: John/Ivanova SG-1: Daniël/Teal'c/Sam Bleach: Tatsuki/Orihime and Tatsuki/Ichigo until they stepped all over her and hurt her and Bones: Angela/Bones Books: Artemis Fowl: Artemis/Holly Pride and Prejudice: Jane and Lizzy DiscWorld: Nanny Ogg and Granny Weatherwax I'm probably going to be thinking of more the moment I post this, but I've been going on long enough!

Oooooh, nice listing there. ;D
'N yeah, it's an old thread really, this one. Hasn't been used for ages, but I just felt like re-activating it. Glad to see this proves to be of entertainment not only to me but others, too. ;D
Aye, they are awesome. ;D I guess they'd also managed to make it into my fav list had the series not been cancelled. x)
OMG, so true. I used to watch that show as well and while at first I didn't like either of those two, I ended up finding them pretty cute together. Totally forgot about'em. xD
Hum, yeah, they were kinda funny together. Still they somehow didn't manage to outshine Sam/Jack for me. *shrug* Although I must say it was pretty mean just how little S/J shippers got fed... xP
As for movies... that's indeed true. You usually only get to follow them for one or two hours and that's it. Ah well, some of them are still too lovely as not to like them. ^^
Hum, I never watched the whole series but one of the eps if I am not mistaken. And in case I remember well I found it not charming enough in a way. Cannot tell what exactly was the problem about it. I guess I was kinda spoiled already the 2005 movie and its little more modern look. *shrug* But maybe I should just try once more? ^^
Yay, and happy to see another one sail on the Friendship ship. ;D
All in all great listing. I'm afraid I don't know all of the couples you mentioned, but I enjoy it lots to see that we have some of them in common. Hehe.

I loved Marguerite, she was such a complex character! I loved that she deliberately antagonised, that she easily lied and was very greedy... and that those traits, coupled with her smarts and (eventual) fierce loyalty, routinely saved them all. Why her shirt was never buttoned properly after the first season remains a mystery though! Could be... I watched the mini first and the film later and though the film had some really pretty views etc there were two things that made me kinda dislike it: First: the set it in the wrong time-period which made all the stiff formality make a lot less sense (there's a pig in their garden! Seriously!) and the second: Lizzy seemed to actually consider Darcy's first proposal, she seemed torn, wanting to accept but unable to do so, while in the book she's like: Duuuude! You spat on my family just now! You LOWER yourself for me? After you F'd up my sister's happiness and royally &&%#$% poor Whickham? Hells to the No! You ain't no gentleman! And your awfullness makes me not even want to be polite to you let alone marry you! Heh, and I totally loved that attitude in Lizzy, though her confrontation with Lady Lucas in the garden was the awesomest of all ;D Great minds think alike But really, if you want to see any of them, go for Higher Ground, (part 1 ep 1: www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Na4ZHxehv0) little bit slow start but gets really heart-wrenchingly good later in the season. I've heard many good things about Red Dwarf but only saw the pilot... Does the rest of the series hold up now that it's 20 years old? Is it worth checking out a little more from?
