@talya and all, well, I'm not a big fan of Liv Tyler although she did do a good job with Arwen. But, I might be wrong, but Arwen didn't do those things in the books. She ride out to get Frodo, that was Glorifendel, right? She just sat home and knitted. Do you know that Tolkien first wrote Eowyn as Aragorn's mate/match? He changed it though because of the time he wrote it in. An independant woman wasn't going to be accepted, so he changed Aragorn's lover/wife to Arwen, who was prim and proper...good for the time. Also, although the romance was hopeful and wonderful, it wasn't built on a lot if I remember the story right. They met once and he was in love. She didn't love him though. They had a second meeting and she was ready to give up her immortality for him?? That's a little fast...but then again it was a fairytale type of love. Whimsical and all that. Never mind the fact that they are cousins. Very distant cousins, but cousins nonetheless. @sinbadand Doubar, I remember waiting for the trilogy to come out too! The movies always came out near or on my brithday so my dad and I made a day of it to celebrate my birthday! |
