I had some doubts about certain points there, but your explanation makes good sense and although there were some obvious clues that something is wrong, I think that their fooling is believable and that it could happen to anyone. We'll have to disagree there. I was aware of the very obvious allusion to Stockholm syndrome. Still doesn't work for me. They made no effort to listen or ask anything even when she fought back and seemed a willing lover and they knew that. Despite blatant evidence that the situation merited further investigation, they just went right ahead and tied up and gagged her. That bothers me a lot. It seems very out of character to me. They didn't need to believe her, necessarily, but they did need to listen, to investigate, to try to ascertain the truth. I know they were in a hurry, but it could have at least been "let's get somewhere safe and find out what's really going on." Oh, I definitely think she still steals afterwards. Her speech at the end is just so much like her earlier speech about realizing her wrongs and not wanting to steal anymore. And then she stole a guy's horse. Nope, I think she's exactly the same after this adventure with Sinbad as she was before it.

I see where you are coming from, Tzigone, and your argument is definitely a valid one. On the other hand, as long as they were in Turhan's territory what else was there to do than to hurry up? And once inside the caves/exit Bellamur had already ambushed them. I think it isn't too far off to assume that they would even have talked with Jial once out of the valley. After all, for all they knew Bellamur didn't know the exact location of the entrance to Turhan's camp so there was no way they could have expected him to show up there which means there was no real plan of handing Jial over right after escaping. It's just me theorizing I am aware and I don't mean to defend the choices made. I can easily see why the crew's reaction bothers you and I definitely agree with you and Manche in that it was somewhat OOC for the crew. Just, I found I can imagine what explanations the screen-writers found were just reasonable enough. Yeah, most likely she didn't change much. Even though I can see her do a little good here and there if the occassion allows for it. She'd certainly not make a big effort or anything, but if it comes as a side-effect she won't mind. In any case, she was presented as likable and seeing Doubar and Sinbad both possess a strong sense of justice and moral we have to assume that Talya has to be a good person at heart and an honourable pirate of sorts.

It is only a question of our different opinions we can not definitely say that the opinion of one of us is right. But it created an interesting discussion here definitely. I still consider their fooling as the believable despite some controversial points but I understand your opinion on this situation as well, tzigone.
And Talya, I agree with Doubar in this. I would say that she was a good person in heart and that she tried to change her life after this adventure. If she managed it, it is a completely different question.

Oh, indeed. There is no way to tell who of us is right, because it's just our opinions on a show. There's no wrong or right and discussing about it all is what makes being a fan so fascinating. Manche: Lol! Well spoken, Manche! And actually I can easily picture her doing good, but more in a Robin Hood kind of way and even then she'll always also keep something to herself. She just loves the life of a pirate too much and in the end, Talya will always remain Talya. And don't we love her for it?

Oh, the comparison with Robin Hood is quite precise. I could imagine that she would progress in a similar way.

Why do you think that Bellamur was still waiting for the crew and Turhan in the valley after he gained Jial back? He could easily leave the island with her at this point. He wanted his revenge against Turhan and he was sure that Turhan will follow them?
