New forum settings

Hello guys

Just to give you a short heads up: the staff of forums have been notified that there will be software adjustments somewhen between today and a month from now, in other words: the look of the forums will apparently change. I cannot get a full grab yet on how exactly it will change, nor am I sure whether I like it, because I like the look and features as they are right now, but we don´t have a say in it. It´s new software that is being implimented on all existing forums.

In addition to that, Doubs warned me that apparently the changes are so far still having some childhood deseases across forums, in other words there might be temporary problems such as with your logins that however should be easily solvable with the help of the support board. Just go give you guys a warning that if anything seems off or weird, that´s where it comes from.

Just letting you guys know that at last our forum, too, is scheduled to be upgraded. The new version will be up somewhen in the next few weeks, and hopefully we won't encounter any troubles with the change. Still, should you find yourself having difficulties logging in (like as has been reported happened when the first boards were upgraded in spring) or should anything else be peculiar, please let either Sinbad or me know.

Most of you have either my e-mail address or are connected to me on fb. If none of that's the case you can also contact me via fanfic.net or YT, and there's always also still our DL e-mail address that you can use (I'll make sure to check that regularly as soon as we've been upgraded, just in case).

So, as you can see the forum has apparently been upgraded. Everything looks a tad different now, and our visitor statistics have obviously been resetted, but apart from that things should remain the same.

We will try and get the banner back up soon, and hope you do not encounter any troubles with the new outlay.

additional: Please visit the Privacy Settings in your profile. It might be they have been set on default, so please make sure they are exactly how you want them to be.

Also, you can now receive e-mail notifications on threads or posts or many other things. If you do not want to flooded with them, go and check the 'Notifications' area in your profile and make the necessary adjustments.

Important Notice:

Both Manche and Teti have reported problems about logging in. Personally, I was fine with both this and my Mala account. I seem to face difficulties with Majid because he is signed up with the same e-mail address as Doubar but that should be easily solved.

Now, as for you guys. I went over to proboards to see whether log in issues after the update have already been reported and indeed they have. As a general advice of dealing with the login, here is what has been said and what worked for me as well:

1) Visit the forum, then click the "Login" link.
2) On the next page, type in your username along with the password that you used when the forum was on v4 (i.e. before the update).
3) If you used the correct username and password combination, you should be taken to an account upgrade page where you can create a global account (using your email address) and will be able to login to the forum after that point.

If you do the above and get an "Invalid Username / Password" error, revisit the login page for the forum, then click the "Forgot your password?" link. Once here, type in your username in the box provided and click the recover button (do not enter your email address on this page). Once that's done, a password reset email will be sent to the email address proboatds have on file for you (what you used when the forum was running v4). After you get that email and reset the password, you should be able to go through the above steps again without issue.

Working for me, at least for my admin account. Interestingly, proboards greeted me, when I logged on, as "Shade" which is an account for an entirely different proboards forum. I guess it has to do with the fact that I use the same mail addy and password over there, but that never caused any interference... Gonna see how it works out with the other account..

It appears quite a good number of accounts need to be re-approved of. This mainly seems to concern "younger" accounts as old ones like Mala and Caipra worked just fine.

We hope to approve of all the pending ones as soon as we can, and apologize in advance for any inconvenience caused.

Notified people on facebook and just posted a request to the support board, because all accounts are already approved. I´m sure they´ll be able to fix thing soon.

Everything is working fine for me! Or at least, it is with Kalani's account. Already had a global account (equine forum I'm a part of was updated quite a while ago). Luckily, the transition from V4 to V5 has gone MUCH smoother for me here at DL than it did at the other site. The troubles I had logging in when WE was updated... I swear I almost went insane. e.e But yay for everything working fine here! Though I haven't tried Bran's account yet. lol Poor boy isn't getting much attention. xD

Things seemed to go a little more smoothly on another board I am on and that is by now mostly inactive, but then again I´m not an admin there and might just not have noticed all of it going on.
