Hey!
I watched that episode yesterday and a few things caught my attention.
#1. After the first visit in the temple where the giant spider eats the poor victim, the crew is back at the pilgrim camp and as Firouz, Sinbad, Doubar, Rongar and Talya discuss what to do and what to bring in as an offering for the next visit, you can see Maeve in the background playing with the elephants! She's such an animal lover!
#2. During the second visit at the temple, after contemplating the Eye of Kratos, when in the alley on the way out, Maeve tries to warn the crew that Talya's only intention is to steal the eye. Then Talya disappears and Sinbad says he's gonna try to find her. Maeve turns around to argue but he urges to go reassuringly. They grab hand/wrist at that moment. ^^
#3. I like the way they cut the scenes. When Dermot has warned the crew that Sinbad and Talya are trapped in the cage with the spider, Maeve says worriedly "Not to mention the damage Talya's hooks can accomplish during the night." She definitely doesn't trust her around Sinbad and what she'll try to do to win him over. Then it immediately cuts to the scene where Talya asks Sinbad "So...this Maeve...what is she to you?". Now, we can't see Sinbad's face very clearly in the shot, but it looks to me as if he's smiling to himself there for a moment before answering. ^^

3 : he totally is. His answer is purposedly evasive (something like ''she's part of my crew ...'' letting his sentence trail off.

One of my favourite episodes from this season.
The character of Talya was quite interesting and funny for me, it was not easy to predict what her character will be doing in the next minutes (for the first time i did not expect that she will threaten Sinbad because of the eye of Kratos, i expected that she is able to steal it inconspicuously to him when she was such a clever thief) she had the great interaction with Sinbad and others, the tension between Maeve and her was also great done, it was evident that Maeve is usually able to recognize when someone has ulterior motives and her jealousy towards Talya's relationship towards Sinbad was shown again. I like the scene by the fire, where the rest of the crew debated how they should get to the temple and Maeve had fear which damages can Talya cause during the night.
We can find some humour there also, i like most the Firouz's allergy to incense which complicated the crew the journey throught the temple and how desperately he tried to overcome it, without the success and his thinking how to get to the sanctuary during which he accidentally pressed the right button. And his comment towards it... The poor boy, nobody from the crew had the interest about it again.
As i said Talya was funny character and she brought some humour this episode as well, for example her gifts to Kratos or the decision to find an appropriate ship at the end.
And do you think that the highest priest was the only one who knew about the fact that the eye of Kratos is false? If the guards did not know about this fact, their final interruption of fight would make the sense. In the opposite case i would expect that they will continue with the fight.
The good relaxing episode, more humorous than serious, although we can find more serious scene there, the first visit of the crew to the temple when they were the witnesses of the drastic punishment of the unbeliever.

Oh, I LOVE this ep! It's one of my favourites, counting in both seasons. And I guess it totally is because of Talya. ;D She's such a great char and it's such a pity we didn't get to see more of her. I loved how close she was to Doubar and how she immediately won over the guys. Even Dermott liked her. ;D And her hinting at whatever she and Sinbad had back then just to tease and embarrass the captain a little... ehi, those scenes still make me laugh. ;D Yup, Maeve's jealousy definitely was awesome, too. xD Aw, but right, poor Firouz. Nobody ever listens to him when he starts explaining stuff. *pats head* Which is just why I love it so much.

Yes, she definitely had the good chemistry with the crew, especially with Sinbad, Doubar and Maeve. I read some stories where we have the opportunity to meet her again and it was good also, in the altenative stories of the season two I was intrigued by the fact that the author suggested the idea of the relationship between her and the returnee Mustapha. Honestly, some aspects in their characters were a little similar, i never realized it.
Maybe one of the funniest episodes from the whole tv series, together with The double trouble (Rumina pretends being Sinbad was also very funny).
And Firouz, maybe he should get used to similar situations, it was not the first time where something similar happened. It was funny how he strongly warned to others not to make any noise and after that he was the only person who caused the troubles during the journey.

One thing which i do not understand very much in this episode, how this spider got to the cage when he was supposed to punish unbelievers? The cage was certainly locked and he was too big for slipping through the bars. It was probably the normal lock, no magical which could be open with the usage of spell only (these priests and guards did not look that they would be able to control magic at all). And if the door would be unlocked, it would not be very wise, do not you think?
