Summary:
When a group of bandits led by the assassin Korla attack and kill the members of a caravan Sinbad and crew are entrusted with the safety of an infant, Ajeeb, by his dying mother. She tells the crew they must take the baby to the Balardi monks who will care for him. Sinbad accepts the mission and the crew sets off across the desert with the infant who wears an inscribed gold ring around his neck.
Korla, his men and the wizard Parra follow Sinbad and crew. The wizard calls forth the Vors, sand demons, to dispose of the crew and the baby. Bryn protects the baby with her magic while the crew disposes of the Vors. Rongar scouts ahead of the others and finds the bridge leading to Balardi. While he goes back to the crew to lead them to the bridge Parra appears and casts a spell making the bridge invisible.
When Rongar leads the crew back to where the bridge had once been he is surprised to find it missing. The crew sets up camp as the frustrated Rongar tries to find his bridge. He tosses sand onto the chasm where the bridge should be and discovers the wizard's deception. Rongar hurries back to the crew and finds them under attack by Korla and his men. Rongar and Sinbad manage to get the upper hand on Korla and hold him prisoner until they cross over the bridge to safety.
The crew and the baby reach the town of Balardi. They find the monastery in ruins and the citizens of the town terrified to defend themselves against the bandits. The leader of the town recognizes the golden band around the child's neck and tries to convince the people to rally to protect the child. An archer under Korla's orders kills the town leader. Sinbad and crew take shelter in the ruins of the monastery. As Bryn crouches behind the altar with the baby the crew lines up at the windows and try to keep Korla's men out. Bryn instinctively places the baby on the altar where two golden rings suspended from the ceiling begin to spin. The baby Ajeeb is transformed into a warrior monk. He warns the bandits to surrender as he mows through their ranks with his wooden staff. He turns to Korla who grabs Bryn to use as a shield. Ajeeb drops his weapon as Sinbad slides up beside Korla and kills the man who has a blade pressed against Bryn's throat. Ajeeb thanks the crew for their help and tells them that he is going to rebuild the order of the Balardi monks.
