Sinbad had meant to ask the very same question about the cat that his brother then had asked before he could and he had shifted his chair aside a little, to make room for Doubar, stiffling an amused grin when he saw the obvious awkwardness with which the other man handled the cat.
He gave a small shrug. "She´d be practical." he said. "and there would be no trouble about food, there are always enough rats and mice to catch on a ship." To be honest, the animal looked a little too fluffy and young to be able to do that but it was a cat after all, all cats learned that sort of thing after a while, right?
At the mention of Dermott, he noticed that Firouz was right. He, too, had not seen the hawk since the day before and for some reason that again gave him a sudden pang in his chest because even after all this time he still connected him to...her. He forced that thought aside, deciding that it would not do him any good.

Bryn took the little creature back from Doubar. she rested her on her lap as the mentioning of Dermot made her look around curiously expecting to find him somewhere around.
She didn't see him last night.
It was unfamiliar from her feather friend to be nowhere around her. especially after what she experienced the night before. "I didn't see him last night."she frowned, slight worry began to creep into her heart.
"I mean, you know last night I wasn't in a proper state to even feel him" she whispered to nobody in particular as her head bent down, trying to isolate herself from the buzz around her and concentrate on the contact between her and Dermot.
she focused... Suddenly she panicked.... she couldn't sense him.... she couldn't feel him at all.
"I can't feel him!!!"
she raised her head swiftly at the guys, "But... but that's impossible"
"I can't feel him at all"
"something must have happened to him" her eyes widened as fear declared itself in her features.

Doubar's eyebrows rose in surprise as Firouz asked for the hawk. It was indeed unusual that the bird was not with the sorceress, but he had half-assumed that she had simply left him to wait in her room till she brought him some food. Now however, as the big man saw the expression on the sorceress' face change, and saw how fear suddenly shaded her velvet eyes, he himself grew slightly concerned, too. He had no idea how this "feeling" the bird worked at all - or for that matter how she could talk with him. The last time someone had mentioned they had lost the connection to Dermott the witch Rumina had captured him, but they hadn't met that one in over a year. The first mate just couldn't imagine that the black sorceress had anything to do with this - but there was always that cryptical warning which the hawk had given them the day before, and Doubar himself had way too little knowledge about magic and the bird as that he would know anything for sure. So hoping that maybe there was a harmless reason for it all he offered a little helplessly: "He's been with you when we left your room last night. Maybe he just took off for a flight and went too far?"

Eager to help calm Bryn's sudden panic, for he didn't mean to cause all this by asking after their feathered crewmen, he placed a hand on her shoulder and suggested, "Perhaps like Doubar said, he might simple be too far away."
He looked to the window and added meaningfully for it sounded all to logical to him, "Maybe you just need to step outside to clear your head, you know?"

Sinbad could see the young woman turn pale at her own words. He had seen her the night before and with all that had been going on with her powers going overboard and everything that resulted from it, maybe she still could not fully trust her senses. He hardly knew anything about magic at all, but it sounded at least somewhat possible.
Therefore he nodded even though he was so naive to put a worry like that at rest completely. He would have been a bad capitain if that was what he did. But what he said was something different: "Doubar is right." he said. "Dermott knows how to look after himself. Maybe you are just still tired. Don´t worry. If he´s not back by noon, we´ll make sure to look after him."

Bryn turned her head away to face the door and, got up to leave. "I will just be a few minutes" She softly stated as she set the kitten on the chair where she just was and gave her one last stroke. Bryn then briskly walked towards the door.
"Dermott" Bryn whispered as she stepped into the sun. She walked around the tavern, Making sure he hadnt accidently fallen and was unable to fly or connect to her. However as she turned the last corner towards the front of the Inn. He was no where in sight.
Bryn turned and left the tavern behind. "Where are you" she thought as she swished her head in all directions. The city was already bustling with activity, and before Bryn was aware she was far down the main street. She stopped and decided to turn back towards the tavern.

"Bryn!" Doubar half-whispered when suddenly the young sorceress got up, sending nothing but a short line her friends' way. His pale blue eyes followed her as she crossed the hall quickly, her own gaze never leaving the door that lead outside. There was a certain absent-mindedness about her that the first mate had gotten to know just too well - one that he had already seen with the Lass whenever she had focused all her senses on the hawk which the crew had long accepted to be one of their members.
"For Allah's sake", he mumbled before finally he tilted his head to look at his two remaining friends with a frown on his face. For a second he felt like he was thrown back in time, Bryn's sudden excuse to leave for a walk still sounding in his ears. It was not like he didn't trust the brunette not to run into trouble once more or like he felt she couldn't get along in Basra on her own, but having seen her come back to them all frightened and pale the evening before had all his instincts still set on alert. And he was not going to let things get out of control again. So, while allowing his shoulders to shrug in an impatient way, he addressed Firouz and Sinbad: "Are we gonna follow or not?"

Firouz tilted his head as he thought over Doubar's words.
"Perhaps we should let her go; she's smart enough to handle most things..." he stood up and subconsciously touched his hilt, "then again we do have a tendancy to get into trouble wherever we go."
He looked at the brothers.

Sinbad sent something that almost resembled an eyeroll into the direction of the inventor and was already on his feet. "That´s what I´m worried about," he murmured, vividly recalling the last time they had let Bryn trod off on her own. Same as his brother, Sinbad did not doubt she was a grown woman that was very well capable of looking after herself it was just...things were a little strange around here and he did not feel comfortable about letting her wander off on her own again after how the evening before had treated her.

Still grumpy, Kriss was sitting and observing a stir among her guests. Full of apathy, she just sighed at them hoping that they were not going to bring any new troubles. She had never thought that being a tavern's owner can have such the aspects. Once again she threw an ignorant glance at the disturbance of the crew, she put back her mug and taking Aniel on her arms she stood up to imperceptibly vanish on the stairs a moment later.

Doubar heaved a sigh of his own at his brother's words. Indeed their tendency to get into trouble was just what was the problem. And obviously Bryn had gotten used to that habit of the crew quicker than was good for her, or her friends for that matter. "Why can't, only for once, things go according to plan?", the first mate then grumbled more to himself than to anyone else, before he turned to cast a glance at the counter where the tavern owner had just been a moment ago. Realizing she must've already sent someone to bring them their breakfast, he intended to give her a short excuse, saying that they'd be back in a moment, but he found her spot empty. Deciding it wouldn't matter that much anyway whether the young woman knew about her guests leaving for a minute, for they were paying for the food and rooms anyway, Doubar directed his gaze back to his brother and friend who both were ready to leave. And with a "What are we waiting for then?", the big man finally followed their resident sorceress who by now had long left the tavern behind.

"Nothing at all, brother," Sinbad said, his face somewhat tense. He had no good feeling at all in letting the sorceress go out alone, his gut just told him to not let things out of his hands again. He got up and followed his brother. "Bryn, wait up for us." he called after her when he caught up with his brother.

The young brunette turned around when she heard Sinbad's call. She didnt know how long she was being followed by them, nor did she seem to mind them being there. She gave the crew a small smile, as she joined them.
"Dermott should of been back by now." Bryn's voice was low. Concern etched her face. She was having a hard time feeling for his presence and that worried her. She could always feel when he was near.

Firouz walked up to her, gave her a smile, and said, "I'm sure he's fine Bryn. He is a clever hawk, and can handle himself very well."
He offered a hand to her, waved outward towards the awakening bazzar, and suggested with a look at Sinbad, "We can always go look for him."

When Bryn turned towards the group of three and slowly walked to join them, Doubar couldn't help the mute frown that settled on his face. Her behaviour definitely worried him more than the hawk not being in range for her to feel, although he certainly cared for the little feathered being. But given the fact that there seemed to be no imminent danger around, he felt pretty much like Firouz did. And when he heard his scientist friend express his confidence in their animal crewmate, he nodded in support. Stifling a sigh he turned his gaze upwards as if expecting Dermott's silhouette to just show up somewhere in the sky and absent-mindedly commented on Firouz' proposal with a muttered: "Featherbrain'd better have a good reason to be missing. There's a full breakfast waiting for us back at the tavern..."
