Hey guys.
Now, I know that our number of characters is limited to 2 chars per player and still I wanted to open this thread because the idea I have just keeps nagging on my mind...
I watched PotC this evening (once again... my I so love this trilogy ;D ) and one of my fav characters there is Tia Dalma. It might be reasoned in the Basra-plotline being somewhat frozen, but lately some possible new characters cross my mind. And basically I wanted to ask if I were allowed to make a proposal for a minor original character - you know: someone like Aidan or Cassendra - a character who only shows up for one certain plot and who is no constant part of the play therefor.
Because the one who keeps nagging on my mind is her:
I just think her to be awesome and she's so different from all I've ever played or written about...
In my eyes the original would show some of her traits but would not be a Mary Sue (that's the right word for it isn't it?). Meaning: she would share Tia Dalma's ambiguity and her way of speaking in riddles at times; but she surely enough would not be a Goddess bound to a human body.
I could imagine a plot (in a far, far away future I guess ;D ) where the crew is on a quest2 (of whatever kind it is - it could be related to Ash, the bracelets, DimDim, etc. or set up by a baddie or the original herself) and she's the one who can help. I'd imagine her to be a seeress1/healer or druid of some sort (but more in the sense of someone who has great knowledge [but isn't as willing as to share it freely ]) - the last one of an ancient tribe maybe. She could help the crew but act strange at the same time (in a way that could make the crew doubt that she's really on their side at all [Maeve for sure would be suspicious ]) - as this is nothing but her nature. She could be like a lazar in her village - shunned by the inhabitants but tolerated either for reasons of fear and/or because of the knowledge she has.
Right now I wouldn't even know whether she'd be good in the classical and pure sense of word, or merely following her own goals [she'd not be evil though]. She even would make for an interesting minor baddie but more do I personally like the other version.
Her name I would imagine to be Zaïra (which, according to what I read might descend from al-zÄ hir (Arabian for "protector") or Zaïre (which means "water" in Bantu).
But to cut a long story short: I wanted to ask you guys what you think of this idea; and to ask whether - if we ever got to the point where we play with plotlines like they were in the series - I was allowed to play her as a character then [she could also make for a gap filler should our long absent members not return *clearly doesn't hope so*]. Because Zaïra is so different from the other two I got that I somewhat feel attracted to trying my hand in playing a person like her.
So well, just share your thoughts with me on that one. Oh, but if anyone likes the idea and is interested in playing her themself... well then, that'd be fine with me as well.
P.S.: Think this thread can be used for any ideas we got concerning minor characters (and after all, often enough they are needed as well).
1 No offensive magic of course.
2 Well, basically she could also become part of one of the spin-offs, but personally I do not think she fits any of the existing plotlines.
