Once it reached the docks, the wolf ducked behind some boxes and other cargo that had yet to be loaded. A moment later, Ash sauntered out from behind the cargo and made his way down to the piers. He began questioning every man he could find but to no avail.
He shuffled away from the piers where he let his frustration and anger manifest as he roared and rammed his fist through a nearby wooden box. He ripped his hand away, bloodied by the splinters of wood left in the wake of his outburst. He sighed and hefted himself onto the top of the box he'd just punch a hole in the side of and slumped his shoulders.
He absentmindedly rubbed a finger across the scar on his forehead and clenched his teeth. He silently cursed himself yet again for letting his stone out of his sight in the first place. He was a Djinn and yet, for all his seemingly limitless power, he was powerless to find a simple little stone.
He shook his head and ran the fingers of both hands through his hair, holding his head as he slouched almost to his knees. He thought to himself how easily he could just disappear and manifest right where his stone was.. if only he knew WHERE it was.. Even then it would have to be a place he'd been to before or he'd have no idea how far he's have to will himself to reach it.
He cursed the emotions that were flooding his mind.
For the first time in his long life, he couldn't even force himself to smile.

Thea slowed Razi as the docks started to befall them. "We're here," she said. "Where do we begin this search, do you suppose?"

Khei thinks for a moment, slowing her own mount beside Thea's
"My guess would be near the ships."
She shrugged
"That wolf might be hungry and fish are plentiful here I would assume. and if Ash is here.. well he'd probably be asking around down there right?"

Thea nodded and got of her horse. She held the reins to steady him. "I really hope that wolf won't be dangerous and Ashven is bound to make an entrance somewhere, if not we could ask around if we can't find him."

Khei nodded and followed Thea's lead, dismounting and looking for a place to tie off the reins.
"It can't be any more dangerous than those men that were beating him up. I mean it's just one dog right?"

Thea nodded, agreeing. "One dog shouldn't be to bad. I just hope things go smooth sailing from here." Looking around a bit she saw a post. She headed towards it and tied her horse's reins to it.

Khei laughed a little, following Thea and tying off the mare.
"Smooth sailing. Boy that WOULD be nice."
She smiled and hoped that it, in fact would go smoothly but she was fairly sure that things weren't going to be smooth as long as Ash was anywhere in town.

Thea chuckled at what Khei said, agreeing entirely. She patted her horse as way of a goodbye and said, "We're do we start our little search these these miscreants?"

"I guess the piers.. Looks like there's some men down there working"
For a change, Khei started down toward the docked ships, assuming Thea would be not far behind.

Thea followed Khei's lead. "Anywhere Ash has been, there is bound to be a trail, hopefully these men are the first of the breadcrumbs. What will we do when we see Ashven?"

Khei smiled back at Thea.
"Probably ask him where he thought he was going without paying us."

Thea laughed. "Definitely," she said as they were getting closer to the men.

Khei approached a man on the dock who seemed to be helping another load cargo onto a ship and questioned him about the information the men at the tavern mentioned.
"Aye. I'll tell ya the same thing I told the last man that asked. There was a ruffled little man that came down here last night raving about bartering a ride. This morning I saw 'em bartering with some man who's ship and crew I've never seen before. I suspect he was the captain. Anyway. He seemed to take a fancy to a purple gem the man had but he wasn't keen to part with it."
The man looked around before leaning close to the two and continuing.
"Ya didn't hear it from me but the cap'n wouldn't take no for an answer. His crew jumped the man soon as he was aboard. They stripped him of everything he had, slit his throat, and fed 'em to the fishes."
He nodded toward a vacant pier.
"Dangerous lot they were. Only reason I didn't join yer friend down there is 'cause they didn't know I'd seen 'em. And if ya tell anyone else what I said I'll say yer raving mad."
He nodded to himself before going back to his work.
"Now I've a job to do if ya don't mind."
Khei shook her head and looked toward Thea.

Khei's emerald green eyes met Thea's blue ones. The story shook Thea. A man had been murdered for this stone and Ashven seemed hellbent on getting it back.
Thea was silent for a long moment. Ash had gone after the men who had taken the stone from the now-dead merchant. Would Ashven go after the murderers to reclaim his stone? Finally she cleared her throat. "What do you think we should do?" Thea asked Khei, her voice shaky.

Khei shook her head before addressing the man she'd spoken to.
"Do you know where the last man that asked about this went?"
The man stopped halfway up the boarding ramp and jerked his head behind them.
"Last I saw he headed back up toward the large cargo crates."
The man resumed his hike up the ram without further word, leaving the two on the pier. Khei looked back to Thea and shrugged.
"I guess we should see if we can find him."
