Ash watched Khei make her decision and gave a jerk of the head in her direction.
"Well I guess your friend has answered that question."
He sighed, his smile fading to a simple smirk.
"Very well.. Food then questions."
He weaved effortlessly through the crowd and seated himself at the same table, waving to the barkeep over for their orders.

As Thea took a seat next to Khei, she watched Ash beckon over the barkeep, and she looked around for the merchants they would question later. There was a group in the corner of tavern who stood out from the rest, but she couldn't be sure if they were merchants. She would let the dilemma of identifying merchants for later, her stomach growling was the more important one.
The barkeep approached them. "What would you people be craving?"
"Um, you two can order first," Thea said to Khei and Ash.

Khei smiled happily at the prospect of a meal, her uneasiness gone for the moment.
"Anything with fish please!"

Ash nodded to Thea and waited for Khei to get in her order before speaking for himself.
"A simple wine will do for myself. Just bring the bottle and glasses for three. This should be enough to cover everything."
He gave the Barkeep a handful of coins, the sight if which made the barkeep nod with a large grin on his face.
"Yessir! Thank you Sir!"
Ash on the other hand could feel the knot in his stomach growing. He had second thoughts about this whole asking for help bit but soon resolved to continue.
I've been through worse times.. If I have to I can always excuse myself temporarily to get away from all this goody goody stuff.. What I need now is that wine.. maybe a pint later..
Ash was thus engaged is his own head while the Barkeep turned toward Thea.
" .. And what can I get you miss?"

"Wine and some good bread, thank you," she said, putting on a polite smile.
When the barkeep left, Thea fiddled with one of the buttons of her jacket as for something to do. She quit the fiddling and looked up. "While we have some spare time now, how can we identify some merchants?" she asked them.

Ash watched Thea fidgeting but said nothing until she asked about identifying merchants. He took and look around before shrugging.
"I was hoping you would be better at identifying them. I've only searched marketplace vendors and establishments advertising such merchandise."
He thought for a moment before continuing.
"Left to my own devices I would simply address the patrons here and simply ask if anyone has it."

Khei watched the Barkeep leave the table and disappear into the kitchen. She continued to focus her attention on the kitchen where she last saw the barkeep until Thea spoke up. She listened to Ash's response before shrugging her own shoulders.
"If you ask me.. Gems are quite expensive right? So they likely have more money than other people right? So.. Maybe the first people to ask would be the ones who're ordering the most expensive foods."
She motioned at the various tables that seemed to have dishes that looked quite expensive in contrast to the majority of customers who've ordered simple dishes.

"Good thinking there," Thea said.
She wondered how she would coax a merchant out of gem. Ash was clearly going through a lot of trouble trying to get it. So how much would it be worth to the merchant?
She stood up. "I say we split up to find the merchant..." She slowly sat back down when she saw the barkeep return to them with their tray of food and drinks. "...right after we eat."

Khei almost audibly squealed at the sight of the food. She could barely contain herself long enough to allow the barkeep to get her dish down on the table. She thanked him politely and dove in, tearing bits off the fish with her hands. Clearly she was enjoying the food.

Ash chuckled lightly to himself at the reactions of the two to their food as he poured himself a glass of wine. He swirled it around in the glass, savoring the sweet fragrance of the liquor before snipping at it.
"Very well then. Enjoy."
He raised his glass and lowered his head briefly before sipping at the wine again.

The food was delicious. Thea was transported, and she ate with silent relish. "Magnificent," she proclaimed. Who knew these parts of Baghdad had such for fine food?
She took another sip of her tankard. A bar maid came round offering refills which Thea took eagerly. "If this place turns out to be a bust and we can't find the merchant, where do you think our next stop should be?" she asked as the bar maid filled her drink.

Ash shook his head with a light shrug before refilling his glass with more wine.
"I suspect a shop or street vendor. Maybe another establishment such as this one?"
His attention was captured by a man leaving the tavern. He looked him over quickly before reassuring himself that he wasn't likely to be a dealer in valuables. At least he hoped his evaluation was accurate. He returned his attention to Thea and Khei.
"It might be prudent if we begin questioning these.. people."

Thea nodded. "Very well," she said, finishing off the rest of her meal. She went to back to the idea she had before their meals came. "We should split up, I think, to cover more ground."

Ash nodded in return.
"Very good."
He straightened out his tunic and vest before approaching a set of tables that seemed to be primarily occupied by upper class citizens.
"Erm.. Good afternoon. I'm looking for a gemstone that was stolen from me and .."
One of the men stood up and stepped forward, drawing a knife.
"You accusin' me of thievery?"
Ash stood his ground, his smirk growing as if in defiance. He thought back on what Thea had said about approaching things differently.. Unfortunately that also meant that he would need to refrain from retching. "Playing nice" was already getting on his nerves. He wanted so much to simply turn this man into a mule for his rudeness but he refrained.
"Certainly not. I just thought that a group of upstanding citizens such as yourselves might have seen it among some of the street dealers and could point me in the right direction."
"Well.. alright then. What are you looking for?"
Ash begins explaining the description of the stone while the others go about their search..

Khei was the last to leave the table, unwilling to leave any fish on the plate. Once she finally did finish she looked around and wandered up to another table.
"Sorry to interrupt by my friend and I are trying to help a man recover a gemstone that he lost.. or.. no.. It was stolen.. Um.. would you happen to have seen it?"
The men at the table shook their heads.
"No sorry. We don't deal in jewelry."
Khei nodded with a smile politely thanking them for their help and moved on to the next table...
