I'm glad her character has been such that it isn't too difficult to picture her younger self tending more to mischief, while she's more.... controlled now. (: As for a fondness for official, ceremonial type occasions... not so much, no. Or at least, not usually. Not ALL were tedious... just most. lol

Well, at least I'd say it's nothing that seems implausible. I guess we really saw Kalani's controlled self so far, but it's not too hard to picture a more relaxed side of hers - and a younger self that was quite a tomboy. Still, the change of course is an interesting one. I for one could imagine that as she grew up at some point she simply understood the importance of her acting more like she was supposed to, and in some way she eventually internalised these manners. But that's just my humble guess. Feel free to tell me if I'm wrong. ^.^

I think leaving home most especially drove hom the need to "grow up" and to internalise her less "mature" mannerisms. I think your humble guess too is very true. ^_^
