The Empress

Summary:
A treasure hunter called Tanna hires Sinbad and his crew to lead him to the lost colony of Empress Hitreea, a Roman noblewoman who spent her entire life trying to become immortal. It is said a great treasure is buried somewhere in the confines of the colony. Their journey brings them to the island of Claxus. After brigands led by Karakul attack the ship, Sinbad and Doubar decide an expedition for a treasure that might not even exist isn’t worth the grief. Unfortunately, a dark force has placed a spell over The Nomad, preventing its sails from unfurling. The crew is forced to go ashore to try and get the spell lifted.

A long and danger-filled journey leads the crew and Tanna to the lost colony of Hitreea. While making their way through the long and winding corridors, they are greeted by Casha, a centurion loyal to Empress Hitreea. Tanna is shocked to learn that the Empress is still very much alive, having long ago learned the secret of immortality. While Doubar, Bryn, Rongar, Firouz and Tanna lay on palanquin beds and feast on Roman delicacies, Sinbad is introduced to Hitreea. She reveals that she was responsible for putting the spell on his ship in the hopes of meeting him. She believes he is the reincarnation of her long-lost lover, Lucius. Stating it is their destiny to be together for all time, Hitreea tries to get Sinbad to engulf himself in the same mystical blue flame that once granted her immortality.

Sensing her crewmate is in danger, Bryn goes with Tanna to save Sinbad while the others battle Casha and his men. Feeling his destiny is linked to Claxis, Tana stays behind while Sinbad and his crew make their way through the long and winding corridors leading out of the colony. Attracted to the Roman noblewoman, Casha tries to persuade her to let him engulf himself in the flames of immortality. Instead of granting Casha immortality, Hitreea sends him to his death. She then decides to destroy the entire colony in a love-struck rage, killing both herself and Tanna in the process, and lifting the spell she placed on The Nomad.
