Name: Marek
Outter Appearance: A man in his late twenties to early thirties, Marek wears a leather vest and pants, and carries a sword with him most of the time. He is quite muscular and bearded as well.
Strengh and skills: As the King's one-time councilor, Marek is proficient at helping the king in making everyday decisions, he has quite the diplomatic tongue and while outside of those duties, he is well equipped with a sword which is as sharp as his tongue.
Character: Outwardly he may seem a man of integrity and law, but in reality, Marek is anything but that. He is amoral and straight to the point when his facades fail to work and he would do anything to become the ruler of Galea, even if it means killing the current ruler or marrying the ruler's daughter to take advantage of such loopholes.
Bio: Born in the kingdom of Galea, Marek spent the majority of his youth pursuing politics and swordplay, which both became more than just his hobbies in the future. Though he showed potential in these areas, his elder brother Zemar was already in line to be King Tobias' future councilor. Marek of course, didn' approve of such an arrangement, and demanded his father, Sir Calen to make him have that privilege, since Zemar's talents are far to weak compared to Marek's own.
Taking matter into his own hands, Marek wrote up a letter which stated that a local kingdom friend of his was lost in the bear infested forest. Zemar immediatly believed the letter's contents, and rushed to save the friend in question, only to be ambushed my Marek himself. After a terse conversation, both siblings fought, with Marek emerging as the victor. He slashed Zemar violently to the point where his brother died, and then also happened to see a ferocious bear moving towards them. Marek seized this opportunity to also kill the bear and arrange the excuse that he tried to save himself and Zemar by killing the bear who "attacked" them. The people believed him, save for Calen. He gave Marek the benefit of the doubt for that time being, sensing that something was wrong with his younger son's words. As soon as he discovered his plot, he was killed by Marek who arranged a servant to poison his tea. The servant of course was caught by Marek himself who feigned in accidentally running into the scene when Calen was poisoned. The servant vehemently claimed that Marek set him up, but no one listened and he was arranged to be decapitated.
Following these discreet murders, Marek continued to be drunk with power & corruption. He planned to become king himself in any way possible, even when being the king's chief councillor wasn't enough for him. His attention soon shifted to the king's beautiful daughter named Kahlan, and he decided to marry her in order to be king, but of course it won't be for love. For when they are wed, Marek would slit her throat and the king's too when the time is right.
During Kahlan's 18th birthday, Marek suggested that if al the suitors are not good enough for his princess, Tobias should arrange a marriage between him and the princess as an ultimatum. King Tobias of course rejected his idea. Outraged, he insulted the king and renounced his councilor position. He stormed out of the castle, never to be seen again..... until one fateful night.
Marek never really intended to leave Galea, because it was his plan to let the king's guard down. After several years of training, he decided to make a surprise comeback and slew the king when he least expected it. Leaving as quickly as he had appeared, Kahlan was next on his assassination list. He would have killed her, had she not come to her father's chambers and seen the horrifying sight of the king's dead & bloodied body.
Disgusted that his prey had left soon, Marek sent his loyal soliders after her. He demanded that they will not return until Kahlan's head has been shown to him, otherwise he would kill them all easily as he had killed King Tobias.
Little did he know that Kahlan's adventure outside of Galea would lead her to meet certain allies, alies that may as well contribute to Marek's eventual comeuppance. Despite this, he is not to be underestimated, because of his minions in high and covert places, and his swordplay skills have very much grown stronger over the years.
