I've had a little idea about a fanfiction story though i can't really word the bracelet idea I'm thinking of doing. I've written a little summary, a bit sketchy but I think it covers the basics, it's like this...
Basically the bracelets are made in pairs and are given to a good soul and a bad soul. Now here's where my brain has a little freeze up: the bad soul bracelet connects to the good soul bracelet and it affects the bad soul with good hence Bryn will be good as long as Sinbad will be good. Then Scratch comes in and interferes and ends up reversing the bracelets affects somehow, making Sinbad bad and the crew has to work hard at getting the bracelet off Bryn's wrist otherwise she will become evil. Evil powerful sorceresses aren't fun to deal with, especially as someone as powerful as Bryn. Somehow I'll work Dim Dim into the story and Doubar and Mala are playing major parts, Maeve though will play a minor part.

The bracelet idea is what I'm mostly having trouble with

As for the bracelet thing... hum, do I get it right that in this case Bryn originally was bad, but since she was given a bracelet that's connected to Sinbad's, she turned good or better to say: it helped the good inside of her win, right?
Well then - just as you said - you can simply assume that Scratch found a way to reverse this effect - i.e. instead of letting the good part affect the bad one, the bad one would affect the good one. But since he cannot totally alter what the bracelets are there for, this is a process and as stronger as the small bad side of Sinbad (after all everbody has some darkness inside of them - even if it's just a tiny little cloud) becomes, the stronger does Bryn's rather powerful bad side become. OR you could have Scratch focus on Sinbad completely. He might be able to lure him into a trap and plant the seed of darkness inside of him. And as this one affects the captain, the bracelet would lose its fuction - hence Bryn turns bad again. Although... nha, there's a problem about that version ... and in general I just notice. If we say that Bryn only stays good because the bracelet's the one that keeps her on that side, then taking it off would have the same effect as the connection to now dark Sinbad. Only trick to solve this one would be that the guys and Bryn realize that taking it off and fighting the dark inside on her on her own is the only chance they got for if she keeps the bracelet that now connects her to the dark side (uh, sounds a little StarWars-ish, right? xD ) she will in any case turn evil whereas when she takes it off, there's chance she will be strong enough to fight her own ghosts. This version is bit of a challenge as it needs some in-character-depth but it holds great potential as well if you ask me.
OR: Third version that just pops up in my mind: They try and take off the bracelet while Bryn slowly feels her dark side becoming stronger with every minute that Sinbad is evil but somehow they don't really succeed in taking it off. So the only thing that's left for Bryn to do is to fight her inner demons and become the good side of the angle. That one would work specifically well with the Scratch-focuses-on-Sinbad version ... and could make for some nice S/B shippiness if you intended that way. Otherwise it'd make for some great friendship.

And agrees, if you take the bracelet off Bryn to stop the evil influence from Sinbad, it wouldn't do much since she was 'evil' to start with.
It would be a good in-depth fic to see how Bryn fights off her evil demons to stay in the light to help the crew help Sinbad.

It starts with Sinbad dreaming about a great storm where he lost Maeve and gains Bryn.

As the nightmare continues, unknown to him his bracelt begins to glow powerfully: IE, it fiils the whole cabin with light and starts to bleed through the openings in the door and window.

Rongar, who is on duty and Bryn, who is in her room, see and feel the magic and rush to Sinbad's chambers. Along the way they wake up Doubar and Firouz and Dermott.

When they get there, Doubar breaks down the door as the door won't open.

But, they can't get in.

Bryn reveals that the bracelet's power is holding them back.

Firouz theorizes that Bryn should be able to get in then.

She shakes her head no, as the magic is much to powerful for her to push through even with the bracelet's help.

Inside Sinbad's dream, he sees himself jump in after Maeve and trying to find her.

While his dream self is fighting to find Maeve, he is watching Maeve and saw how a light green bubble surrounded her and took her away long before his dream-self reached her.

Sinbad realized it was DimDim and begins to wonder why he is dreaming about this.

(His bracelet isn't glowing in the dream nor as he is watching this, so he doesn't understand that bracelet's magic is causing the dreams.)

As the bubble containing Maeve floats away, he finds himself pulled along for the ride as it were.

Now he finds himself on an island where magic is all around: magical creatures, magical people, and magical tools are everywhere.

DimDim and Maeve talk and DimDim reveals that the times on board the Nomad would be detrimental to Maeve's very important develomental period in her magical training.

DimDim, not Turok, caused the storm to bring Maeve to him so she could finish her training.

(Sinbad, is feeling horrible and mad and guilty, ect...for he believes it is his fault that Maeve was removed; not knowing that it was simply that Scratch, Turok, and Rumina were causing so much pain and heartach all over the world that it would harm Maeve's sensitive magical senses.)

He watched as DimDim explained, if she had been exposed to such evils during this important point, it would have caused her to be more darkly gray than light gray.

Maeve, relunctantly accepts this, as she knew Master DimDim knew best.

Sinbad watches as the year progresses and Maeve got stronger and stronger.

He felt great pride in her and fell in love with her all over again because as the year progressed, Maeve's stubborn personality softened a bit as she learned patience and humbleness. She learned how to interact better with people without being so abrupt, and she let her love of animals and children come forth.

Sinbad learned about her family and how Rumina destroyed her village. He learned who Dermott was, Maeve's younger brothers by five years, he even learned about Bryn and how she was Turok's 'good-daughter' even though she was more gray since she had her mother and father influencing her during her more curcial point in magical development.

When Maeve's training is over, the dream starts to fade with DimDim looking directly and Sinbad and saying, "Now all we must do is wait for Sinbad to find you, dear one."

Maeve, who had at first blamed Sinbad, the angered at him for his man-wh*ring ways, then acceptance for what was happening to him, and then understood and loved him all the mpre for finding his way through the darkness, nodded and looked in thy above her.

Unknowingly looking directly in Sinbad's eyes and wished, "I hope it's soon Master. I miss him and the others very much."

Sinbad's bracelets is slowly losing power as the dream comes to a close and Bryn, Doubar, and the others rush into the room to try to wake him up.

Bryn reached for his hand, when Sinbad's bracelet stopped glowing all together and Sinbad awoke with a smile.

The smile grew confused as Sinbad saw the others.

They told him what had happened and he does too.

Sinbad is now determinded to find Maeve and DimDim.

This is the end of this fic idea. I imagined it to be a bit more in-depth than this simple outline, but this outline does pretty muchc tell the story in its entirty, doesn't it?

The sequal could be of Sinbad finding Maeve and DimDim, what do you think?

If anyone is interested, they could take the idea and write it. I wouldn't mind since I'm not sue I'd get around to it.

OK, well I need some feedback on this description. Basically this description is about markings/tattoo that Maeve gets when she performs a spell in order to enhance her powers. The markings are just a sign that she is blessed. Bryn also gets some but right now I'm working on Maeve's description. There are the paragraphs for both of them. Tell me if it makes sense.

Maeve looked down at her back. She shifted her red curls over her shoulder so she could get a good view of her back. Delicate swirls of lace-like sapphire tattoos stretched from her neck, down her shoulder and covered her back. The markings on her body looked ancient, even mysterious, as they were interspersed with letter like symbols.

Now Bryn's...

Bryn closed her eyes, afraid of the the power she felt that swelled in her. Bryn felt the power that Maeve must have felt before. "Bryn look," muttered Maeve. Bryn slowly opened her eyes. On her upper arm she had a sapphire crescent moon neatly tattooed on the middle of her upper arm, and from it, swirls of lines that reminded her of ocean waves extended down to her wrist. The markings reminded of her that of a warrior's, a mark of wildness...as if it belonged to ancients times when the world was bigger...more barbaric. Deep inside her the blood of her mother's people rejoiced.

Thoughts? I'm a bit "iffy" on both descriptions.

Ooooh, those sound interesting. Cannot wait to see the story behind them.

Anyhow. As you wanted to have feedback... But before I go off voicing out my thoughts please let me tell you that I'm a bit stressed because of the exams I have so please, if anything should come across as cold or anything, bear with me. It is not intended to be so.

First off: it does make sense. I can clearly picture Bryn's markings, and admittedly a bit less easily also Maeve's. And the sapphire colour you chose them to have is something I like a lot. Reminds me a bit of the story "roses by moonlight" where Sinbad and Bryn got a faint blue marking after having met a magical being. I always liked that image, and I do like yours. Now, why I said, I would picture Maeve's tatoos a bit less easily... it might simply be due to the fact that a moon with lines like waves is a bit better to imagine than lines with symbols in between... which does NOT mean though that this is bad. In no way. It leaves it a bit to the reader to imagine what those symbols could look like but that's okay I think.
Only thing I would advice you to alter a bit is the following: in Maeve's description you used the word "back" three times in a row:

I'm just pointing that out to you now, because such things always tend to sound repetetive when actually reading them... but as I know from experience (and believe me - this happens a lot to me x) a writer themself does not always notice such things at first sight since they have the mental images in mind and thus the words become less important somehow. But for a reader things like that tend to be more striking, hence why I mention it. Well, asides from that little tidbit: really, I think the description to be good. And am sure the story you're developing there is great.

I just re-read them, and have to notice that my first impression did not leave me: Out of those two I have to admit you described Bryn's marking better. Not for reasons of describing per se (you did equally good with both ) but more because you gave her lines a meaning. The thing with the blood of her mother's poeple adds further depth to a marking that already is totally interesting itself. And moreoever it makes the reader (or me that is ;D ) wonder about those poeple and what this means for the brunette. But well, as these are just some short shots, I guess you shouldn't take this impression of mine all too seriously because I am sure that as your story develops, both markings will get heir meaning and story. So, just take these lines I just added as nothing but what they are: the mere impression I got while reading the two shots.

I liked both descriptions, but like Doubar said Bryn's were easier to imagine as we don't have any knowledge of what these letters on Maeve's back look like nor how they are interspersed with the blue lace on hers.

Also, I liked the fact that you made Bryn's remind her of her mother's people. Something to that affect with Maeve would be an inpact on the reader too.

It made me think of the moon and how it affect the tides of the sea and oceans.

Also, it made me think of the anceint Woad/Druids in England. Their ancient warriors used a blue plant turned paint that theu then used to make eeire swirls and fiery designs on their bodies during war, magical rituals, ect.....which is a good thing since Maeve is Irish/native Albionian(england) and Bryn's mother, Bri, is more than likely (to me because of the name) from the same country.
