The sea. How he hated it. He was a master of fire, hell and damnation, not the soothing currents of the water. He likes to turn the sea from peaceful to stormy at times, just to destroy any ships that may carry any good souls. But now he couldn't do any of this, because he was trapped fathoms below.
His name is Scratch, a demon who conquered all of the west and is dying to rule all of the east. His goal was cut short, since DimDim used his magic to seal him in an earthly prison. Scratch of course, escaped after his run in with Sinbad and his crew members, and didn't let Sinbad and Doubar get away with humiliating him that easily. He came across Skull Mountain to form an alliance with the sorceress Rumina, but that was short lived when Dermott delivered the Griffin's Egg to the fortress. Scratch escaped, leaving a bitter Rumina and partially reanimated Turok to taste defeat in the crumbling mountain.
Scratch then bided his time, and observed Sinbad changing from a noble level-headed young man to a rough and tough womanizing jerk. It was too good for Scratch to witness, and when the time came, he offered Sinbad a chance to be his champion. Sinbad of course refused, and with the help of his late-mother Mala, Scratch was defeated and banished to the bottom of the ocean.
Shackled and trapped in a coral jail for days, Scratch hated the water more than ever. He tried to use his fiery magic to get free, but the oceanic barriers prevented him from escaping. What was worse is that he had to put up with a Seaclops demon which was also imprisoned, along with other lesser sea creatures which were either dead or alive in this wide but limited space.
The Seaclops is muscular in appearance, ash-skinned and one eyed, and on his head was a dorsal fin which looked like he had combed his hair like a mohawk. He had claws for hands and tentacle appendages below. Whatever reason the beast was imprisoned in here, it was most likely for the good of the ocean.
"Curse that saintly hag. And Sinbad! He's getting to be quite the slippery eel. And I should'nt even bother talking to you worthless bottom dwellers! You all got what came to you in this damn prison, but one of these days, I'll get outta here!" Scratch begrudgingly took a bite off the seaweed, while his Seaclops prisonmate munched on a lesser octopus. Scratch somewhat also envied the monster who ate the seafood with pleasure, and as much he tried to adapt to liking the local food, he missed devouring the flames and sacrificial meat back in his domain.
One fine night, his chance to escape came. A group of mermen guards came on their monthly check to make sure that the Seaclops remained imprisoned. They were in-fact, Poseidon's guards, and Scratch sensed their arrival moments ago.
"Guess they're doing the daily check on you, eh? Play along while I do this." Scratch suggested to the Seaclops, who vaguely nodded.
His arms and legs may be shackled, but some of his powers were still intact. Using that to his advantage, Scratch transformed into an old helpless merman, who starts to cry out for help towards the incoming mermen.
"Hello! Anyone there? Please, save me from this horrible thing!" pleaded Scratch to the merguards as they drew closer. "Help me before it eats me!"
"What? How did you get in? I thought we made this place impenetrable." the first guard asked, looking puzzled at the supposed prisoner of the sea-monster.
"Please, get me out of this place! I want to live! Free me!" the faux old man shed tears relentlessly. "I'm afraid I might not have much time left here."
The other guard was too much of a gullible, and rushed straight to the gate which was held tightly shut. He was about to take out his key, but his level-headed fellow guardsman stopped him.
"Did you even think that how did he get in here with the damned Seaclops? What if it's a trick by the monster?" the first guard urged his guardmate.
"No way, one-eye's too dumb to pull a decoy like that. And look at that poor merman, he's gonna get killed by the monster if he stays there any longer." he reassured the skeptical merman.
Scratch's ruse began to work its way around further, since the Seaclops was about to charge and strangle the "old merman."
"We better free him now!" the guard recklessly inserted the key to the keyhole slot, and proceeded to then enter the prison.
"No! Don't act hasty!" the level-headed guard shouted, but it was too late. The other merman proceed to unshackle the old merman, who then proceeded to strangle him.
"Ggh, why are you doing this....?" he ruefully asked, while struggling when the merman prisoner turned back into Scratch.
"Hahahahaha, thank you, you're very kind. And you there!" his horned head turned to where the level-headed guard was looking mortified at the mistake his partner made.
"If you value your friend's life, free the Seaclops too!" Scratch warned and pointed at the struggling monster too.
"Never in Poseidon's name!" shouted the merman and proceeded to swim towards the devil and slash him with his sword. Scratch let go of the foolish guard, and then proceeded to flick his finger towards the confrontational merman. He began to burst into bubbles, and explode in flames, no thanks to Scratch.
"You want to be next?" the demi-goat turned to the other merman who was creeping away in fright during what just happened.
"N...no! I'll do anything if you won't kill me!" he pleaded.
"Fine. Then release that sea-of. He may be of some use to me in the future." Scratch sneered.
The merguard sighed and proceeded to swim to the chained Seaclops, and released him from his watery bonds. The monster screamed out in happiness, and grabbed a hold of the merman.
"What are you doing? Aaaaah!"
The seaclops grabbed the merman and threw him off a distance. He landed on the ground with a thud, and slowly swam up, wounded by the collision and mistake he did.
"Very good. Now let's get back to our Hell House!" Scratch cried out in joy, and dissapeared with the Seaclops in a fiery light.
"Oh Poseidon, what have I done?" the merguard sadly mused to himself while staring at the blank, bone-populated prison.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Scratch materialized in his cobwebbed throne which was out of brimstone, and he felt the familiar atmosphere of his damnation-themed home. It felt much better than the oceanic surroundings for sure.
"Soon Sinbad, I'll get even with you, and this time, your friends and mommy dearest won't be there to save you." he sinisterly thought to himself, and laughed like a madman after drinking from his smoking goblet. And as for the Seaclops, it was stationed in a pool which also housed some of Scratch's dangerous of sea-creatures. He planned to use Poseidon's monstrous nemesis against the Nomad crew one day, but this nefarious plot will have to wait for another time and another day.
"One day I will get you, sea-dog, and then we'll see who's the last one laughing, aahhahahahahaha!"
Within days and weeks, Scratch began to plan out Sinbad's demise, but he was too indecisive on which plan to plot out first, in fear that the best one will be wasted first. His brainstorming warped into boredom, and he just couldn't think of a warm-up plan to get back at Sinbad. And while that sorceress Rumina was still around, Scratch still needed to check up on her to see if she got better at using his magic pendant.
