And the hawk is amazing Doubar!!!I remember holding one of those once, when I was a little girl...very heavy bird...and big...twice the size of my head...
This random picture thread is pretty cool!!!

Actually, Dermott and Eva are buzzards as I learned there. To be more precise dessert-buzzards (if that should not be true then don't blame me but the falconer ). The show always called Derm a hawk (in the German version they even changed that into falcon *g*). Guess "buzzard" simply didn't sound as cool as "hawk". ;D

Desert buzzard! The one I had on my hand was one, too. It was on a convention and I´m not sure if they had that one for tv and such. But his name was Sancho if I remember correctly

Sancho. Cute. Btw: a note on imdb says that our beloved Dermott had in reality been a female called "Mia". Does anyone know if that's true? P.S.: @sinbad: what kind of convention if I might ask?

That´s weird. Don´t the credits usually say "Dermott as himself"? Lord of the Rings convention.

Yeah, that's just what I was thinking. But hey, if they even made him/her become a "hawk", then maybe they tricked us there too. And about the convention: Should have known. But why have they been there with the buzzard? Because of the eagles or simply as a general attraction?

Something VERY random, but I had to share some goodies from my favourite cartoonist with you. ;D It´s German so I´ll give you the translations below. (Transparency) Anonymous alcoholics and one fluite player meeting Guy: "Hello, my name is Dieter and I..." Salesman: I don´t want to be too direct, but brown looked better on you. And also, trading the skythe for that poodle doesn´t seem too great an idea either I think. Death: Don´t you say anything against the Poodle of Death! Santa: "It has those nice Santa Claus colours, it has a cute little Santa in the middle, so what´s the problem with my new logo anyways?" Reindeer: "You have a full beard."

But why have they been there with the buzzard? Because of the eagles or simply as a general attraction? Hm... I wouldn´t know. Good question. I don´t know. It was more a general fun idea as in: "Take a picture with the pretty birdy". Which turned into "ZOMG, sacred falconer glove!" since it had been worn by Craig Parker

And those cartoons are pretty funny. Again, what was the artists name? I know I've already scanned some of his books in our Thalia-store but can't really remember right now ...

RuminaAgain. Welcome back sister mine @doubar Eva's photo is amazing. She looks so wild and elegant. In my hometown there's a medioeval castle and and last year it hosted an event dedicated to hawks and other birds of prey. I went to see them (of course), and they were even more fascinating than in photos or when I see them in the sky. Dangerous and scary, but beautiful. Also in the italian dubbing Dermott is called an hawk. Perhaps the authors had been inspired by the movie ladyhawke, which was very famous at the time If I remember correctly, there were two birds who played Dermott. Dermott (himself) and Mia. But I can't recall were I've read this now. @sinbad The comics are hilarious ;D ;D ;D

Cool. Didn't know that before. But would make sense if two birds had been acting the show. After all a day at set can be pretty long and you can't expect one little buzzard to keep being concentrated all day.
