"Well, let's just say, I attract nasty little girls who desire to cause misdeeds in this world. It's in my line of duty. Just as -you- love to come every once in a while to pull on my horns!" Scratch spitefully "baah-ed" at Mala after his remark.
"Now cough up, or else I'm really going to bring in the torture cavalry." the devil took another sip from his smoking goblet and looked sharply at Mala, hoping that the woman would cease to observe, and get right to the point.

Mala’s eyes narrowed at the words the devil spoke to her. “Cause misdeed in the world?”, she stated somewhat indignantly, letting only the slightest snort mix with her voice as she did so and ignoring stubbornly the torturing part of his speech at the same time. “That is what you call hunting for a soul?”

"They both tie in nicely, m'dear." Scratch responded lazily, and took another sip from his smoking goblet, then belched out rudely.
"But I'm afraid I hadn't done anything to torture Sinbad" Scratch claimed not-so-innocently. "Yet. If souls are to be hunted, I would rather......" his furrowed look slowly turned into a pleased one.
"Oho... ohoho! This is quite brilliant, thank YOU Mala, for giving me the resolve again! It was getting boring while sitting around on my ass all day!" Scratch exclaimed like a kid who got paid for doing an excruciatingly boring chore. He teleported from his throne and materialized a few feet off behind Mala.
"Worst of luck finding Sinbad's harrasser, hahahahahaha!" Scratch maliciously sneered and disappeared off in flames to wherever the dark winds would take him to. Only he knew what to do with Sinbad, even if a different entity is out there to badger the Nomad Crew.

Mala listened to the demon with an unmasked uneasiness. Her shoulders were tensed while her gaze was following each of Scratch's movements. The bored tone in his voice startled her for a moment, letting her wonder whether he maybe really had nothing to do with what she had felt in the depths of the sea. His trace of magic had been there for sure, but it seemed that the devil had not planned on chasing her son's soul ... not till now. The sudden change in the goat man's voice let her head snap slightly upwards and her eyes widen at the same time. His words intruded her mind and she felt her heart beat faster in chest. He thanked her. Thanked her for bringing him on exactly that way again, she had wanted to make sure he wasn't following. She shouldn't have come here. Swiftly she spun around as she felt Scratch's presence move from his throne to right behind her. Her blue eyes were staring at him, telling him more than she had ever wanted to and betraying the guilt that swept over her in exactly the same moment. She had brought the devil into game again. Mala wanted to say something, hinder him leaving and fulfilling his plan, but even before she got to open her mouth the devil was gone. She could feel his hellish aura move through space, knew she could follow him if she dared to. But she didn't. His magical trace got more distant with every moment she stood there, and all too soon it was too faint to be tracked. But something had changed she noticed. Mala's brows furrowed as she felt something new arise: together with that unnkown trace she had felt earlier there now was a second might - one she knew all too well. "Scratch." It was a silent whisper that had left her mouth and which held the answer to what she felt inside.
Closing her eyes for a moment, Mala sight heavily at what just had happened. Maybe things would have been different if she hadn't come here - she ruefully thought - maybe fate would have taken another way. But the young woman knew well enough that one couldn't change the past. If it was her fault or not didn't matter anymore. Things had happened and it wouldn't do any good to linger here in this hellish world. Here she could do nothing for those she cared about.
Mala took a deep breath as she concentrated on the soft murmor of distant waves. She had to find out who these magicians were; had to make sure Scratch wouldn't accomplish whatever he seeked to do. She had come back to this world to to fulfill a promise. And she would. And with a last silent sigh, she left this place ...
