Name:
Sinbad
Outer appearance:
Whith his brown hair and blue eyes and being relatively tall, he matches the looks that many people would describe as handsome. As a young captain he used to keep his hair half long and his face well shaven, a habit which he has partly gone back to very recently after realising he had changed a lot from the man he was in earlier years, not only physically. He usually wears boots, pants and white sailor shirts, sometimes he falls back into wearing his old, red bandana, but this has become less frequent from when he was younger. Sinbad also always carries a saber without a scabbard on his belt
Strengths and skills:
Sinbad is extremely agile and an excellent swordsman. He knows a lot about sailing and the sea and knows well how to navigate a ship since he has been a sailor since age 12 and a captain since age 15.
Character:
Sinbad is someone who knows how to have fun and who enjoys a verbal banter, but his outset on life has become somewhat more gloomy ever since Maeve involuntarily left the crew. His experiences have made him harder than he once was. He usually is a kind person one can get along well with, but he can appear hard if things do not go according to plan of when he is under pressure or in dangerous situations.
Sinbad tends to care a lot for others, not only those close to him, but also those who are in need. When he sets himself a goal he goes through with it and can be stubborn with it, but he usually manages to keep control of the situation. Sinbad can be a real charmer if he wants to and he can be a bit cocky and come across as proud or arrogant sometimes, but usually only in situations where he is in a teasing mood. He is no person to admit his feelings easily and sometimes acts more self confident than he is. He does have his soft spots and everyone knows, but he does not usually freely admit them.
However, he has recently felt lost. He noticed there has been a change with him in the last year, making him less the bubbly, boyish guy he was and turning him more into a tougher, more reasonable but also far more reckless person. He has realised that this was taking him the wrong way. Whereas he avoided killing by all means possible as a younger man, the loss of Maeve has made him more inconsiderate in this way, a more fierce fighter than he was. Still, the motifs behind that are not evil. He may have a slight affinity to lean to the dark side, his soul is not free of corruption, but this holds for nearly everyone. For Sinbad, this affinity is rooted in his caring attitude: he would give his life and more to rescue those close to him and therefore he has started to lose track of himself. Getting back to who he was after realising will not be easy for him.
Bio:
Sinbad grew up an orphan and was raised by his older brother Doubar who became a sort of father figure for him. His parents had died early, so he had to find ways to cope with life at a very early age. The two brothers were taken in by an old sorcerer by the name of Dim Dim who told the boys everything that he thought was necessary.
Sinbad did not plan to become a sailor, however when his best friend and first love, Lee, was washed into the sea and died in an accident, he swore to become the master of the seven seas.
He became a sailor when he was only 12 years old, he became a captain at age 15. After sailing the oceans for quite some years, and gaining quite some wealth as a merchant and sailor, he got lost at sea for two years. At this time, he got into a storm and woke up on an unknown shore with a rainbow bracelet of unknown origin on his wrist.
Returning to Baghdad on his own, he started to gather a crew once more to save Princess Adena who had been kidnapped by the dark wizard Turok and his daughter Rumina. He met his brother Doubar again and made new friends. Manning the Nomad, they sailed off. On their way to save the princess, Sinbad met his old friend and master, Dim Dim. Him and his apprentice, Maeve, joined the crew and Sinbad, even though he never openly admitted it, fell for her at first sight. Together, the crew found Turok and Rumina´s lair, freed the princess and Sinbad beheaded Turok before they sailed off for new adventures. Ever since, Sinbad and his crew have been followed by Rumina, but Sinbad has never given in to her charms and threats.
On their journeys, Sinbad grew closer to Maeve, but never to a point where he would openly admit his feelings for her even though his behaviour around her was obvious. When she was washed off the Nomad in a storm, he started to look for her and met Bryn who became a member of the crew. He never developed feelings beyond friendship for her and kept searching for and missing Maeve, even though master Dim Dim let him know she was safe for now. Missing her, his grief about her loss made him a harder man who now was on an endless journey to find her and master Dim Dim. He kissed many women on his journeys, mostly to try and forget his pain, but it never worked.
