Hey I am just curious about how magic works in AoS. I was thinking about the Little Miss Magic episode the other day and i was wondering about how Serendib was a 'natural talent' as Maeve put it, does that mean Bryn in also a natural talent? Because Bryn has seemed to inherit her magical abilities and Maeve mentioned that she had to be trained to tap into magic abilities.

@thea: yeah Bryn's abilities are natural! According to Naha, her mother was a white sorceress and her father was turok who was descended from a family of sorceress.she got her magic from both of them That what Tetsu said about her in the return of the ronin Tetsu: No. She’s a meekle. A medium. She has magic, and its part of her. The power flows through her like our blood flows through our hearts. And that what Maeve said about sorcery and natural magic Maeve: No. No, I had to be trained. And I’m still learning. Serendib, she has a natural talent. So yes serendib is like Bryn. Both posses natural magic

*nods to what Bryn has said* Aya, would understand it the same way. Even though there is still one part left to be sorted out: if magic can be trained then it would mean that everyone can get a hold of it. But in fact I rather think it's like this: Natural or not, you have to have the magic within you. But there are different ways of this: Those who hold magic but do not have access to it unless they are trained in doing so (like Maeve who descended from normal poeple); and those who hold magic and can use it naturally like Bryn and Serendib. Both have access to their powers without having to be trained - the only training they need is to control their abilities. Or at least this is how I see it. What do you guys think? Oh, and the maybe most interesting part of this ep: Sinbad was able to use magic, too. So what does that tell us about the captain?

If we get it according to the show we will see that yes there are two ways of magic. The one you can learn and the other that live inside you.and the ability to accept it and hold it matter. And that what sometimes make sorcery different from witchcraft. In real life, No one has magic within oneself as a natural talent. Magic was taught, spells were made up and being transfer vocally from priest to another to teach them how to use it in ancient times. But as a natural talent i think there is no human posses it.
