She made a puzzled face. "Not exactly, but we can talk for hours. I did not notice that I had been talking to Dermott all night."

Doubar felt he was still staring at the young one and decided to lean back a bit in order to avoid any discomfort between them. To him it seemed that she was talking about a natural thing - one that happened in a way that made her never even think about the fact that it could be elsewise as well. And understanding that maybe she, herself, did not know just why she was able to talk with the hawk, Doubar decided to ask no further. The ways of magic were unknown to him anyways and if he was being honest, he did not even want to get to know them any better than he already did. But the knowledge that the hawk indeed did think made him be curious nonetheless and finally that curiosity got the better of him. "And, ah, what is it you two have you been talking about?", he asked, taking up his last jerky, while he did so.

She looked at him a little surprised by the question. But she shouldn't be, because she partly expected it. "Oh, just some things about Maeve and Rumina."

Doubar felt his eyes go wide at the mentioning of those two names. He hadn’t heard either of the two spoken out loud for quite a while now - the one because none onboard had dared to mention her when Sinbad was around; the other because, he guessed, the crew had simply forgotten about her in a way. Hearing them now, however, was a little strange and for a moment the first mate felt awkward, seeing the young one using them as freely as maybe everyone on deck should have.
Shifting a little on his place, he met the brunette's gaze again. “Rumina”, he half snorted absent-mindedly, “it’s been long since we last had to deal with her. And the Lass ..." Doubar let a silent sigh escape his throat and lowered his head a little. In his mind memories were forming - remembering him of times that had long been gone. "It's strange how times change." It was a quiet mumble that left his mouth to linger between him and the sorceress for a while - one that, if one only listened good enough, bore just the slightest trace of sadness.

Bryn looked at him strangely. "Oh, how so, if I may ask?"

Her curious remark made Doubar look up again. He studied the sorceress' face for a moment, pondering on whether to tell her what was going through his mind or rather say something else instead. Deciding then that it would be no use to abandon himself to those thoughts that for a single glimpse of time had taken a hold of him, he smiled warmly at Bryn and shook his head slightly. "Uh, never mind, Bryn. Just some things I think you already figured out." He finally answered, hinting at the conversation the sorceress had obviously had with Sinbad the pevious day therewith. Then, knowing the sorceress would probably want to know more but deciding to ignore that at least for now, he took a sip of his water, looking expectantly at her after he had finished that. "And featherbrain really told you about them? What did he say ...", he asked her, then thought about it and added rather awkwardly: "...err think"

She eyed Doubar then chuckled. She decided to push her question aside, favoring to discuss her little chat with Dermott instead. “Oh, not much. I asked about Maeve’s past, but he would not budge. He kept repeating that Rumina is the very bad person.” She rubbed her forehead. “He said that Rumina was obsessed with Sinbad.” She chuckled at the thought. But then her laughter died, and she looked Doubar in the eyes. Her forehead became wrinkled. “And Dermott said the Maeve had raised him ever since he was a kid.”

At her answer Doubar couldn't help but chuckle silently. So the birdy is just as secretive as his mistress is, he felt a thought enter his mind before he concentrated on the brunette's words again. "And Dermott said the Maeve had raised him ever since he was a kid." The first mate weighed his head at that. "Well, yeah", he stated smilingly, not really noticing the frown that lay on the sorceress' face as he did so, "he's always been around her. I have to admit we never really asked her about the way she got him, but she always said that he's been with her his entire life." Absent-mindedly he took another sip of water before shrugging to the young one. "Suppose she got him when he's still been very young. Fell out of the nest maybe. She always had a soft spot for animals, ya know"

At this, Bryn laughed. "Yeah right, Dermott fell out of the nest and broke his wing." She chuckled. "But really. I never knew she had a soft spot for animals. We should buy her a puppy."

A puppy. Doubar laughed at that thought. "Yeah, and name him Sinbad", he snorted playfully at the brunette, enjoying his own joke to the full extent. "But honestly", he soon after continued, "you should have seen her handle horses. Sometimes one could have sworn she was able to talk to them... ."

"A puppy named Sinbad." This really made her laugh. "Now we will have two Sinbads." She imitated Maeve. "Come here, Sinbad." Then she changed her voice to match Sinbad's. "Are you talking to me or the dog? Maybe we should get her a horse instead."

Sinbad hadn´t eaten anything since … well, since long enough to have his crew worried, had they known, but slowly his stomach was instinsting on some food, so he had decided to go and grab one under deck before he started to bring the Nomad into the port. He liked doing that himself even though there were several people who were capable of it probably. Captain´s pride one might say. Now there was still time to get something and get back up after a moment.
Making his way down towards the galley, he could hear voices that he identified as Bryn and Doubar. He didn´t really pay attention to what they were saying, obviously something funny, because he was trailing after his own thoughts, not expecting anyone in the galley even though this thought was unlogical in the early morning. Therefore, he didn´t get the connection to what they had just been talking about and, when pushing the door open, just overheard something that seemed to concern himself. “Dogs? Horses?” he asked, stepping in, raising an eyebrow. Had Bryn been imitating him? Did he sound like that? “We´re a trading vessel, guys, not an arch.”

When Doubar noticed his little brother enter, he instantly turned around to face him. Seeing the puzzled look on his face and knowing perfectly well what the two of them had been joking about, he felt a beaming smile spread on his face. "Uh, but I'm sure you would love little Sinbad", he answered cryptically, winking at Bryn at the same time.

At this, Bryn burst into laughter. "Little Sinbad. Great idea."

Sinbad narrowed his eyes slightly, the way he always looked when he thought people were up to something and was slightly pouty or sceptical he was not involved. He opened his mouth, then closed it again, instead walking over to where there was still some of the bread. Little Sinbad? He thought. That couldn´t be anything good, not with the way his crew was behaving since yesterday, tip toeing around mentioning the past all of a sudden.
“Is this… about something I don´t know but should?” he asked, confused, an inner voice telling him that he should curse himself for his curiosity. They were probably up to some joke at his expense what with them talking about Maeve these days and all. ´Little Sinbad´ didn´t connect to a puppy in his mind at all.
