They book it directly off my bank account. Amzon has my account number, so they are authorised to get the money I owe them whenever I purchase something. Credit cards are not that common here. Business people have one, but usually people don´t have credit cards here. I can pay with my bank account cards though e.g. when I buy groceries or stuff in shops. I just know 1 or 2 people that actually havea credit card.

@sinbad: That is not how it is here. Everyone I know has a credit card. *smirks* No wonder why the U.S. savings rate is usually negative or less than 1%. Those stupid Americans who just bought like crazy on credit even though they did not have enough money in the bank caused this credit crisis.

Yeah,I heard nearly everyone in the States has a credit card. When I went on holidays last year a credit card institute had a stall at the airport and the clerk there made me and my best friend an offer for young people, no extra fees for a year and stuff. I filled in the application and a few weeks later got a letter that my request for a credit card was denied. Apparently, trainees do not earn enough money. *shrugs*

Derm: She´s a charcter from a really awful vampire flick that was on TV a week or so ago and that Doubar and I only watched because Zen was in it. *throws in some more illustration*

Totally. ;D This movie was so awful, I felt like I had to do something we have a pretty great word for in German, called "Fremdschämen". It means as much as "to feel emarassed in someone elses stead" ;D

Ashamed?

Not quite. Feeling ashamed is usually about yourself. "Fremdschämen" is feelng ashamed for someone else even though you are not involved. As in you feel embarassed for something you needn´t be embarassed for because it´s not about you.

@sinbad: Aye! Totally agree with you. Those are movies you feel so emberassed for although you didn't take part. ;D

@sinbad: Disappointed? As in like you are disappointed about someone.
You can also say you are ashamed of another.

No, no. It´s difficult to describe. Imagine the following situation: Something stupid happens and you feel embarassed because it´s so embarassing and stupid. "Fremdschämen" is when you for example watch someone on TV do something completely embarassing or stupid and that causes you to feel embarassed in that person´s stead. You don´t have a reason to feel embarassed because you didn´t do anything embarassing, but someone else did. But still you feel embarassed, which means what you do is "Fremdschämen". There is no translation for it, if you go word by word it would be somthing like "Alien-embarassment" as in "being embarassed for something someone else does"

That is ashamed or disappointed. Like Lebron James was disappointed that his team could not give him the ball or play harder. Or my mother was ashamed of me, because I played hide-and-seek in the mall when I was 2 years old.
