Being sceptical is part of my job Nah, just kidding. There´s just that inner bug in me that demands stories to follow some sort of logic.

It is "skeptical," not "sceptical." *hits Sinbad on the head*

"skeptical" is the weird American English spelling. "sceptical" is British English.

@sinbad: Or it is simply some weird German attitute to always search for the logic in something. xD @sinbad and Firouz: Well, asides from the "being-thrown-into-the-story" there's a big difference between Cast away and the plot there I think: as far as I remember cast away Helen had really fallen in love with the other (correct me if I'm wrong) whereas Sinbad had pretty soon realized (think chapter 1 said it) that it wasn't really love he felt towards Bryn but something else. And this is where it get's strange I think. I can understand when someone doesn't wait their whole life for someone without knowing if the other will ever come back - but I can't understand them denying what they know if the loved one is back and they keenly are aware that they love none but them (errr, does this sentence still make sense? x). So, yeah, I would go with Sinbad saying that if maybe the way how he came to the conclusion to send Maeve away had been described or if he had had deeper feelings for Bryn than just guilt then it would have been understandable. Anyways. Just like Sinbad already said: this doesn't mean it's a bad story. It's really well-written I think and I like it.

Yeah, it makes sense. Well, I always thought of it like a later chapter. The beginning was missing. But I imagined a beginning with Sinbad proposing his love to Bryn. Later on, he discovered, as stated in the story, that he did not love Bryn. Then Maeve came back. If he told Bryn that he did not love her, even though he said that he did years earlier, it would break her heart, maybe ruin their friendship, but most of all hurt Bryn's feeling in that he lied to her and possibly abused her. Sinbad was always a rather foolish man, or boy as Maeve would say.

@all, true on all accounts. I probably wouldn't have minded so much if the story hadn't have made Sinbad pining away for Maeve still. And Doubar's point was good too, he didn't respond to Bryn's kiss.
It must be that men/women different thought processes that make this such an odd story to discuss. Not that the discussion isn't a good one, but it does hit the emotions and I know for a fact that's what the author wanted. We had talked about it for a while, if I remember right.
She wanted to show that Sinbad, while he's the good guy, has to live in a bad situation (heart wise) because he IS the good, loyal, honorable, man.
Maeve and Sinbad hadn't proclaimed anything verbally...but the promise WAS there.
Bryn and Sinbad had, and now he was stuck to his promise.

Hey guys!! I found a few of my OLD stories that I had written when I was like 13. I've decided to update them and make them better so be on the look out on FF.Net. I also have a slightly new one up that is connected to my King Arthur story The Union of Avalon and Briton. You don't have to read the KA ones, but they do offer a bit of background for the AOS one. Right now, it's still in its infancy, but the first chapter is up. I'll be posting the older ones within a few days I think...
