Name: Elizabeth Longstride
Age: 24
Height: 5’5
*Nickname*: Lizzy
Outer appearance
With a pair of captivating green eyes, Elizabeth is an average-height young woman with long wavy brown hair framing her gentle and expressive freckled features. She wears a pair of practical brown woolen trousers slightly bunched up at the hem of her black boots, and a comfortable off-white, mid-sleeved shirt cinched at her waist by a forest-green leather belt. She also travels with a brown backpack.
Character
Curious, funny and spirited, Elizabeth is trouble and wonder all in one person. Resourceful and knowledgeable in many different domains, she’s simply full of surprises, for better or for worse. She is kind, generous and instinctively puts other people’s needs above her own. She is also loyal and devoted and she never begins something she doesn’t intend to finish. Always seeing the glass half-full, she looks at the world through a veil of optimism and it takes a lot to wipe the good-natured smile off her face. If you’re looking for a back to count on, an ear who will listen or a shoulder to cry on, Elizabeth is the person to come to. But if lies and hypocrisy taint your soul, don’t even bother looking her way because she holds no mercy for malice and treachery. Her main weaknesses are her stubbornness and her sometimes boundless care-freeness, and although she has near to infinite patience, she has little tolerance. Also, in Elizabeth’s case, passion tends to rule out reason more often than not.
Biography
Elizabeth grew up in the crown city of Amberdale in the far away land of Denwood. Daughter of Adrien Longstride, the commander of the King’s army, and Marian Winslet, the head-director of the royal library, she spent her whole life whether surrounded by soldiers who would teach her everything there is to know about all forms of combat and military tactics, whether with her nose stuck in books to learn about gazillion subjects such as history, politics, languages, medicine, botany, and much more. As the years went by, she began working at the Amberdale’s orphanage to take care of the children but quickly, her humanitarian work expanded to see to the well-being of any person in need, let it be the poor, the sick, the homeless, etc. However, merely two years after having found a job as a relief worker, Elizabeth’s life changed forever. A plague swept upon the land, hitting every city and village with deadly speed. More than half the population of the land of Denwood succumbed to the lethal illness, stealing the lives of the King and Queen in the process and leaving Elizabeth with hundreds of grieving and panicked citizens to take care of at work. Amberdale crumbled to ruins in a matter of weeks, with pyres of corpses at every corner of every street. Denwood became the land of the dead. The evil clutches of the plague eventually took the life of Elizabeth’s father, and shortly after, it took her mother’s, too. On her deathbed, the latter’s words to her loving daughter were “Run, Lizzy. Run as far as you can and never look back.” As the illness hadn’t, by some miracle, gotten to her yet, and with nothing but ruins holding her back in Amberdale, Elizabeth listened to her mother’s last words before it was too late. She ran.
Traveling from places to places, heading wherever the road would take her, by foot or by sea, she offered her services to any who would have need of her in return for some food and money. Hence, on her destination-less journey, she worked on a ship as a sailor, in a tavern as a waitress and a cook, on a ranch as a drover, in a forge as a black-smith; she was a school teacher, a physician’s assistant, a librarian, a woods guide, and many more things, until eventually, her aimless wanderings across the lands and seas led her to the teeming city of Basra, where her life was about to change again…
Skills
A hard worker and a fast-learner, Elizabeth can do pretty much everything and anything she is taught. Because of her years of study back in Amberdale and her years of travel while running away from the city, she has learned to do a lot of various and diversified things. She speaks many languages and although she knows how to use many different weapons to defend herself, she only fights when she has no other choice.
