With a Gasp, Khei sat up in the bed griping wildly at the gaping wound she was sure was there. She pulled back her hands but to her surprise there was no blood.
Hands..
She had normal hands again!
Panting, she looked herself over. She was human again. Her bracers were in tact and sitting there, on her wrists, right where they belonged.
She wiped the sweat from her brow and pulled herself out of the bed. She was surprised again that the bed was intact and not shredded to pieces as she remembered it. It was as if it had all been a dream.
That was far too real to be a dream.. wasn't it?
Suddenly she remembered seeing Thea on the floor, unmoving.
In a panic she threw open the door and ran straight for Thea's room. She didn't even bother to knock before bursting through the door and screaming.
"THEA?!"

Thea woke up, startled at hearing her name.
Khei was in her room, flustered, and looking quite alarmed.
"Khei, are--"
She gasped in shock. Her memories flooded her mind with painful clarity. Her back was not broken, her skull seemed fine, and she was alive.
She recalled her last moments before losing consciousness. Khei had been surrounded. And here she was fine. And with her bracers, as she recognised Khei's human appearance.
Had Thea drank too much ale again, because otherwise she feared she was going crazy.
She ripped off her sheets, ran to Khei, wrapping her arms around the woman in a fierce hug. "Please tell me you experienced that too? Or else I'm crazy!" she said in a rush. She squeezed Khei tighter to her, in fear this was the dream and the other place was reality. "Please tell me I'm not crazy."

Khei visibly relaxed after seeing that Thea was not dead or even so much as hurt but was, in fact, alright as well. She eagerly returned the hug and nodded. At her mention of the events that now appeared to have been nothing but a simple dream but had been all too real, her own memories flooded back to the surface. She couldn't remember ever having had a dream that was so very real.
"So.. It's not just me? I was terrified you were dead. You experienced it too? With the men in the stable? I thought, perhaps, I was going mad myself.."
A new wave of dread flushed through her body.
"Then.. That was a shared dream? That's.. almost unheard of.. Outside of Dreamwa.."
She cut herself off, eyes narrowing.
"I'm willing to bet it had something to do with that menace of a man.."

Thea released Khei, her eyes widening. "Ashven!?"
She guessed she shouldn't be surprised. Ever since he walked--more like sauntering into their lives, trouble was never far behind.
"It was all so real...The pain..."
She crossed her arms. "Was it all just some twisted thrill for him? What was the purpose of all that?" she asked, her voice rising.

Khei nodded.
"I know I can dreamwalk but even I can't manipulate a dream to such an extent. Let alone cause a shared dream. He's the only other person who could be capable of such a thing. When you think about it we really don't even know just what he's capable of."
She glared toward the hallway.
"Perhaps we should check on him and ask a few questions.."

Thea smirked. She entertained herself with the idea of giving him a good punch.
They headed down the hallway.
"That scumbag will pay for this," she said.
She doubted though they could get one up on Ashven, he always seemed five steps ahead. Scum he was, but he was also smart.
They approached his door. Thea pounded on Ashven's door with her fist. "Ashven! Open up or we'll break the door down" she said. "You've got some serious explaining to do, you rat!"

The door swung open with a small creak at the first instance of contact. Evidently the door hadn't been closed completely.
There, in the center of the room, sitting cross legged on the bed, was a form that roughly resembled the form of a man. The form was ghostly in appearance. While Ashven's face could clearly be seen you could still see the floor and the rest of the room behind him through the image of his face.. almost as if he was there yet not. His hands rested upon his knees and his eyes remained closed, Seemingly oblivious to the presents of the two women.
A cloudy, other worldly, violet and blue colored mist seemed to dance and twist around his form, the shapes of different people and animals shifting, forming, and dissolving throughout the mist surrounding him. As these different shapes formed and seemingly passed through his ghostly form, his face and body would also shift, if only momentarily, to match the misty form.
At various times he'd look like a bear, wolf, bird, and at one point even a dragon like form. Even a tail made of mist would form behind him before disappearing into the cloudy mass swirling about.
On closer inspection the one constant is that the scar on Ashven's forehead seems to glow and pulse with feint amethyst color while the wounds from the night before seem to be mending and healing over without so much as a mark left behind.
Suddenly the mist stops moving and just hovers for a few quiet moments before rushing inward and slamming into Ashven's body. His body seems to jerk and spasm momentarily before condensing back into what would be considered "Normal".
Wounds fully healed again the scar dims and Ashven's eyes slowly open, blinking at the two ladies. His usual smirk settles onto his face as he inhales deeply.
"Good morning Ladies."

Rendered speechless, Thea stared wide-eyed at Ashven. She let out a shaky breath, unsure of how to reply to even such a simple statement after what she had just seen. Her anger drained from her, only to leave her confounded and with quite a bit of awe.
She blinked a couple of time before she could manage to speak. "W-What did you do...?" Whether it referred to the inflicted dream or the sight she had just witnessed, Thea wasn't sure of anything any more.

Khei too, stared in disbelief. She simply stood there, just behind Thea, with a blank expression on her face, her head cocked to one side ever so slightly.
She started to open her mouth to speak but her voice wouldn't come. She tried a few more times with the same result. In the end she just seemed to be impersonating a fish.
By the time she finally shook off the shock and started to finally speak, Thea had beat her to the question leaving her to do little more than nod and glare at the man.

Ashven chuckled lightly at the sight of the women gawking at him in such a fashion and waved a hand dismissively as he stepped forward a few paces. Though he was carrying himself in his usual overly confident style his gait had the slightest stagger to it, almost as if he were drunk.
"That? Pshaw. That was nothing. I was merely healing my wounds."

"What on Earth are you talking about?" Thea swallowed. "You have got some serious explaining to do, you mongrel." It was meant to come out threatening, but Thea's emotions shined through, letting her come off as sounding as a nervous child.

Ashven put a hand to his chest in a gesture of mock hurt, his smirk never leaving his face. In fact, if anything, his expression portrayed a dangerous mood.
"Me? Whatever do you mean?"
His tone was nothing less than condescending.

Thea thought it was like he played with them like his own personal game in only which he knew the rules. Thea didn't know whether to be angry or frightened. More the latter.
She recalled when she first met him. He was cocky, but had a cool charm about him. She thought herself superior in the aspect of her ability to judge people well. She was wrong. It was clear Ashven was superior in the art of manipulation.
Why was it so hard to hold his menacing gaze? It was him, quite simply put. Thea knew when there was a potential threat, and Ashven definitely was one. Thea thought that he reminded her slightly of when she found about the truth about Khei, not with his menace, she was far from that, but the potential danger of one's hidden nature.
"The dream...It was horrible. What sort of magic are you playing at?" Thea knew of magic, but it was uncommon to find it among the Britons, and she had little experience dealing with the magical sort other than Khei. "Why are you doing this to us?"

"Making a point my dear. You see. You humans often share the same opinions. Should you happen upon a creature or being who is not like yourself you wish to kill it or exploit it. I am.. Nggghh!!"
Ashven's legs suddenly buckle, dropping him to his knees as he grasps at his head and cries out in pain. The scar on his forehead glows fiercely as the skin seems to suddenly rip open and starts to bleed profusely.
"GRAAARRRHHHGGGG!!!! The bastard knows! He knows the ritual! how?! How did he know?!"
Holding himself up with one arm he points at Thea and Khei, his smirk completely gone. The look on his bloodstreaked face being one of not just menace but of raging anger. The mist began forming around his body once again. This time, however, the color darkened to resemble a cloud of smoke and ash.
"You two! Don't go running off. We will finish this conversation when I return. And I AARRRRGGGHHH!!!"
Mid sentence, he suddenly throws back his head and torso, screaming in agony as the mist swirles around his form almost like a tornado. It swirles tighter and tighter around his form before exploding out. When it disperses Ashven is nowhere to be found. The only trace of his presence that remains is a pool of blood and a single bloody handprint on the floor.

Khei was shocked to say the least. All she could do was stare at the place where Ashven had been only seconds before.
The air lacked the menace from before.. even his scent was fading quickly, replaced only by the smell of drying blood.
She shook her head and looked at Thea expectantly.
"What just happened?"
