If they could hold their speed and course, they would arrive in Bazra before noon the next morning Sinbad mused as he stood at the tiller, gazing out at the silent nightly sea. It was his night shift and there was double as many watchmen out as usually. What Bryn had told him about Dermott´s vision did not directly scare him, but he knew well enough to keep out a watchful eye.
But still, the night had something pleasantly peaceful to it and the captain just let his thoughts drift into nicer and calmer directions than the ones they had been straying to earlier that day.

Bryn headed onto deck. She was surprised how late it already was. ‘Was it down will Firouz that long,’ she thought. She then looked at her captain who was at the tiller. ‘Well, here goes nothing.’ She let out a deep sigh before joining her captain. “Beautiful night,” she said to him in a cheerful tone.

After the earlier chat he had had first with Bryn, then with his brother, and briefly with Firouz, it somehow had become easier to let go of the things that troubled him. There was a lot he still had to sort out for himself, he knew, but for now he had come to a point where he could step back and consider things from a little distance - watch them drift away not because he was ignoring them and pushing matters away, but because he had looked at them before, admittingly more than he usually did.
When Bryn adressed him however, he felt a slight tinge of bad consciousness. Her tone made him suggest she held no grudge against him - or if she did, she did her best in hiding it, but whatever way it was, the captain was glad she did not avoid him. "It is, indeed." he gave back with a smile that looked more relaxed than the slightly edgy smirk of a cornered cat she had gotten earlier when he had felt like being in a verbal trap. "almost too nice to sleep it away."

Bryn looked at him with questioning eyes. "Oh, and why is that?"

His lips curved into a somewhat boyish smirk. Another one of the old typical expressions that had once been so typical and were recently showing more often again. "No particular reason really." he said before he tore his gaze away from the skies and looked at the brunette. "it just gets your head free again." he added after a moment.

She looked at him slightly surprised but also curious of his answer. But she eventually smiled and chuckled a little. She noticed that smirk on his face. "Oh really. And what's that smirk on your face." She played with him, lightly tapping her elbow on his side.

Sinbad gave a little shrug, the smirk not fading. There was not even really a reason for it, it was just an expression of the fact that after that conversation earlier even though the matter was far from solved at least tonight he felt his soul to be a lot lighter. "Nothing really." he said, truthfully. "Just feeling relaxed." The addition ´more relaxed that before, less dense and less thoughtful than before´ was not uttered, but clearly hung in the air between them.

The smile on her face widened. She was happy that her captain felt happy and sort of relieved of what was bothering him before. She stood next to her captain and looked out to the sea. "So how long will we reach port?"

"If we can keep the speed and direction, we should be there around noon." Sinbad said, with a nod of his head. "If there is something going on there, we might see it from the ship already. I doubled the guards for tonight." It was important to him that she knew that he appreciated her warning and took it serious.

Her smile slightly faded. "Good." A thought popped into her mind. A thought popped into her head, recalling her chats with Dermott, and she chuckled. It was not a very nice thing to say, but she couldn't help herself. "I guess you are not as dumb of a beast as featherbrain calls you."

An eyebrow rose at her words. Not only was this an untypically blunt thing for someone like Bryn to say, but also did he not hear those words for the first time. She only could have gotten than from Dermott, Sinbad concluded and silently wondered what the two of them had been chatting about and what Dermott had shared. In particularly what he had shared about Maeve who had used that insult on him sometimes.
"Dumb beast?" he asked, somewhat taken aback by her bluntness but still slightly grinning because of the overall context - a grin he would not have responded with a few hours previously. He did not know whether this was another attempt of hers to dig out information about Maeve but for now did not treat it as such. "I think now I´ll change tomorrow´s dinner plans to chicken."

Bryn looked at him surprised. Her eyes had opened wide, and she had raised her eyebrows. She gave off an expression like 'your not serious.' "Why? You plan to cook Dermott?"

Sinbad had to bite back a laugh. She couldn´t possibly take him serious on that or could she? But then again, she didn´t know many of those typical old time puns. "Well," he said, faking a scowl. "he´s been insulting the captain obviously."

She jolted her head back in an ‘oh really’ expression. But she kind-of chuckled at the good-humor of the conversation. She could tell Sinbad was joking. He hadn’t joked much while she was on board. However, she actually liked the humor Sinbad was giving her. She decided to play along. “He’s only a bird. Well, a bird who can talk, at least to me. And besides, he is part of this crew. You can't just cook him because he insulted you.”

Now he really had to chuckle and for a moment he meant to reply something to that to keep it up, but then Sinbad noticed there was something else in what Bryn had just said that captured his interest. "Well, he doesn´t talk to me." he said. "How do you talk to him?" The question was asked out of interest even though he had a theory of there being magic involved.
