Thank you so much for such a wonderfully warm welcome, Doubar! I'm sure I'm going to have lots of fun here; this forum looks great. ^^ P.S. Of course! ;D I found out about Distant Lands through a Youtube vid. I'm not even sure how I came across it, but I was just randomly browsing through Youtube -- I think maybe looking for AoS vids -- and came across one by... I think Floflo? About Maeve and Sinbad and Bryn; I think it was called "Who's That Girl?" or something like that. Anyhow, I happened to watch another by Flo about Kriss and Kahlan, noted it mentioned that they were characters in an rpg, thought the vid was awesome and thought, 'Whatever rpg that is, I WANT IN!' LOL So I searched around and found Distant Lands, and here I am now. And very happy! ;D My rping humans might be a bit rusty; I've been roleplaying horses mostly for the last year or so, but I am certainly looking forward to getting a character and starting in rping. ;D Though it shall have to wait until later; family day out today! Going to the beach and making a sand sculpture.

Wheee, so a big hurray to Kal (Floflo is playing the characters Caipra and Kahlan here )! ;D That's just great that eventually you found us. Though we have an official promo-vid, too. www.youtube.com/watch?v=6-ClBYsv2DMAnd a second, more recent one. www.youtube.com/watch?v=YJ1FsXR7XKUOooh, and so you're an experienced rp-er? That's cool. Most of us have been newbies to this - only some had rp-ed before becoming a member of DL. And horses you say? Aww, that's nice. Hey, just a random thought... you could be someone who's dealing with them here, too. But, hehe, we can brainstorm on everything all together later. For now I wish you a great day! Family day out sounds great! And sand sculptures? Whoa! How cool is that! Well, it's all thanx to Nili and the board's great members. *toasts to everyone*

Hey there and welcome aboard. Thank'ee ^^ Aw, sand scultures sounds great. *wishes she had a beach that was closer by than 400 or so km* We tried to make a sand sculpture, at any rate. Unfortunately, the tide came in before we were even half finished (we were late getting out there) so.... we didn't get any pictures. But we did get our clothes soaked, gave up on staying dry and went swimming in our dresses xD That was fun. The worst thing about a skirt when a wave is coming in is that the fabric catches it and knocks you off your feet! Or maybe that's the best thing about 'em ;D haha And floflo is here, too, playing Caipra and Kahlan. Yay! ^^ Oh yay! Official promo-vids! -saves them to favorites to watch when there is time- Thanks for the links! Oooh, and so you're an experienced rp-er? That's cool. Most of us have been newbies to this - only some had rp-ed before becoming a member of DL. And horses you say? Aww, that's nice. Hey, just a random thought... you could be someone who's dealing with them here, too. But, hehe, we can brainstorm on everything all together later. Yup, I'm an old hand at this rp business xD haha Seriously, I have been doing rp in one form or another for at least 7 years or so. I love writing, so years ago when I found out about this kind of "writing", I loved it. I'm terribly bad at procrastination or starting something and not finishing, but writing with other folks really keeps me going. If I were to ever write a novel to be published, I think I would have to have a collaborator. xD A friend of mine and I have written together for quite a few years -- more than 5, at least -- but unfortunately, she started college last year and it's devoured up all her time. So I've been looking to fill that void until she is done of college. First horses, now peoples! ;D Yup, horses. It's an awesome, intermediate/advanced wild equine roleplay called Wild Equines. I joined it initially afraid I would kill it (for a long time before that, it seemed like I would join a forum not of my own making (and I only ever have had one) and it would die shortly thereafter. Fortunately, WE did not die! Which I'm very glad of. And I certainly hope it "broke the curse" (lol) 'cause I certainly don't want DL to die! And your idea is a neat one! I've got a few characters/ideas in my head, but I guess I'll have to get to the plotting board for that, eh? ^^ For now I wish you a great day! Family day out sounds great! And sand sculptures? Whoa! How cool is that! It was great; family/staff appreciation (we run a family business, so that's what we call it as a joke ;D) is always much fun. ! I finally got to eat my lobster for the year (funny that my grandmother talks about them being poor man's food and anyone with *lobster* in their lunch can was looked down on, but now it's so incredibly expensive that it's a once a year splurge....). Sculpturing was fun.... but the sculpture didn't last long. xD Well, it's all thanx to Nili and the board's great members. *toasts to everyone* Indeed! A fantastic forum is always made of fantastically dedicated staff and wonderful, friendly members. Just from what I've seen so far, I'm sure this forum has both! Aya! Huge Welcome to new mamber! And Aya for toast! Thank'ee for the welcome! Hello hello! Welcome aboard Indi! Thank you! As the others already told you, I'm floflo, the one who made the vids. I'm glad to hear that you found us thanks to this (especially with a 2k's vid! (2k = Kriss and Kahlan. ) Indeed ^^ I'm glad to have found DL too! Especially through such an excellently made vid! Hope you'll spend a good time here! Thank you; I'm sure I shall! ;D

The worst thing about a skirt when a wave is coming in is that the fabric catches it and knocks you off your feet! Or maybe that's the best thing about 'em ;D haha But you know what? That sounds like a lot of fun! ;D Really, it's way cool to have a beach that close to your home. If I want to take a swim in the sea, I have to take a 5 hrs ride by car first. But, say, might I ask what sculpture you had planned to create (sorry, I'm a curious cat )? Anytime. And do watch them some time. They are great! *bows to Flo and Kriss* Ahaha, I know what that's like. xD I have a story waiting to be finished and which I started, like, three years ago? Lately I always ended up writing one-shots because they at least get finished in a short time. ;D But 7 yrs... whoa, that's cool! Aw, that's a pity. But, well, it's kinda good luck for us if I might say so. You mean that one? www.wildequinesversion2.proboards.com/index.cgiLooks like a rather big forum - or at least bigger than DL. And, heh, I think you need not worry there. DL might be a relatively young forum but I think you won't bring bad luck. Yeah, would be a good idea to post them in the plotting area. Aww, that sounds nice. And so you work all together there? Cool. As for lobster... really? It's been a poor man's food? Didn't know that. Aww, that's a kind thing to say.

But, say, might I ask what sculpture you had planned to create (sorry, I'm a curious cat )? Oh indeed, it was certainly a lot of fun! And yes, we are very fortunate to have beaches so close. I guess that's the great thing about living in the Maritimes! ;D Of course y'can ^^ We always do a Bible related sculpture -- for example, last year we did David and Goliath, the year before that was Jonah and the whale, and the year before that was Noah's ark -- so it was going to be something along those lines. We actually hadn't really known what we were gonna make! We'd had an idea last year, but unfortunately we did not write it done and could not remember it. lol So we attempted a sculpture of the 10 commandments, since we didn't have a whole lot of time and it was easier than anything else we could have done. I certainly shall! Maybe that's what I should try xD I have started something of a one-shot; it's sort of a short story based in the world of a series my friend and I have written (got 3 written and were working on the 4th before she started college!), but it's been slow going. I am almost done though! It was supposed to be for her birthday last winter... but it should be done for her birthday this year -crosses fingers- Yup ^^ It's fun reading back through old stuff to see how I've matured in writing style and such. Or look back at what I wrote and cringe... haha Yeah, it made me sad that she hasn't been able to write, but I am glad to have found you guys. That would be the one ^^ It is certainly a large forum, but it has been going for over 3 years now, so I guess it has an excuse haha I certainly hope not! ;D Indeed; and I have started a thread there, so now the plotting can commence! XD Yup; we all work at the B&B together. Sometimes it's fun, sometimes it isn't, but life is like that. Summer can get awfully long, but at least the winter is pretty quiet. I've heard of places where tourism is year round and I just don't think we could handle that ;D

A pity though that you didn't remember the idea you had last year. But, well, you had fun anyways and that's what counts I think. *crosses fingers, too* Well, good luck then on finally finishing it! And you and your friend developed an own series? Or did you "just" write a series of fics for a fandom? Oh, tell me about it. ;D When I go through the stuff I have written years ago I cannot help but shake my head smilingly at my own work. xD Well, we, too, are glad you found us. It's always nice to welcome a new member. And three years you say? Cool. DL's gonna have its 2nd anniversary in December. Oh, I'm pretty sure all will be fine. Whoot, whoot. Myeah, everything's got its good and its bad sites. I could imagine sometimes it's hard to work together while on other days it's just great. In any case I can imagine that it's a lot of work during summer.

Aye, we were rather disappointed to have forgotten, but the fun that we had anyhow certainly made up for it! We may try to do another sculpture tomorrow, as we'll probably be going out to the beach, along with the young man who is courting my sister ^^ Thanks! I'll need all the luck I can get! xD While we have done a few stories in the Lord of the Rings, Star Wars, and Redwall fandoms, most of what we have written has been original/of our own creation. Glad I'm not the only one! lol Awesome! Is there gonna be anything special done for DL's 2nd anniversary? ;D lol Precisely And often enough, it isn't so much friction with the family, but stress from some of the guests. As much as it can be interesting meeting new people, there are always at least a few very obnoxious travellers... And of course, there is always the aspect of how much work it is, particularly during the hottest parts of the summer The anticipation, also, of tourism season is often made worse when people start talking about their plans for summer vacation xD

I like using Elvish in conversation. ;D I haven't had a chance to read the Silmarillion or any of the Histories, but I'd like to someday!
