Well, I don´t see any reason to censor a piece of soundtrack. Unless it is anti democratic which I highly doubt. The only stuff we censor here is rightwing radical stuff and even there we need solid proof that it is right wing which it isn´t too often. Since you mention banning commercials: we do that here, too, but we are not as picky with it as Americans are I think the only commercials that are banned are those that surpass the limit of taste and those that put down other companies (e.g. Burger King vs. McDonald´s comemrcials). As for freedom of speech and other freedoms in the States: is that ridiculous Patriots Act still up and running?

Ridiculous Patriot Act? Yeah, security freaks. Did I tell you that at the Japanese Expo, the United States was the only country that required everybody to walk through a medal detector to enter its pavilion.
Talking about that, that reminded me, do you remember the US was thinking about changing "french fries" to "freedom fries."

I think you mentioned it or I heard it somewhere else, yes. Also, the Patriot Act is not just ridiculous, it´s also dangerous. Whenever I see a country cut down on basic rights, my alarm goes off. We´ve had that here and we are extremely careful about expanding the right of the state to dip into personal affairs. We´ve had huge discussions here about whether or not the security police or something should be given the allowance to tap on phones or e-mails for terror suspects. The party who supported that were severely criticized. Oh, totally. Oh the gems of the Bush administration

Gems of the Bush administration. *chuckles* Nice sarcasm.
I thing they were trying to make-up for what they could have easily prevented. First, taking box openers on a plane is unacceptable. Why do you need box openers on a plane? You don't get mail on a plane. Second, did you know that the US used to have air marshals on planes but cut it because they thought it was a waste of money. Well, here is your waist of money. Third, a group of terrorists tried to crash a jet liner into the eiffel tower ten years prior to September 11.

The thing about box openers and the like is common though. Even when I fly inside of the EU I am checked for stuff like that. I once flew to London with my two best friends and the metal detector went off when I walked through. It turned out that there was a piece of metal in one of my winter boots. One. Why not in both of them? I could see the personell getting suspiscious when the detector just beeped with one shoe.

Did you get arrested? Would love to see that picture.

No, I didn´t. I was told to give them my shoes so they could check them and they ran them through some extra scanner and saw it was just a piece of metal.

@sinbad: I just thought about it, was it a piece of a chewing gum wrapper? Metal detectors can pick up the aluminum from the wrapper.
@master Dim-Dim: I am sure they use a lot of metal detectors in Isreal. What is the security like there?

Nope. The metal was inside the shoe. Obviously, when the shoe was made, metal was put into one shoe, but not into the other, don´t ask me why.

*lol* I have no idea. I guess it was a mistake that was made when the shoe was made.
