Thea watched Khei with curiousity as she won over the horse. She got distracted when Razi let out an impatient snort. He was getting a bit agitated. He probably wanted to get moving. He had the impatience that rivalled Thea’s own when she went walking from place to place. “Calm down, and be good,” she chided. She patted his side, hoping it would soothe him. Thea adjusted her belt with her knife sheath as it was sitting in an awkward position.
Khei mounted the horse and she looked up when Khei asked her question. Her face turned to a mask of confusion at the question but then she smiled. She couldn’t help be amused at Khei’s question. Corame, who was watching from a nearby stall, had a perplexed expression on his face, which also then transformed into a grin. She guessed this was one of the many mysteries about Khei, not only new to Baghdad but new to horses as well. She also admired Khei’s choice of a horse.
“Just give it a kick to its side,” she replied. “And hold on. The harder you kick the faster it will go. I’ve made that mistake to many times with this one,” she said, referring to Razi. She gave him an affectionate stare then turned back to Khei and grinned. “Start off slow I think.”

Khei nodded as Thea guided her as to how to handle the horse. She rolled the directions over in her mind till she was relatively sure she understood what to do. She kicked her foot back, bumping the horse's belly but she wouldn't budge. She kicked back again, a bit harder this time but the horse paid her no heed. Getting flustered, she flaps the reins.
"Come on. Please just go."
SHe tries once more to kick back, this time at just the right angle but with too much pressure as the horse jerks her head to attention and takes off down the street, Khei hanging on for dear life. She wasn't sure what she just did but obviously she did it wrong..
"WHOOOOAAAAAAA!!"

Thea watched as Khei and her horse shot down the street. She watched after them in shock for a moment, too stunned to do anything. Razi’s snort bought her back to reality. Khei? Khei! She kicked Razi’s flank as hard as she could and galloped away from the stables. She held onto the reins tight and made a mad dash after Khei and her abductor.
“C’mon Razi!” She nearly pushed him to his limit. The blue roan was fast! She pushed Razi even further on, trying to catch up to Khei…

Khei's mind was in panic mode, frantically searching for any information that might be of even the slightest help. Clearly Kicking was only for making the horse go and for the longest time she had forgotten about the reins completely. She finally noticed she was still holding the reins and guessed that she was going to have to learn how to use them rather quickly.
Hanging onto the horn with her left hand she yanked on the reins with her right. The horse twisted hard to the right, down the next cross street, nearly knocking over a man walking down the street. Khei yelped a quick "Sorry" as they passed. She then pulled to the left on the reins, perhaps a little too much, as the horse spun completely around and dashed back up the street, passed the man, who was now waving his hand and yelling something at her as she passed by yet again though she couldn't make out what he was saying.
As she was looking back, trying to grasp what the man had been yelling, the problem of stopping the horse resolved itself as the horse realized the alleyway was a dead end and stopped itself, rather abruptly, throwing Khei off her back.
Khei squealed in shock but, somehow managed to land on her feet though she quickly flopped down onto the ground to catch her breath, still holding the reins.
"Okay Kick mean go, pull left to go left, pull right to go right... Now if i can just learn to get you to stop without running into a wall we'd be all set."

Thea lost Khei. First she had her eyes on her but now she was no where to be found, lost somewhere in the sea of people. She slowed Razi down to get a better view of the street. That was when she saw Khei and her horse darting up the street passed a much frazzled man. She followed Khei to the alleyway in haste. When she entered the alleyway and brought Razi to a halt, she saw Khei was off the horse.
Thea dismounted Razi. Her knees wobbled involuntary, overcome with fading vestiges of emotion and adrenaline, and she landed with a graceless thud. She ran to Khei side.
“Are you alright?”

Khei chuckled lightly and nodded, getting to her feet and dusting herself off once again.
"Yeah. I'm fine. She's a fast one."
She gave the mare a pat on the neck.
"At least I know how to get her going and how to turn left or right. I just need to work on stopping."

Thea laughed. She ran a hand through her tangled curls which had been whipped by the wind. She smiled lightly and wondered what to do. She wondered for a second if it was wise for Khei to continue to ride such a wild beauty but Khei was picking up the skills of horseback riding and Thea smiled to herself.
“Well, hopefully it is safe to continue.” She grinned. “I’d say we better head home and get some food and a good night’s rest.”

Khei nodded once more as she finished dusting herself off and patting the mare on her neck.
"I do believe you're right."
She smiled and managed to get back into the saddle, she gave the mare a pat on the withers before musing to the horse.
"Let's try this again, only at a slower pace. Okay?"

Thea looked to Khei then to the sky to get a good grip on time. The setting sun casted a fine-looking glow over Baghdad through the thick clouds.
Razi jerked forward, probably wanting to gallop again. She pulled the reins hard to curb his agitation. "Behave," she reprimanded.
She looked to Khei again.
"I hope you'll enjoy Baghdad, Khei. Sure it has a few unsavory characters"--she thought of the earlier bandits--"but its a really nice place. Ready to go?"

Khei nodded with a smile.
"I suppose there's always a few rotten apples no matter where you travel."
She worked at trying to nudge the mare rather than kicking as before, this time managing to give just enough pressure to start her walking, bringing her around to face away from the alleyway's dead end.
"Hey! Look at that. I think I've finally got the hang of this."
She was visibly proud of herself as she nodded.
"Yeah. Let's go."

Thea nodded. She kicked Razi’s flank. “Yahh!” she ordered, she hid her embarrassment at making such a strange sound but Razi always interpreted it as a order to go. Razi jerked forward and started to canter. “Home we go,” she said.

Nodding more to herself than anything, Khei gives the mare a gentle squeeze with her feet and followed Thea and Razi toward their home. She mused to herself along the way.
Today hasn't been half bad really..
