When she pulled away again and he could look into her eyes, the uneasyness was back - and it was stronger than before. He found his insides cringe at the sight of her looking like this, so broken, so sad. He wanted to comfort her, to make her feel better, but something told him that there wasn´t really much he could do about it, however much he wanted to. Just like they were separated in waking, there was a separation in dreaming, too. Something, her sadness, too remote for him to grasp, something she didn´t let him reach. She had always been good at keeping some part of her from him, and he could tell that she was doing that right now for reasons he couldn´t even begin to fathom. It made it hard to look into her eyes because whenever he looked at her, he became all the more painfully aware of her words. A dream...
"Yes." he said, his voice trailing off a bit, his eyes beginning to stray, but then something new came to his mind and he held on to it, a tiny speck of hope, the desperate attempt to rekindle hope in her with what little of it he had left. "But...why are we even here? Maybe this means something." He didn´t even know what it was supposed to mean, just that this was no usual dream. He knew next to nothing about magic, but he understood or at least hoped that this was how things were, that this was not happening as a mere coincidence.
