No offense, but Hollywood is usually wrong with facts, and the whole purpose is entertainment. Don't take it too seriously. Remember, spaceships don't fall, too.

This episode sounded wrong since the beginning. They portrayed the Druids as a bunch of evil wizards, but actually they didn't looked like the traditional Druids at all. In season 1 there was a clear way to conceive magic in AoS world. I think that in the Pilot Dim-Dim and Sinbad talked about how everything was connected to nature, and this assumption was kind of lost in seson two. What a pity! Moreover, they introduced Druids and at the same time Wiccans. And I've always found it kind of weird, since i think, (correct me if I'm wrong) that they are always been one and the same, being the Wicca a modern evolution of the old pagan religions, but still deeply connected with nature. And During Sinbad's times the Wicca didn't exist. Well, there's no need to complain, season II never made any sense at all...so Anyway, it's easy to find the wiccan principles into a lot of historical fantasy novels. Marion Zimmer Bradley was only one of these authors. When I watched AOS for the first time I thought instantly "Maeve's character looks as she is just come out from one of MZB's books" ;D ;D maeve3000I'm glad you like MZB too, do you read any other books other than "the mists"?

Your conversation is really interesting! I don't know anything about wicca! The only thing I'm sure about this episode is that it is not on the list of my favorite episodes! And...I can't stand the girl! ;D

maeve3000I've read everything about Darkover and Avalon. But I still miss Ravens ;D It's always nice to have one of her books left to read. And, you already know that Diana Paxston is going to publish soon "The sword of Avalon"? (what do you think, we should move the discussion into the fantasy fiction tread?)

Really? Jackie's a wicca? Well, I don't know anything about the wiccan religion. I always associated it with the image of the modern witch (potions and lotions and herbs and plants and stones and planets...the Charmed-like universe...correct me if I'm wrong...)Therefore, I don't know what are the deities they invoke or if they are monotheists or polytheists...I'm curious to know though! The only thing I know for sure is that a wicca is a pagan, but a pagan is not necessarily a wicca for there are many forms of paganism (chamanism, druidism, Egyptian cults, wicca...) Personally, I am a pagan, a Celtic one (I believe in a universal Goddess-Mother-Nature deity, a deity that can take many faces depending on what is invoked) and I've always been a very spiritual person compared to my friends who don't believe in anything and don't practice any religion. I never really discussed the matter with them because I know for sure they will judge me very critically and I simply can't stand that (they're rather narrow-minded if you ask me when it comes to religions). Wow, it feels really good to let my personal beliefs out! I guess I opened up to you guys 'cause you all sound like a lovely bunch of open-minds!

That's very interesting to know! So you're a celtic pagan? That's another friend to add to my other religions list! LOL ;D
One of my King Arthur fics deals with Avalon and Morganna and all the women therein, including the magic with spells and such, I'm not sure I even got close but I was mimicing from what I had learned from my friend and what I had learned from books I had bought.
