You guys do the right thing in not watching too much tv. Personally sometimes I use it as a backround noise just like Nili. But if there's some interesting tv-show or a movie I like to enjoy it ;D Ps. I've never heard of Gilligan's Island neither , ^.^

Especially since TV program these days mostly sucks. If I remember correctly Gilligan´s Island was about this guy, Gilligan, and some other characters both male and female who end up on some sort of deserted island. Kinda like Robinson Crusoe.

Right now on my TV: A horriblie monstrosity of a show called "Schwiegertochter gesucht" (Wanted: daughter-in-law) a.k.a. the show were extremely desperate singles in their late 20s to 50s (who always look at least 10 years older than they are) look for a relationship after the patter of: male bachelor gets letters and choses two women who live with him for a week (mostly said male bachelors still live at mommy´s)
Waaaah, why in the world am I even watching that?!
Quote: Guy, two women and guys mom are having breakfast. Guy: So... uh... what are your hobbies. Woman 1: Well, in my freetime I like ti write poems. And I uh... wrote poems for the people at the home for the aged I work at. Rest: ... Woman 1: For example once we went hiking and I wrote a poem for our trip. It was a poem about asparagus. And that was pretty cool.
...
And just before the commercial break they decided to go to harvest asparagus in a field later. How romantic. *watches with a mix of morbid fascination and repellance*

Some students told me once to watch Prison Break because I said I didn´t know it and therefore couldn´t settle the dispute between two girls who were arguing about which actor was hotter. ;D

Oh mein goth, that show reeks of "boring." -_- *referring to the SG show* *quotes Zangief from the horrible Street Fighter movie* Quick, change the channnel! And next thing you know, your students might start a Scrubs debate on which character's cooler

Scratch: SG? It´s bordering on absurd which almost makes it entertainment... Oh and once students know what shows and films you like they keep trying to get you into discussions about them. Which is the reason why I don´t talk about such things too much. It will be hard enough to hide my exhaustion after a weekend of fan-geeking after the 2nd to 4th. ;D

Funny enough, my profs at college (especially those teaching design and flash) reference a lot of tv-shows (like House), bands (like Nine Inch Nails) and games (like God of War), during class time. I even went to my program coordinator's office, and his corner was filled with action figures, dvds and the like. Made me exclaim "I'm in heaven" in my mind

Scratch: Well, Gilligan's Island is kind of like the old comedy. If you like general laughs than you might like it. It was not my favorite show, but one of the better old shows, and I enjoyed it. @sinbad: Oh, there are all too many of those nowadays. There is a channel called "Reality TV," that airs those shows 24 hours a day. @kriss and all: You know, watching too much TV can cause early Alzheimer's. Being if front of the computer is bad enough. The electromagnetic waves from the screen can interfere with brain functions. Extended exposure can kill brain cell. The larger the screen, the worse. When you watch TV though, make sure you sit rather far away (five or ten feet away) from the screen to minimize the electromagnetic exposure. Living close to high voltage power lines also harms you. Basically, any current causes an electromagnetic field. The stronger the current, the stronger and more deadly the field.
