Ya know, I didn't pay attention to this any earlier, but just why doesn't any of the crew notice that Doubar's falling behind when they search the woods for the warewolf? O.o I mean, he's got a huge flesh wound on his arm and looks rather feverish. With Firouz being a physician they must've thought of an infection as an possibility... so why didn't any one pay attention to him (asides of the obvious reason that he needed to get out of the house but get separated from the crew, too ).

Oh, you are stuck the details. Naha's vision of this episode was written that way and no arguments ;D ;D ;D ;D The best part of this epiosde is Sinbad who is like: Well, my bro is the warewolf. Too bad but I need to kill him. ;D

*chuckles* Alright, I won't question any further. The best part of this epiosde is Sinbad who is like: Well, my bro is the warewolf. Too bad but I need to kill him. ;D True that. xD

A great episode, together with Hell House the best from the second season. There was shown a strong connection between Doubar and Sinbad, there were presented some emotions among the crew. I did not expect the twist with the tranformation of Doubar into the werewolf. And I positively accepted the fact that the mayor of the city (Albetta I think) was not a bad guy in the end, he was decribed this way at the beginning of the episode.
I probably missed it, but in which part was mentioned that Omar fled before the creature? It really sounds very strangely for his character. I do not understand the reason for this, it was not probably the problem of money, when they were able to typecast him into another role a few episodes later.

Well, I must admit that this ep doesn't belong to my favourites. It's just too dark for my liking, and I've never been a huge fan of vampire and werewolf stories anyway, so I wasn't impressed much with this ep. The only good aspect of it is the emotional side of things. The brotherhood between Doubar and Sinbad and how it ended the curse without taking the first mate's life. Also, I really liked how Bryn was involved in a way that showed she really cared for the people she lived with. Right though for Albetta. And I also liked the healer a lot. He seemed really nice. As for Omar... I must admit I don't know. Did they really say he fled the town? O.o That is unlike him indeed. He faced the Bully - how are we to believe he was scared of this creature and left his poeple to die? Doesn't make sense at all.

It is written in the first post in this thread. It is a very weak explanation for his absence. it would be more dignified if he died in the fight with the creature, for example.
When I watched the second season for the first time I was not satisfied with the most of its episodes. I liked this episode and the episode The Castle Keep. I watched the second season again after a few years and my attitude has changed, I had different opinions to episodes, I liked more of them. And The Beast of Basra stayed my second favourite episode, after Hell House.

Ooh, you're right! O.o I had totally forgotten. But the conclusion stays the same anyway: it's a very lame excuse. Maybe even the worst they could have possibly come up with. But I agree with you about the second season. First time I watched it I didn't like any ep apart from Hell House, but now I have quite some eps that I enjoy and others were I think that they're not even half as bad as I remember them.

One thing which i never realized but it is very obvious in this episode.
It was said there that the human becomes werewolf only during the night with the full moon. But in this episode were four full moons in the row. It is the magic nature of this world or something else?
But i understand that would be bad for the crew to spend four months in Basra.

Haahaha!! You're right! I didn't really realize that either. But then again I don't exactly like that ep too much and thus only seldomly watch it so maybe that's an excuse? xP At any rate, hah, yeah, it seems they have super special 4days-full-moon in the AoS world. *snickers* Eeep. Would be kinda boring indeed. Also for us viewers. xD

And I am not sure why were the people in Basra at first unfriedly towards the crew. I have only one possible explanation for this, that the people felt that Kulu has a connection with the events in the city and the crew was with him.

Hum, yeah, that's a good question and something I never really understood, either. But maybe you're right. Maybe it was because they were with Kulu.

Or we can not simply have the episode without some fights.

It was even some episode where was not any fight with swords or fists? Maybe there were some, but i think that we can count them on the fingers of one hand.
