*falls off her chair laughing* You're so right! Sinbad's facial expression is priceless as Maeve takes no notice of him but just looks out for Alana. Lol! Great finding there, Fire. ;D

*bows* Oh, I do. I like the pic you chose: the serious and determined yet also slightly nervous look seems to be very fitting.

Oh gosh, I finally made my post. I really hope you guys like it though right now it seems to be totally off in a way. But I just can't write on anymore. I might add another paragraph to it later, mentioning how Mala sees Caipra leading Maeve to the bench, or adding that to my next post - I don't really know. @all: Help me out there, guys: do you think Mala knows Dermott? As you can see I wrote like she didn't know him, but later I realized that our general idea had been that Mala had watched the crew before Hell House so technically she must know him. On the other hand we didn't see much of Dermott in that ep anyway. I figured that if maybe he was off, scouting, whenever Mala was close to the ship she might not have noticed him. And the fact that she did perceive him this clearly now would be reasoned in his feelings and the situation at hand. However, if this does sound unreasonable to you, I may change it and make her recognize him. There would be just one problem about this: if Mala knows Dermott belongs to the crew, then she surely can draw the conclusion of her sons being there. I really cannot tell you why I feel she'd avoid the crew for now (heck, I hope I'll come up with a good reason in the future), but somehow I don't think she'd stay if she knew they were there. And second thing would be: hope you guys are okay with Mala perceiving feelings this strongly. I didn't plan on it at first, but now it does more and more seem like she can. I'd guess it's a slowly developing skill, something she'll have to learn to use and get used to. @dermott&Maeve: I hope it's okay for Mala to notice the bond between the two. If you don't like that idea just tell me and I'll delete that part. @dermott: If that's okay for you I'd like to also have Mala sense a little bit of Rumina's magic within the birdie. I'm not sure just when she will (it seems odd ot have her perceive everything at once), but I'd very much like her to notice at one point or the other. Because, it would make SO MUCH sense to have her notice it. I mean, I don't know whether you read Mala's chat with Scratch, but he told her of Rumina and Mala felt Rumina's trace ... only she has absolutely no idea who that Rumina is and where she could find her. Thus it would be most interesting for her if she recognized a bit of that woman's magic within Dermott (which would of course be the curse he's under) - and it would also be a reason for Mala to linger near the crew for bit. ;D But again, if you think this idea to be rubbish, then just tell me. @sinbad: Do tell me if you find it to be rubbish that I stated that Sinbad and Doubar share a similar bond like Maeve and Dermott do. Personally I think they do, but that's not alone mine to decide on. Caipra: Wonderful post.
IMPORTANT:I think it's time to tell you. Most likely I won't be able to come online from July 31st till Aug 22nd! I've been thinking already how to work around that should you start the crew-reunion till then, and I came to the conclusion that I'd leave you Doubar and maybe also Mala (though, depending on the pace of things she might not need to be added) to be played via the npc from any of you who's willing to do that. Unfortunately we'd need a very lame excuse to have Doubar not be around (going to the loo in such a situation sounds really stupid after all), so if you guys start till then you'll have to write him in. Well, just wanted to let you know that and feel free to share your idea with me as to how to solve that little problem.

A soul was coming; its presence suddenly echoing in the air around them. It was closing the distance swiftly, its movements being eager, anxious and driven by emotions that seemed to radiate all from the owner's heart. Mala frowned deeply at how this trace stood out between all the others, frowned at how it could catch her attention even if she didn't seem to recognize it. The ghost's eyes focused on the skies. Her heart told her that this was where it was coming from, her senses told her about its nature. There was so much of a human's soul shining in its core, so much of a soft and slumbering magic hiding in its depths. And yet she knew she had to lift her sight. Because it was not only a human heart she was perceiving, not only the heart of a creature blind to her magic, but one of a being that was connected to this world in more ways than men could ever be. This soul shared the bond that united all living things - the bond that she felt slowly reastablishing as the effects of the ripple were quickly wearing off now. And the more the elements calmed down again, the stronger did she perceive that presence, the better did she see who it belonged to. And then the owner suddenly was there, and it was only now that she realized she had not been the only one staring up to the skies. As a beautiful brown hawk dashed towards the redhead Mala still stood close to, the Roman finally saw the emotions play across the other woman's face. And they suddenly hit her with full force - mixing up with the bird's one as they seemed to melt into one another - mirroring and reflecting what both beings felt deep within. Suddenly Mala felt like she was standing inmidst a busy crowd, her head was spinning slightly from the magic that surrounded her, and more from all what radiated from the others' hearts. She had to step back a little and draw in air deliberately, as she willed her senses to cope with the intensity of what they received. And then, slowly, the flood ebbed away. As if there was come exchange between the human and the creature, both their souls grew calmer - calm enough for Mala to concentrate on them again. With wondering eyes she watched the two, saw how this Maeve seemed to be shaken to the core. And yet she also saw how a part of the Celt seemed to have returned to the same - as if a missing part of hers had just been replaced. And it was in this moment that suddenly she realized how similar her trace and the one of the bird were. Like fire and wind they seemed to be different at first sight, and yet deep within they shared something that went far beyond what two creatures could be connected by. Mala knew this kind of bond, had often felt it before. Had felt it exist between her sons. But how was this possible she wondered. How could the two be connected in that way? How could a hawk be connected to a human by soul. And by blood?

Mala was well ware of all the knowledge that none of them spoke out; noticed that in between the lines there lay more truth than was obvious. Yet all of them seemed to hold secrets that the others didn't know about. For a moment the spirit felt confused at how this Caipra and Ziad seemed to keep something from Maeve, but as she sensed the redhead accepted that for now, she, too, decided to let it go.
There was a deliberate tone to the elder woman's voice as she spoke of the tavern once again, and Mala couldn't help but eye Caipra for a moment. Out of all the ones that were around her, her feelings were the hardest to receive. The mighty aura that surrounded her seemed like a veil, where only remnants of her anticipation and her sudden worry were able to shimmer through.
Mala's thoughts however were detracted from the lady in an instant when unexpectedly Ziad bid his farewell. He bowed slightly and left, not missing to offer his help if it was needed again. Maea looked at him in silence for a moment, before she slightly bowed her head to him. She knew he would not see her shape, or recognize her actions, but nervetheless she felt she owed this gesture of respect and thanks to him. This man had helped when she wasn't able to, and this she would not forget about.

Finally had Mala say a word or two as well. I must admit it's getting a bit straining to write out someone who can't be seen or heard or anything, but on the other hand it makes me explore her a bit in her attitudes and thoughts. Anyhow. I had intended to have her wait for Ziad' reply as well, but what I had written was rubbish. So I let it end that way. Hope no one minds, but as she's not influencing anything anyway, she can have whatever thoughts she wants, right?

Siltenly did she watch them; silently did she follow their conversation. No spoken word did go unheard by her, and the more she got to know, the deeper her frown became.
Just how much had this world changed in her absence when magic could be banned so easily? Just how lost must poeple have become when they feared it now. Moreso, when this happened in a city like Basra. Magic was part of this world, she knew, it could not be banned - or just forgotten about. But if, against all odds, poeple really did so one day then they would lose part of their own identity. Because even though not all humans had access to the powers of light and of dark, all of them were influenced by them. And to not know about these hidden wonders anymore... How could those living aim for that? How could they possibly want to close their eyes and forget? How could this world change so much?
All this time Mala's gaze lay calmly on the two sorceresses infront of her. While her thoughts echoed in her head, she never left their site and with worry washing over here for a moment, she, too, wondered what had caused that change and made the poeple of this city deny what this world consisted of. And even if only a little bit, but she feared what would happen if they found out about the true nature of these women - for she was aware that, in her shapeless existance, she would not be able to help either of them...

Aaalright. Mala's with you again. ;D I hope my post is okay as it is. I realized I really had to catch up on quite a lot of things since Mala's perceiving more than just the obvious things. Also I always have to consider that she doesn't know even half as much as I do when it comes to Caipra and Maeve. However, feel free to tell me if there's any mistakes. Oh, and the thing about the sunlight was actually a spontaneous thought. I hope it adds to what Dermott wrote in her post. Rumina: Your turn, my lady (P.S.: did it ever occur to you that I'm your brother-in-law as well as your mother-in-law? Lol! [/random silliness] ;D )

It was the moment that the guardsman spoke up again that Mala remembered he was still there with them as well. Feeling the remainder of her living days still be vibrant within her, she turned to him and stepped out of his way a little. She well was aware she neither shielded the sorceresses from his view, nor would he ever notice if she intruded his personal space; and still the ghost did follow this habit smiling internally at the warm feeling this human trait gave her. With her mind focusing on Ziad's words, Mala tried to understand the troubles of other guardsman showing up soon, but the matter seemed to be too unfamiliar to her as that she would be able to understand what the problem about this was. Just for a split second she wondered whether the mere presence of this Caipra might be enough to unsettle other poeple, and it made her cast her gaze back to the wise woman instantly. Were poeple suspicious in this town? Had she done anything to make them question her? Back when Mala, herself, had still been alive Basra had always been a city of magicians, and it had been nothing unusual at all to have sorceresses be amongst them. So what could possibly worry any guards coming? The young Roman lingered there for a moment, untill the one she was thinking about agreed with the guard without even asking a single question. It seemed she knew well about the issue and there was not even the slightest trace of objection in her voice when she replied. Quite on the contrary, her face suddenly lit up and a certain excitement seemed to emenate from her very heart. There was something she knew. Something that was to be important for the Celt; something she wouldn't tell.
It wasn't only the need to look after this Maeve anymore that made Mala follow the two women. It was curiosity now, too. Because, whatever it was that had flared up in the elder woman's soul, it wasn't just about a break-fast and some rest. Casting another glance to the young guard who had just announced to accompany the women to whatever tavern Caipra had in mind, Mala's spirit set itself into motion - following those who carried magic within without any sound. Once outside again, she blinked shortly at the bright sunlight which met her eyes and it seemed to her that the sun shone just a bit brighter now that the effects of the ripple were wearing off. Of course this was nothing to be noticed by a human soul, but beings like her, creatures connected to Mother Earth and life and magic itself were not oblivious to it.
