@eleana: Aw, I can well understand how disappointed you must've been when you first heard the original lines. And I must say, I do prefer your dubbing over the original there. ;D In our dubbing they translated this into something in between (I'll just give you the translation of that back into English): "Say how much she meant to me." It neither talks of love per se, but it makes it obvious that he cared deeply - more than you probably would for a friend. In our language said also something similar and it really sounded that she was very valuable for him and that he has more feelings than the feelings of the ordinary friend, so I was dissapointed when i heard the original. Maybe we could speculate that he does not want to say more about his feelings before the rest of the crew, but in my opinion in the similar situation there would not be any reason to pretend something before them.

What is funny is how the dubbing let us believe other things... I remember watching season two in english and been completely dissapointed when Sinbad says : « Never had the chance to say goodbye, Maeve. Say how much I care. » because in the french version (FV), he speak of love not only care... which is not the same... « Je n'aurai même pas pu dire au revoir à Maeve, ni lui dire combien je l'aime » (http://www.dailymotion.com/embed/video/x5tml3?start=400) I had the opportunity to hear the Czech version of this episode a few days ago after more than twelve years and I found that my memories were a little distorted. The final line of Sinbad "Until we meet again, Maeve." was translated better than in the original "We will find you, Maeve. I promise it to you." But disappointment was the translation of Sinbad's speech "Never get the chance to say goodbye, Maeve. To say, how much I care." I had fixed in my memory that he said something which indicated how much she means for him (more than a friend). How big my disappointment was when the second sentence was translated only as "We must meet again."

Only a theoretical question, but if a new keeper of Dermott should become one of our boys in this episode, who should be it according your opinion? For me, it should be Rongar. Not for a reason that he already cared about him one time when Maeve was not with him, but because it fits to the Rongar's character the best. Doubar called him one time a bastion of calm, the important part of the crew and I totally agree with this.

I totally agree, I would say Rongar too. In a Tv-show perpective however, it would take something out of the screen action, since both Rongar and Dermott are not able to vocalize their thoughts, so we would have two characters together that would need double translation, if you know what I mean I think it would be cool for Sinbad to have the Hawk, but I like it with the female badassery, too

I know that minor crewmen do not get much care, but do not you think that they could show their reaction (at least minimal) to the fact that their beloved captain survived the storm ? No, they are only standing in the background without any reaction, while main characters are talking together.
And did you notice that one of crewmen who died in the lake was visually quite similar to Firouz? If an accidental spectator saw only a piece of the episode, he could gain the impression that it was Firouz who died in the lake.

Yeah, it's a little sad that the minor crewmen don't really get to do much apart from die. x) But I guess that just comes with a show that has a crew of several people as their main cast anyway. At some point it can get confusing to focus on too many people at once. Though, yeah, still it would have been a nice notion to see some crewmen cheer in the background. Haha, but I would have to watch the ep again for that. xD I don't actively remember one of the crewman looking like Firouz, but that doesn't mean anything because my memory is really rather bad. xD

This is something which I can easily understand that main characters have the focus on them and the minor do not. But i think that there are certain situations when they should show a reaction to something, however minimal. And the return of their captain (who was probably considered to die in the storm) is a good example of such a situation. Look at the Village Vanishes - although the central focus after reappearing of people is on Maeve/Sinbad (and the reaction of the crew to their kiss) we can still see villagers celebrating their survival in the background, which is a natural thing, they were all at the threshold of death a minute ago. He has a certain resemblance to him, I am not sure of the exact extent of this. Maybe I am only imaginating things too much...

There is one more thing in this episode which is introduced here and represents the second season in not such a great way. The rest of the crew look so decorative in this episode. The focus is completely on Sinbad and little on Bryn (but not so much how I thought before), but what about the others? Firouz and Doubar are doing something off-screen the most of the episode and although Rongar is paired with Sinbad a longer time, he did not contribute on saving of Bryn or something else important and he is sent to off-screen as well by Sinbad.
It was not like this in the whole season but this was not the only episode where I had this feeling. And definitely it was something which I did not notice in the first season.
