Okay. This is the first occasion for me to re-watch season 2 in its original English version. Let’s see if I’ll find some good points this time **laughs ironically**. Hope you don’t mind if I do a bit of Liveblogging. Opening scene: The Nomad is stuck in a storm, and now I remember what I thought the first time I’ve watched this, without having any clue of what was going to happen. I was just so happy there was a season 2, that I couldn’t wait for the developments between Sinbad and Maeve’s relationship. Naïve me. I should have imagined that something was wrong because Sinbad’s outfit changed (too early to judge if for the better) and Maeve’s didn’t. Well the one in the first 2 pictures is obviously Jacky (I wonder from which S1 episode they took this clip), while the second one is manifestly a stand-in (wearing a very ugly wig if I can dare to say) In a couple of seconds the situation come to a critical point. She grab the ropes, and she fell behind the railing. She’s apparently lost into the waves. Oh MY GOD. He went crazy. GREAT!!! He Leave the ship to its destiny and jump into the stormy waters to follow her. (At the time the fangirl inside me squealed in delight). He doesn’t find her. He’s desperate. He’s apparently drowning. And Dermott flies away. THAT’S THE ANGST I LIKE. Next scene. Of course he is alive. If he already died here this show wouldn’t have called “Sinbad” He is sleeping unconscious on the white sand. (Cute) . And he believes that Bryn is Maeve. Look at his expression. Here he is still the boy from the first season. **Notice for the first time that his red headband is gone** . Bryn appears. First reaction: WHO’S THAT GIRL? WHERE’S MAEVE? **had the feeling that something is wrong. Otherwise they wouldn’t have chosen an old shot and Jacky would have played a new scene herself.** We have no time to complain or wonder. The villain of this episode is already here. Who would he be? One of Rumina harpies? A stone giant? And elegant and evil Dijin? Well, definitely not, to my disappointment. Here is the ……villain Can I laught? This “thing” is the ugliest monster appeared in the show so far. And of course he doesn’t have better to do than hunt those two unfortunate people that “by chance” are on “his” beach. *The watcher thinks for the first time that the screenplays sucks* Many minutes where they are running away **boring. skippes it all** Okay. We know suddenly that Bryn is his lunch and she has no memory. And ah, I forgot, she has magic powers too. PRODUCERS: ** This is your new leading lady. She is mysterious and brave. You watchers get her because right now we have no time (nor will) to introduce her in a properly and slower way** WATCHERS **grrrrrrrrrrr** **WHERE'S MAEVE (again) ? ** Opening titles. Jacqueline Collen is not here. **even more worried** The next tomorrow (maybe)

I was so blind in rage that I wanted to crash the tv-screen when in the opening credit, Maeve was gone & some ugly girl was taking her place! Gosh, Maeve was so graceful in the credits, giving the look, stealing a smile, & of course, the way Sinbad looked at her! I didn't believe it at first, so I watched the whole episode hoping Maeve would step in, but I was, indeed, heartbroken.

Hey, Bryn is not ugly! But is the openning, I would say she looked cold comparing to the smile Maeve brought in. Bryn just did not seem to fit in. Yes, I was angry and sad. I kept watching Season 2 hoping for Maeve's return. But never got my wish.

Sorry there, Bryn! Honestly speaking, that was the first thing that came to my mind when I saw her the very first time. As you said, she just didn't seem to fit in!

*snickers* That seriously made me snicker, keep it up, Derm ;D *gasp* I never noticed the second picture wasn´t Jacky. What about "Hell House" then, there were some very brief shots of her, when she´s running from him, I was always certain that was Jacky and that they had just shot these scenes first thing when starting to shoot the second season. Heh, glad I´m obviously not the only one going "Aww. " over that Sinbad-sleeping-in-the-sand-looking-cute scene Same here about Bryn. She certainly isn´t ugly, I just found her looks were like the most abrupt change possible from Maeve. She´s a totally different type so that was rather bewildering for starters.

If I am correct, any time Jackie was in Season II, the shots were taken from Season I. Yes, they managed to magnificently alter them.

@kriss Thank you. I’m going to add it right now. @talya I found Bryn terribly boring during the whole 2 season. Sorry Bryn, but we are talking about her the way she had been portrayed by screenplayers. @sinbad 1 As Bryn already said. All the clips with Jacky were taken from season1. They came up with the “storm plot” after she left the show, so they have to arrange things somehow. Honestly I don’t remember the episodes they belong though. I think that the part where she’r running away from Sinbad is partly played by a stand in. Now, I even notice than when she fell overboard, her voice is different 2 Thumbs up for the “sleeping-in-the-sand-Sinbad”. This scene reminds me of the “little mermaid” I will. I’m having fun too. ;D ;D

I always thought her voice was a different one, too. Sheesh, if I were Jacky I´d be FURIOUS about all this.

Wow, I, too thought that at least in "the Sacrafice" it had been her. With "Hell House" I after watching it two times noticed it's been a stand-in that had been making the shots, but in the first ep, too? *is dissapointed* Well, to voice my opinion as well: back then I really hated Bryn! Just like the most over here I only watched season two hoping that Maeve would return in some ep. But how wrong I have been! I can still remember that feeling that spread withing me when I saw that new intro and this girl taking over Maeves position. . *still feels sick when only remembering it* But, well, as the years went by I gave Bryn a chance and simply looked upon her as a friend of Sinbad. She had her own beauty and could have made a nice char I think, if only she had been developed better and had had her own place on the Nomad (and NOT as a substitute for Maeve!!!). @derm: Hehe, like your liveblogging. ;D

And back to my suggestion I made earlier, even though it is not totally my idea: why didn't they just have Bryn's character play Maeve? After all, with magic, anything is possible. On other shows, it would be totally weird. But this is not like other shows. This is fantasy. Don't ruin an initially good plot by changing it to agreed with the fact that Jackie was leaving.

Baaah. No offence, Bryn, but ... nhaaa. That would have been ridiculous. I mean - can you really imagine developing what was there between the two and seeing a different person that is so not like Maeve with it? *snorts* It's good to have a new character join. I mean, after all you can't force an actor to copy another's manner which in fact Mariah would have had to do. And even if she had managed to copy how Jacky interpreted Maeve: would it really fit that petite brunette to stand up and voice her opinion to the whole crew in the way Maeve did? Sorry but no, I doubt this would have been a good idea.

That would have had even more drastic effects, me thinks! I cant imagine anyone else but Jacky playing Maeve. She was made for the role, & she did a brilliant job. With her smile, her looks, her agility, her charm-- Nyah, I dont think that would be a good idea. It was really good-thinking of the producers that they didn't make Mariah take over Maeve & let Jacky have her character all the time. No matter how furious we all were, we could atleast know that Maeve was there, somewhere; & endure Bryn as Bryn. I remember the show "Robin-hood", where they eventually changed both the characters playing Robin & Marian, & the show went totally downhill since then.
